  • For the shotgun- You are hitting him straight on. No factors to miss. Range cna help if they're farther yeah, but damage makes sure the stray shots STILL hurt.

  • This test is invalid. Who the hell is gonna stand still and let you kill them online? Your not going to always hit them point blank which is the only way you'll kill them with gay range. With damage you could barely hit them and still het the kill.

  • damage is better for killing juggs. Also damage gives you a better chance to kill an enemy with the side of the shell spray. That is if you don't hit them dead in the chest. Especially for shottys with wide spray i.e. AA-12 and Striker. You can almost kill them by shooting beside them.

  • But when using the specialist perks, damage is better than range because when you get specialist bonus you receive range as well. If you use range from the beginning you wont get the damage prof from specialist.

  • I like what your doing here, but like many others damage is far better for shotguns. I want the one shot kill more often than I want a medium range kill. In gun fights the person who dies faster loses. So 1 shot < range/2 shot

  • I think range is best in shotguns u can shoot a lot of shots fast (aa12 and striker) because u have many shots that to get the kill.

    And damage is best with the pump actions (spas and ksg and model 1887)because since u pump u need the one shot kill . For the USAS12 either could work well it's more to personal choice .

  • Range is better for the pump/lever action shotguns but for shotguns like the Striker, AA12 and the USAS you are better off with damage since you can unload shells easily

  • I always like to put damage on to my pump action shotguns, and I put range on auto shotguns. Damage is good for close range, and range is good for med range.

  • Damage helps you to kill if not all of the pellets hit your target. You can get a glancing shot but the 75% damage increase will make it lethal. In short, damage makes your shotgun more consistant, which is what i look for in a gun.

  • @revilo412 what happens when you miss a guy with smg? you score 0 damage but you can easily hit spraying around him, same goes for shotguns you should not miss XP

    Sure in the setup here range seems more useful but in the game no-one is 100% accurate, so the tests are a bit redundant.

  • Cool, now all the people who actually believe this will be using range, and I can smear them across the walls with damage.

  • I don't know about this one. Damage outclasses range for shotguns easily.

    I love my spas to death and always end up using it silenced. I figured that range proficiency would compensate for the range penalty of the silencer, so I had range the proficiency. Two to three shots up close. Once I added damage, I was getting consistent one shots on people up close and 2-3 shots at slightly further distance. Any farther than that and it's suicide anyway.

    SMGs I don't use, so I can't relate.

  • Shotguns are fairly inconstant as each shell shoots so many pellets and these pellets are not very predictable. this can make a shotgun very inconsistent even at a few meters. Damage helps deal with this problem as each pellet does more damage. Therefore you only need to hit them with a few pellets to kill. If you really have a big problem with not one shotting the enemy at slightly further range use the model 1887

  • Thats not correct, because with damage you kill ur enemy even with a grazing shot. without damage u prolly need 2 or more shots

  • I personally disagree :/ if you watch my videos you'll see i use primarily shotguns and from personal experience damage comes in handy alot more, unless your using the AA-12, your talking like your going to be exactly on target everyshot, and your using extended mags so the spas has 9 pellets instead of six (this is now patched) now in a close range POV your not going to be on target every single time making damage much more forgiving (and im almost positive your dont get damage with specialist)

  • i know you tested this and you got great results but you did this in a private match next to a dummy, when online you dont have dummys like this, i understand that both are good and your test was great but online its not as easy to kill someone like this

  • i like the damage better then the range mostly becuz when i use shotguns like the spas12 without damage, i just nicked him and he gets away and kills me.. with damage, just "nicked" him will also kill...

  • This has made me question your other videos when you say "Range is BY FAR the best proficiency for shotguns".

    I mainly use the model and spas and both benefit more from damage than from range.

    At the distance you showed you can hit with range I would even attempt to attack them. 5 shots is pointless. I would flank, get close or run away in that situation so the extra distance you get is pointless. Damage is better and close to medium range (the only range worth using a shotgun at)

  • Even with the recent buff shotguns are still WAYY to unreliable even at close range, its almost like we are being forced to use damage, and ive never seen anyone consistently kill from that distance even with range, because target and player are moving around

  • I've gotten tons of hitmarks when I've been close to the enemy, because some of the pellets miss, so I think the damage proficiency helps out a lot more than the range.

  • You should test that with the striker, because damage is useful with it since in short range if you don't aim the enemy perfectly you won't kill him with only one shot with range :)

  • @HybRidSpectre 12awinstinct is a tool. He has stats that are incorrect in his videos. Take the AS50 vs Barrett .50 video. He says both have a body damage multiplier of x1.0 making OHK in the body, when the sniper only does 98dmg making 98x1 not equaling 100dmg to kill. Sniper body multipliers are x1.1 lol

  • It really depends on th shotgun you're using. As 'weused2bestoned' said, the model 1887 is best with damage. Any pump action such as spas or ksg also would best benefit from damage. Having range on a pump is nothing if you keep getting hitmarkers. But on striker, i'd say range would be best. Oh, and another thing, if you plan on using range, you need accuracy or else the pellets from the shotgun will spread more and extra range is useless so use grip+steady aim

  • sorry but I think damage wins, I can only really vouch for the 1887 but it gets you a lot more 1 shot kills. The striker can go either way, but if you want to kill people at a close/med range damage all the way. maybe it works better with other shotguns.. i'll find out eventually.

    and the range for a shotgun is somwhat strange to me since a shotgun isn't made to be shot from that far

  • @BlazingChimera They put range to increase the shotgun range, because it needs it. Shotguns in real life half extraordinary range. It may be less accurate at longer ranges, but you are still shooting lead.

    with damage it increases ur chances in killing him/her on ur first shot when they're moving

  • Range can be better with certain shotties with shorter ranges. However, Damage is the better pick with almost every shotgun because even though you dont get that extra range boost, you'll get less hitmarkers at closer range.

  • This video fails to take several things into account with shotguns. Like that some shotguns have longer inherent ranges or higher inherent damages. The shotguns have been patches. Also, with shotguns, you can have some, but not all, of the pellets hit. In which case Damage improves the odds of the shot still killing while Range does jack shit.

    Can anyone help a little? I use the P90, and I'm trying to decide the best proficiency for it. From the video is looks like range is a solid option, but I also have stability on it right now. Which would be the better option, or is there a different proficiency thats better than both?

  • @Raicun27 Use the pp90 proficiency. 

  • @Raicun27 Well you should also look at Attachments (Ext. Mags + Rapid Fire/Suppressor) and Focus. The P90 is honestly the most adaptable SMG, so it really doesn't matter what Proficiency you use with it.

  • Actually, sorry if I sound like a douche, but it's not 'no matter what' it is a one shot kill up close. Because what if you hit them lower and it doesnt kill? Shotguns shoot pellets. i believe spas 12 shoots 8 pellets per shot. Each pellet does a certain amount of damage based on the distance of enemy, and where you hit. Let's say all 8 pellets hit a guy in the chest is always a one shot kill. But another time, one pellet hits the legs and its just a hitmarker.

  • Damage is better with specialist as you get the range prof and not the damage prof, but if you already have damage you get both.

  • Your forgetting the fact that if you don't hit the guy with all the pellets it will still kill them with damage, but not with range.

  • @R1CKR0LL911 I agree on all of them except the SPAS. The long range pellet damage on it is so pitiful, so you should try to use Range to make the maximum damage go farther.
