could this product be used with mortar to add extra strength. i live on the coast and the weather can get pretty bad at times. im a bit of a novice when it comes to masonry and brick laying so i would like this product for ease of use but would like to use mortar for peace of mind. is it possible?

There are tabs that stick up on the top of the block (made out of concrete) that insure the the block would stay together during tragic wheather. The block interlocks vertically and horizontally.

So what holds each layer to the one before it? The video mentioned a "gasket", but I have a tough time imagining that holding it together through a hurricane.
