I used accutane (in Australia its called Roaccutane) and I recommend it soooooo much it was the ONLY thing that worked... It dried my skin up so much but it was absolutely amazing, I can't say anything bad about it... If nothing works for you, do yourself a favour and try it!
my eyes got really dry while i was on accutane, i also got ridiculously dry skin as well. but it worked soooooo good. i have great skin now, and i also get an occasional pimple now and then. the good thing was that when i wore eyeshadow it never creased!
yeah, my derm gave me a cream, i just dried out my skin and so I went to the gynaecologist and she gave me the pill, since back then, I have clear skin!
I think the reason you don't get acne as bad anymore is because teens tend to get acne more than adults. If someone has adult acne, I think it would come back after going off accutane.
I was in the full cycle on accutane I'm only a sophomore but it gave me such a confidence boost knowing that I don't have accutane anymore. Yes, I get the occasional blemish, but that's it. I've actually been getting confidence on how my skin looks. I've been off accutane for now about.. 2-3 months :)
i have acne and it is so hard for me it just sucks i have little to no confidence and im going to my derm and i hope it helps! btw your skin is beautiful!!!!!!
accutane was the worst/best 6 months of my life. I was miserable when I was on it. Depressed and all that. But I didnt hang out with anyone and it made me do alot of thinking. and im grateful for that.
my derm recently recommended accutane for me but im not too sure.I have mild acne but also scarring but since I am a singer who has to perform daily in intensive opera classes, private voice lessons and chorus rehearsals i am worried that this product will dry up my vocal cords and it wil affect my singing, especially during audition season. i still havent posed this ques to my derm yet but does anybody have personal experience similar to mine?
WOW! I wish I could have clear skin like you. Then again I'm a guy, so its a little different.
I've used every over the counter drug along with prescription drugs like Adoxa Cycline, Cephalexin and numerous face cleansers and after creams (all prescription drugs). I've been wanting to use Claravis, Accutane and other drugs, but I can't afford over $200 per month for the drugs.
Isn't life wonderful? ;) I have a girlfriend though so i guess it could be worse.
Cetaphil is a cleanser & mosturizer for your face. you can get it at the pharmacy (or drugstore) and a lot of people use it. A lot of people that i know that use it say it works so yea. and also a lot of times the dermatologist will recomend getting it. Im not saying to get it but im saying ive heard pretty good things about it, but ive never used it myself
I use clindamycin phosphate gel which I got from my doctor and it works really well. I've had no side effects at all from it. I don't have severe acne but this product really helped tone and clear my skin. The texture of my skin is better too. It was like a miracle.
I've also learned that you don't have to go to a dermatologist to get acne medication. I asked my regular doctor and she prescribe me something. But like I said I don't have severe acne so I don't know if this will work for everyone
Thanks for sharing your experience. I've had face and body acne since I was eleven (three years ago), and I'm getting pretty sick of it. I will certainly see a dermatologist, and give this a try (Y)
when i went to a dermatologist the guy wouldnt give me accutane becuase apparently a lot of them weren't distributing it anymore. instead he gave me this gel stuff, which works, but unlike accutane it's not a cure, it's just a stall, so i have to keep using it.
my advice to anyone is just go to a dermatologist if you want it fixed. dont bother with over-the-counter stuff.
ya it works pretty well based on what i saw on my brother when he used it. but it made his lips swell and become very pink. but if you think that these pretty minor side effects are woth it to be acne-free in the longrun, then i guess use it.
...and i dont know what to do...so i see your face and looks pretty good..but the problem is that i live in PORTUGAL but in here i dont think that we have the products that you used...so i asked you if you can be more specifically...about that??...please??...i dont know what to do....help me...and answer me soon i you could...
HI....i'm gonna make 2 comments...cuz mine is very big so i have to make two parts..sorry
first let me tell you...thank you for talking about acne and the psychologies effects that cause in teens and me...
Im Jennifer and Im 18 and Im in 12th grade...and I have acne since 10th grade ...all i can say its...I feel how full because of that and I did a lot of treatments, I was in a dermatologist but Im equal...
I'm 14, and my dermatologist is urging me to take the Accutane. It's expensive, about $300 a month for generic brand. Just to give me more info, he handed me a large packet, with tons of risks. I believe you now have to do an online course, monthly blood drawls, and take another 2 birth control pills as well as the Accutane pill.
im taking acutane now...it looks like they put it back on the market? and yah its been a week my face is 80% clear. My whole body is drying up and peeling a bit..my lips arent really dry and yah you have to drink like 5glasses of water a day! No other side effects.. so if anyone who lives in canada and is thinking of takeing it i recommend it 100%!! So go see a doctor about it.

it is the only permanent thing...both my parents got it& their in their early 40s...too bad i cant get it now cuz my face gets pretty bad & im in high school :/
I just got off Acutane or whatever the new brand is called. And it wasn't fun going through it, but it was completely worth the 6-7 months I put into this. WhenI got off of it, my skin was really clear, but I do continue to have small breakouts every once in a while. It seems to happen when I shave and I get razor burn, but I am not entirely sure.
I just went on accutane last week (the brand is still available in Canada because its a lot harder to be a candidate) and this video really helped me to see what is to come and how to deal with it. Thank you
Both my of brother went on Accutane. My 15 year old brother was on it for about 6 months I think (when he was 13 I believe) and his face got EXTREMELY dry. His lips were about as chapped as they could get and his eyes were always bloodshot. He seemed to change a little in that he didn't really do things anymore, but once he was done, everything went back to normal My other brother did it and just finished it up. He's 21 and he really only got small dry patches. It's worse internally for girls.
I had bad acne for early teenage years and it fucked me up real bad. I still get those insecurities sometimes even though my face is completely clear now . I had to attend a derma clinic for like a year though .
My sister went on this drug as well, although here it was called roaccutane I think. Her skin was so dry and flaky, but same as you, the acne is all gone now.
If you stop eating dairy products (lactos), chances are that your breakouts will stop. Exfoliating your face with a scrubbyglove also helps against whiteheads (dead skin clogs the pores.)
For many years I had acne on my neck to the point were it would pain me to turn my head. I tried everything; creams, pills, special treatment at a dermatologist etc. and finally I linked my eating of cheese with acne.
This method has worked for me and it's free. All it takes is will power.
ihad severe acne during highschool years [face to body]..so i tried everything, nothing rly seemed to work, BUT accutane did. now i have NO MORE acne n i feel gr8! =]
just to give a heads up - I have been on Accutane. Probably the same age as you (16 or so). I am 32 now and it eventually comes back. Now, it definitely does not come back as bad as it was before but eventually it came back. Mine started to come back when I was 26 or so. So, I had a good ten years of acne free skin. I probably will try to get another cycle of it.
My side effects sucked. I had dry peeling skin, blood shot eyes and very deep red dry lips. My lips are naturally red in the first place, but this made them look ridiculous. But in the end it was all worth it. Now all I do is wash my face once a day and I get zit every now and then. If I wash my face twice a day and use my Differin I never see a single zit.
When you were on acutane mentioned that it dried your skin did you still wear makeup over it? I want to go on it but if it gets to be severe dry skin I'm not going to work.
what i found that works good (for me at least) is to drink lots of water, drink water flushes the system of toxins and helps prevent acne. if you a girl I'd also use something to exfoliate, guys just shave with a razor.
Does anyone know if Roaccutane or Accutane is available in the UK? I would love to know where do get this medication from as i suffer really bad from it.. makes people sick when they see it. :(
i'm taking this atm and i was supposed to be on it for 4 months but it's just got worse than it ever was so i now have to have it for a month longer. i'm really not sure if it's going to work because nothing else has so why should this?
accutane/roaccutane/isotane/oratane are all isotretinoin pills, they are effective, but the thing about this drug is that you have to look ugly before you look good, be prepared to get very dry skin, and sometimes acne may be worsen at the first two weeks so usually accutane is paired up with oral antibiotics to alleviate this side effect. But it is very effective.
OMG!!! Finaly someone who talks about accutane (or Roacutane, as it's called in Holland, where I live)
I'm so happy for you that it worked for you. But me, I took those pills for 9 months. Think of that 9 months. My dermatologist was 100% sure that my skin whould be great after that.
I had to go to the hospital for checking my blood for 9 months, and my body handled it all well, but my face espescialy lips an my eyelids where so dry that the skin came of.
the best way to get rid of acne is drink a lot of water ,do exercise to burn all the oil and fat from ur body, eat healthy food, fruit, salad, yogurt, fish, etc. and buy a good face wash to wash your face at least 3 times a day.also try to get vitamin A tretinoin from your doctor.(it dries up your oily skin) i had cystic acne and doing that is the only way i got rid of acne.
I had bad acne, when I was 19 and asked one of my brothers, that had a nice smooth skin, and he told me that all he does is moisturise every day, but I did not believe him, finally I got tired, and started using baseline on my face everyday, nothing Else, and between the third and fourth week, my skin change a lot, no more acne, He told me that your body will try to moisturise it self, by putting fat on your face.
Theres two almost same pills, Acutane and Roacutane (something like that). Both do the same trick but the Roacutane has less side-effects and i'm using it right now (almost done^^).
I wanted to mention that you cannot take the medications if you are pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant!! accutane can lead to congenital defects
good lord ur fucking gorgeous! i wish my skin was as clear as yours! im doing "acutane" right now but it says clarivis so yeah lol. anyways ur really hot!
I lost alot of hair (on my head) from this medication which is a side effect. Acutane is for people with severe cystic acne...not just pimples. I would recommend instead going to an endocronologist and getting your hormones checked...thyroid, testosterone. Get on the birth control pill (like yaz). And, allthatglitters, but your oil glands will start producing again, and after time...maybe 6 months or a year...and you will get acne again. 3 months isn´t long enough.
she is describing the medicine Roacutane.. i used it for 6 months and it cleaned everything in firs 15 days or cure.. Ask to your doctor if you have trouble....
i took acutane also.. i did help me SO much. i still have breakouts every now and then, and still have little bumps, but compared to before, its so different! too bad the pulled it, i didnt know that!
Go to the doctor and ger roaccutane or accutane, it seriously is the best... im using it now... and i was awful... Roaccutane works i swer, so listen to her!
The one that I took was Nimegen. It is the same as Acutane in some ways. And it works very well. I suffered with Acne Vulgaris for many years till someone introduced Nimegen to me.
I went through 3 cycles as well. BUT it is only a 1 month medication. All the side effects are the same.
so u have or had dry skin and ur sister has or had oily skin and u have blond hair and ur sis has brown hair weird and yet u girls totally look alike (not like having oily or dry skin makes people look diffrent or anything), anyway thanks
Good for you for doing this video. I got prescribed Accutane when I was a junior in high school. It worked for me too. In fact, I wish my doctor hadn't used it as a last result, but rather much earlier on, before acne left a number of scars.
i have been on accutane for the past 4 months, and its a miracle worker! I would HIGHLY recommend it if nothing has worked for you, and you can afford it. It's really expensive but its totally worth it. I had been going to the dermatologist for about a year trying different stuff until I decided to give accutane a try. I didn't have acne mad, its just what I had WOULDN'T go away.
I have serious issues with acne. Like it will appear to clear up, then all of a sudden it comes back threefold. I don't drink water like at all, so that could be why, but like I'm too self-concious to go to a dermatologist to get any medication. Which sucks, oo self-concious due to the acne to get medication to get rid of it. I've had other issues in my life and due to this acne I'm unable to get my life back on track, which keeps me depressed all the time anyway.
hay that was a realy good video. i have realy bad acne on my back and iam scaed 2 go swimming coz i dnt like people looking at me. please comment me bk coz it wud realy help if u did lol. hope 2 here from u x
This girl is totally right. I also did those pills for 3-4 months. I got a little depression, but it was all worth it. Just tell people around you that you are on that medication, so they know why your acting a bit weird...
I was put on accutane as a young teen, but was unable to finish the course because of extreme side effects. I still have acne as an adult, although it has improved over the years. A great alternative to harsh medications, at least for me, has been cleansing with Jonhson's baby shampoo (diluted with water) and spot treating pimples with tea tree oil, which can be found at your local drugstore. Be warned that tea tree oil has a VERY strong scent, but it's something that you'll get used to.
they pulled accutane from the US market just because there was too much competition with the generic brands. it had nothing to do with it being unsafe. they still have it in other countries :) i've been on it for almost 2 months now. i was kinda scared to take it but actually the only side-effect i have is dry lips. they're easily controlled by aquaphor though. that stuff's a godsend. but yeah, if anyones considering going on accutane i think you should go for it. it's really not that bad.
umm did anyone know that drinking water a lot reduces acne my sister drinks 3 bottles a day everyday and has no acne i do the same and i have very very soft skin and barely any acne so yea
thank you. and for everyone who has BAD acne. i recommend a DERMATOLOGIST. it will change your life. im already 1 week in to my products. so far so good !
Accutane cured the crap out of my acne, I barely every get any anymore, and when I do it's nowhere near as bad. I did it for six months, I had some joint achey-ness and sometimes my skin was a little overly dry, but I was able to stay on swim team and it didn't affect me too badly at all, and now I don't have acne (or scars, somehow!) I didn't have to get any tests or do any online course or anything like that, I think I might have had to fill out something about depression, that's it.
I recommend a gel called isotrex or the form with anti-biotica isotrexin
It helped get rid off my acne on the face and on my back
It's a good alternative to the pill
BUT: Isotrex(in) dried my skin up in such way that I could pull little parts of it off
on top of that i got a warm water allergy on my chest
AND: You have to get a prescription by the doctor and it is only used in the serious cases because there are side effects you dont want to get like losing hair or become night-,colour-blind
Whiteheads are the direct result of skin pores becoming clogged with sebum, a naturally occurring oil, and dead skin cells. In these conditions the naturally occurring largely commensal bacteria Propionibacterium acnes can cause inflammation, leading to inflammatory lesions (papules, infected pustules, or nodules) in the dermis around the microcomedo or comedone, which results in redness and may result in scarring or hyperpigmentation.
Acne develops as a result of blockages in follicles. Hyperkeratinization and formation of a plug of keratin and sebum (a microcomedo) is the earliest change. Enlargement of sebaceous glands and an increase in sebum production occur with increased androgen (DHEA-S) production at adrenarche. The microcomedo may enlarge to form an open comedone (blackhead) or closed comedone (whitehead).
i have acne an it suckss alottt i hate it ive tried a few things ,but just dont work ive been drinking alot of water now an its helped it a lil an i use the queen helene mint julep masque an st ives apricot scrub an its helped it lil but i want something that will take it all away i havent been to the dr yet but im gonna try an get it cuz ive never had acne an wen i turned 17 i got it an no one in my family has it but me idk wat to do its my self esteem is rly low to it suckss

Is there anything to get rid of those minor acne scars? Like there not bumps or indents in the skin. It's more like a spot in the skin.

I think the reason you don't get acne as bad anymore is because teens tend to get acne more than adults. If someone has adult acne, I think it would come back after going off accutane.

I had to attend a derma clinic for like a year though .
and ur hot : )

jhout978 2 years ago 5
just to give a heads up - I have been on Accutane. Probably the same age as you (16 or so). I am 32 now and it eventually comes back. Now, it definitely does not come back as bad as it was before but eventually it came back. Mine started to come back when I was 26 or so. So, I had a good ten years of acne free skin. I probably will try to get another cycle of it.
angelwings0428 2 years ago
My side effects sucked. I had dry peeling skin, blood shot eyes and very deep red dry lips. My lips are naturally red in the first place, but this made them look ridiculous. But in the end it was all worth it. Now all I do is wash my face once a day and I get zit every now and then. If I wash my face twice a day and use my Differin I never see a single zit.
tnc420sucks 2 years ago
When you were on acutane mentioned that it dried your skin did you still wear makeup over it? I want to go on it but if it gets to be severe dry skin I'm not going to work.

jas0n287 2 years ago 2
what i found that works good (for me at least) is to drink lots of water, drink water flushes the system of toxins and helps prevent acne. if you a girl I'd also use something to exfoliate, guys just shave with a razor.

i'm taking this atm and i was supposed to be on it for 4 months but it's just got worse than it ever was so i now have to have it for a month longer. i'm really not sure if it's going to work because nothing else has so why should this?

accutane/roaccutane/isotane/oratane are all isotretinoin pills, they are effective, but the thing about this drug is that you have to look ugly before you look good, be prepared to get very dry skin, and sometimes acne may be worsen at the first two weeks so usually accutane is paired up with oral antibiotics to alleviate this side effect.

I had to go to the hospital for checking my blood for 9 months, and my body handled it all well, but my face espescialy lips an my eyelids where so dry that the skin came of.

the best way to get rid of acne is drink a lot of water ,do exercise to burn all the oil and fat from ur body, eat healthy food, fruit, salad, yogurt, fish, etc. and buy a good face wash to wash your face at least 3 times a day.also try to get vitamin A tretinoin from your doctor.(it dries up your oily skin) i had cystic acne and doing that is the only way i got rid of acne.
karm53 2 years ago
I had bad acne, when I was 19 and asked one of my brothers, that had a nice smooth skin, and he told me that all he does is moisturise every day, but I did not believe him, finally I got tired, and started using baseline on my face everyday, nothing Else, and between the third and fourth week, my skin change a lot, no more acne, He told me that your body will try to moisturise it self, by putting fat on your face.

Theres two almost same pills, Acutane and Roacutane (something like that). Both do the same trick but the Roacutane has less side-effects and i'm using it right now (almost done^^).
So yeah go try it out, works wonderful.

The one that I took was Nimegen. It is the same as Acutane in some ways. And it works very well. I suffered with Acne Vulgaris for many years till someone introduced Nimegen to me.
I went through 3 cycles as well. BUT it is only a 1 month medication. All the side effects are the same.

i have been on accutane for the past 4 months, and its a miracle worker! I would HIGHLY recommend it if nothing has worked for you, and you can afford it. It's really expensive but its totally worth it. I had been going to the dermatologist for about a year trying different stuff until I decided to give accutane a try. I didn't have acne mad, its just what I had WOULDN'T go away.
austyisgangsta 2 years ago
I took accutane for 5 months and It seriously is the best thing ever! I have not had one pimple in a year. I definitely recommend it

Be warned that tea tree oil has a VERY strong scent, but it's something that you'll get used to.
redtulips23 2 years ago 2
they pulled accutane from the US market just because there was too much competition with the generic brands. it had nothing to do with it being unsafe. they still have it in other countries :) i've been on it for almost 2 months now. i was kinda scared to take it but actually the only side-effect i have is dry lips. they're easily controlled by aquaphor though. that stuff's a godsend. but yeah, if anyones considering going on accutane i think you should go for it. it's really not that bad.

"Colloidal silver" is the best treatment for acne, you can buy it at any health-food store. Good luck.
2worldsatwar 2 years ago

In these conditions the naturally occurring largely commensal bacteria Propionibacterium acnes can cause inflammation, leading to inflammatory lesions (papules, infected pustules, or nodules) in the dermis around the microcomedo or comedone, which results in redness and may result in scarring or hyperpigmentation.
chieltjeuh 2 years ago
Acne develops as a result of blockages in follicles. Hyperkeratinization and formation of a plug of keratin and sebum (a microcomedo) is the earliest change. Enlargement of sebaceous glands and an increase in sebum production occur with increased androgen (DHEA-S) production at adrenarche. The microcomedo may enlarge to form an open comedone (blackhead) or closed comedone (whitehead).
