what is this absolute bullshit? the bass is so messy and unequalised...theres no skill in the drumloop, and its repetitive. dnt get me started on the simple treble.. why has this got 15 likes and no dislikes? ima be the first to be real bout dis
@everythingsreal Totally get what you're saying man - Bare in mind though, Grime thrived on being gritty and rudimentary. If you look at original Drum and Bass, it was poorly mastered too.
@AdzTurner you mean if i want music that requires a bit of true effort to make? im a producer, a beat like this would take me five minutes to make, theres no melodical talent in this one bro. however enjoyable it may be. and i know about rough raw tunes i listen to wu tang all day
@GreekNeek no one said anything bout dubstep except you guys lol.... goes to show so much about who you lot really hate on. im bein the realest here, still the first dislike for a good reason. aint sayin you dont have to like wot i dont like still...
@everythingsreal Yeah this is a pile of shit. All this grime/ sublow / eski whatever the fuck you want to call it is utter bollocks. Even the early dubstep stuff, when they mixing it with this, on Big Apple & Hosepower Productions are utter garbage - but these guys were making tunes on their playstations for MCs really. This ain't for dancing too in its own right, it's for some little shit to rap over.
I was pointed this way by someone who labeled folks like Jon E Cash and Musical Mob as "sublow". He seemed to group this with El-B's stuff from the same period. Where you around during those days? Do you recall an emergent sub genre sometimes called "sublow" that fractured into dubstep and grime?
yeah sublow was the predecessor to grime, deep deep basslines, Jon E Cash was a sublow producer and spearheaded the movement(in my opinion) but i wouldnt call this a sublow beat.
Where would you draw the line between sublow and grime, in terms of musical characteristics? Would sublow still have more of the dancy garage vibe? In any case, the sound is fantastic: so raw and powerful. Thanks for spreading the knowledge, btw.
yeah sublow is more bass orientated whereas grime is mainly driven by synths and more electronic sounds. Sublow has a lot more in common with its ancestor(garage) than grime does. grime also has a sparse texture which sublow does not.
@logosfails grime are beats at 140 bpm made from synth and/or string sounds, square bass, and drum pattern are like 2-step garage ones but with no swing, its basicly a darker more developed form of garage.
@logosfails Mate, this music was never made to 'dance' to - it wasn't dance music, it was made, principally, for MCs - for rapping, essentially. Raves / dos whatever you want to call them were all geared towards the MCs.
OI YOU LOT, JUST SHUT THE FUCK ABOUT GENRES AND ENJOY THE TUNE, SAFE.

If you want polished music, go and listen to Justin Bieber. This type of music was all about rawness.
