Very nice man. Sounded just like George Harrison!!!!! I want one too. I already have the bass 4001c64s. That is my next to buy after a REAL Hofner bass.
@DuaLeaD i know a guy who has both, he says the toasters have a more accurate vintage sound and the signature rickenbacker tailpiece is a bitch to re-string compared to the basic trapeze-like thing you get on the c63. still doesn't fully justify the £600-£800 price difference, though. if they were around the same price i'd rather have the c63, but i'm probably gonna go for a regular 360/12 unless there's a substancial difference in build quality that i may have overlooked.
Whats ironic is in the early 60s all us American kids thought Rickenbackers were from England, because it was almost exclusively British bands that used them.
@aalcantaramusic Is it worth getting a Rickenbacker 360/12C63 over a Rickenbacker 360? The 360/12C63 is almost 2 times the price of the 360/12 on the websties I've seen.
@Toady373 I would say it's all about personal preference. The c63 has the squared off edges and the modern on has the rounded off ones, the pickups are different and on the modern one the string slots for the extra strings go all the way through easing re-stringing. I'm also in a Beatles Tribute band so the c63 was the way to go for that
@aalcantaramusic Thank you. I noticed the round edges. I think I'll probably get a 330/12 because I like the edges more (It's like a C63). But I might get a good job soon so maybe the C63 won't be impossible for me anymore.
@Toady373 One thing I would like to add just in general is that it is always worth getting a Rick anytime! They are beautiful handcrafted instruments. I love my 4003 Jetglo!
@Toady373 Well guitar wise, Gretsch will give a more thick tone in some ways. Well, I guess what I meant was that the tone of Gretsch guitars are very smooth and percussive, much like Rick basses only minus the edgy growl (which i love). Rick guitars however have a very distinctive tone that is very jangly and happy. Just something about them has a very upbeat vibe to it. Maybe it's due to the fact that they are all hand made ,not that I know of the Gretsch manufacturing. send a message for more
@SteveShivik Most Gretsches are made in China now, which os the saddest thing I can imagine. Eddie Cochran and Chet Atkins are rolling over in their graves. Rickenbacker is the only major US guitar company now that still makes every single piece of every guitar in the United States.
@Toady373 I do own a Gretsch Tennessee Rose and the thing is that the Gretsch necks are thicker, wider. The sound, due to the humbuckers, is also muddier. I like the sound of Gretsch guitars a lot. It's great. I do prefer the Rickenbacker variety though.
@Toady373 Buy the 360/12c63 the new 360s suck. They have changed them I have a 360 from the 80s and 370 from the 90s, The new 360s headstocks have changed their not routed out they go right through and the hi gain pickups have changed the tone sucks. If you want a plain 360 buy an older one.
@Toady373 One big difference is the tailpiece. The standard "R" tailpiece is rather a bitch to restring on the 12-string; it's a huge pain in the ass. I don't really break strings, so I only have to deal with it when changing all the strings, but it's still a pain. The 360/12C63 has the trapeze tailpiece, and the difference is like night and day; so easy. And the pickups on the 360/12C63 are spaced farther apart than on the 360/12, which makes some slight tonal variation (but not too much).
hier droom ik van,heb zelf 12 stringgitaar model ovation maar deze kan ik niet(wil) betalen maar alleen er naar kijken is al mooi, echte Byrds sound overgens, een rolls onder de gitaren.
I would LOVE to have one of these, or better yet the Model 370-12, which has 3 pickups. They have a unique look and sound. They are just awesome. Suggested retail price (from Rickenbacker web site) is over $3000US! (and they'll even include a case) But, what the hell, it's only money!
a 360/12 is my dream guitar... great clean tones and from a *very little* bi tof playing on a rickenbacker 12 string I love the overdrive tones to (i know this is weird...)
dude, you have to make another video with this guitar. I ordered one and its not due till march. I would be extremely grateful if you made another video with this Rick.
@aalcantaramusic That's a beautiful Ric you got there, how much did it cost, and where did you order it from? I'd prefer to have a 360/12C63 over the standard 360/12.
I'll be sure to post some more as they come along. Thanks for the nice compliment. I'm actually using a crate bass amp for this. It gives a nice natural sound so that what you really hear is the guitar and not the guitar with anything that the amp might add to it.
Where did you buy your awsome guitar ???:)

I see NO advantage to getting the vintage (360/12c63) model....
1) It's super expensive (my modern 360 12-string was $2675 if that gives you an idea)
2) YOU DON'T GET THE SIGNATURE Rickenbacker TAILPIECE which is always gorgeous
3) The curves around the outside of the modern model look better than the vintage edges anyway
