Leaving nature alone and lighting a fire is two completely different things. Firstly, the person who made the fire could have done so to keep warm or just simply for the comfort of it. Second, with that much snow around, there is not a chance in hell that fire would have spread. And if your worried about the impack a fire like that has on the nature? Sure, it leaves a mark, but charcoal is pretty much the cleanest thing you can imagine.
There are now 7 Billion people on the planet. If each of us treats Nature with such disregard things will be a whole lot worse than they are now - and, obviously, the planet is already in pretty bad shape as it is. So, the idea is that we should leave as little impact as possible in whatever we're doing or wherever we're at. It's our responsibility to protect that natural world as it has an intrinsic value unto itself - regardless if humans can make a profit off it or whatever.
The bigger question is why a fire is ever needed in the first place? Why can't we simply leave Nature and the forest alone? Why the constant fear of the natural world, the fear of being alone, and the fear of not being entertained?
so there's where I left my campfire.....
