You know what would be awesome in your dome a spiral stair from the bottom to the top centered in the middle would make it convenient, and also have the rope thing in the middle of the stair spiral circle ling it lol.
I've been wondering about this for a while: The MegaDome looks good and strong, but will the ground beneath it hold up? I mean, did you probe it or something, cuz I'd hate something beautiful like this going down... :(
I spent a month piling rocks into the foundation and pounding them with a sledge hammer. It was pretty solid. ...but like with anything, theres always a chance it'll all fall apart
I dont get people critising you using a generator, when they are probably in thier homes using huge amounts of power. Im also with you on the 'dome'. Screw what others think. The 'dome' is just a name for a fantastic inspirational home. Great work Jamie.
Hey Jme, As a builder guy, I really enjoyed seeing the shot of the underneath side of the roof at 2:59. The interconnection of wood roof frame and metal dome frame is quit impressive. Nice work my friend!
Nice Jamie, I used isolation foam yesterday in my little workshop at home, did not wear gloves, bad idea, my hands looks just like yours after the banana building isolation project.
I know it would be impractical and bad for insulation, but using that plexiglass you made the windows in the banana building around the top floor would give an awesome view of the area. Then again, that can be done with just a narrower window that somehow wraps around the walls of it. But alas, as said previously: Form follows function. Regardless, keep up the awesome work!
Oh, if I had an unlimited supply of polycaronate, I'd buildthe entire dome out of it! Unfortunatley, I don't have much left, and that stuff costs about 1000$ a sheet new.

shame on you, using that generator, you should get Dashina on a bicycle to pedal to generate power instead of contaminated the environment with that generator
I've been watching your stuff for a long time but i have to say this project in particular is the most amazing craftsmanship i have seen like... ever! Thank you so much for sharing your projects it's one of the few things in this bleak world that gives me and others hope!
are you just going to encase the dome in a cylinder of insulation panels that reach up to the roof or are you actually going to make a larger geodesic dome shell over the skeletal structure with the panels? though it'd be harder i think trying to keep the 'dome' shape would look awesome. just make a bunch of triangular pieces that kinda 'hover' over the skeletal structure by like 2-3 feet with support beams connecting the vertexes of the skeletal dome with the vertexes of the outer shell.
At first, this is what I thought he would be doing too, but I see now that it would have been impossible to then add the additional floor (lookout/guard tower room) with solid flat support beams in that scenario. I think what he's done looks pretty cool anyway. I wonder what he's going to use as roofing on 3rd story? Time will tell! :-)
It's always very interesting to see you work, your process and what you've already accomplished, even when it's without commentary. It's almost relaxing :)
It is relaxing to see someone else doing hard work haha =) You should take a day off and watch your own videos! Or more like 5 days.. you´ve got a lot of videos dude!
I want to know how you fund this! ive been busting my butt and dont have anything like what you have!

Come finish the dome for me, and I'll be happy to work on the robot.
No point having a giant robot if I freeze to death.

who's complaining about generators? whiners. ha ha.
funny thing is I still use solar power for almost everything. ....it just can't keep up when I'm using power tools all day.

Thats unfortunate to hear about running low. Who knows, maybe you'll find a cheap stash somewhere or some leftover from someone.

Ya, I'm always on the look out for cool free or almost free stuff. I'll find good uses for whatever I find. :-)

That sounds totally impractical. I'll make it the best way I can think of, and it'll be awesome.
