In the Showa series it was a second Godzilla, while in the Hensei series Godzilla didn't die in the first place, and in G2K, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and Tokyo SOS, it was a second Godzilla. This is the only film I know of thus far where Godzilla has been undead.

The millenium series godzillas look the best to me. My fave suit is the G2K because of the badass look, 12 fangs, long tail, ridged neck, and HUGE spines also liked the reddish orange atomic breath and his roar is badass. GMK godzillas eyes and evil look are cool also his spines were lassic but new, final wars was a excellent fusion of japanese Godzilla look, but with the muscular toned agile feel of Us Zilla.

Godzilla stayed underwater and came back in godzilla vs mothra. supposedly a typhoon washed him in to Japan, he was buried in the dirt, and he rose out of the earth later to destroy japan. @galaxypa Kong is shown swimming away in both versions. Toho made the movie so it ended in a stalemate so Kong swam away for obvious reasons but both roar in the end. Godzilla's roar was edited out of the American version to make Kong look victorious.

@galaxypa Actually your wrong there were never two endings the one with kong is the only ending. The reason for that is because at the time kong was more popular tan godzilla at the time since that was godzilla's third film and he had not hit his cult status yet.

This is one of my least favorite Godzilla movies for several reasons: Non-Mecha King Ghidorah portrayed as anything not sinister? Ghidorah under-powered. Baragon steamrolled for free (horribly under-powered). I'm not a fan of the actual Godzilla suit in this, (looks very pregnant, shape of head compared to other millenium Godzilla suits) though I agree the white-only eyes are a good touch for an evil Godzilla. etc. That being said, the soundtrack is good. :)

Godzilla finally looks like what he originally was suppossed to be, a creature created by man kinds mistakes, and all the monsters looked amazing. To me this rendition was the only one that really gave me a sense of just how huge and immensely intimidating Godzilla is supposed to be, and not just because of the scale of the other monsters in relation. Throughout the whole movie from his first real appearance I got that sense of ferocity and enormity from him.
