  • @celshader while it is faster it would give ownership of the files to the web server thereby creating permission problems with extensions and preventing editing of files.

  • I should point out that if you are uploading Joomla via ftp you can upload it as a zip file and them unzip it on the server once it has uploaded.

    This is a lot quicker than just uploading the unzipped Joomla files and folders.
