Meanwhile Thailand played a superb match vs a very strong Aus team, but lost too, and out of the Asian cup!! I have so much respect for the Thai. VN must improve significantly to deal with Iraq.

One has to be realistic. Group B has all the heavy weights, but they are not physical teams. Playing a physical team like Australia or Korea will be extremely hard for Vietnam. I think going to the quarter final is good enough for Vietnam. If they can go further, wonderful. But everyone is happy just to reach the next round. If VN meets AUS in q'ter final and loses, it's OK. If they meet Thai/Iraq/Oman they'll have a chance to semi.
It would be more than wonderful endding for Vietnamese if it ends up with VN beats Qatar 1-0, holds a 0-0 tie with Japan and goes through....Then wut ever comes will come, if they RUN straigh to final, im for sure that VN international team' rank will jump up to at least 50.
Technically, Vietnam certainly can beat Qatar. But I don't know about the physical strength and stamina of Vietnamese players. To compete with the big guns in Asia, VN's players must be real athletes. They look a bit too skinny. I hope they can be taller and more muscle and follow strict health regime. But let's hope they can do the job tonight (win, not draw). They have been consistently playing so good in the last 3 months.

Such an interesting but ironic situation! VN played a bad, sub-standard match against Japan and deservedly lost. But UAE helped to put VN in the quater final.
Meanwhile Thailand played a superb match vs a very strong Aus team, but lost too, and out of the Asian cup!! I have so much respect for the Thai. VN must improve significantly to deal with Iraq.

sigh..last yr vietnam wasn't as good. this yr i saw they beat oman, lebannon, indonesia, jamaica, UAE, they hammered laos 9-0 ish i think. so last couples months they've improved hella much. n i think ur wrong korea ain't physics or w/e team yet cuz japan is in group b with us too n their fifa rank higher than korea. but qatar rank higher than UAE n now vietnam beat UAE. it'll be hard to know who'll win so stop complaining.

One has to be realistic. Group B has all the heavy weights, but they are not physical teams. Playing a physical team like Australia or Korea will be extremely hard for Vietnam. I think going to the quarter final is good enough for Vietnam. If they can go further, wonderful. But everyone is happy just to reach the next round. If VN meets AUS in q'ter final and loses, it's OK. If they meet Thai/Iraq/Oman they'll have a chance to semi.

Technically, Vietnam certainly can beat Qatar. But I don't know about the physical strength and stamina of Vietnamese players. To compete with the big guns in Asia, VN's players must be real athletes. They look a bit too skinny. I hope they can be taller and more muscle and follow strict health regime. But let's hope they can do the job tonight (win, not draw). They have been consistently playing so good in the last 3 months.

UAE had so much opportunities! so many pentalty shot, and they still cant get in a goal. The first goal was no pentalty. Minh Phuong attempted a shot (not a slide tackle, watch the replay), and failed collided with the other player, so Thanh Binh took advantage. Many times Viet Nam only tugged on UAE players and got penalties, how was that fair? Viet Nam strikers are also the best Le Cong Vinh especially!
