  • Glad you're taking time to work on the painting. Wish you a happy holiday. For a background suggestion: Waterfall with flauna on a rocky background...greens, blues and grays

  • I have a suggestion, you could do an icey backround

  • Miss you Will, I hope you have a delightful and a happy Summer. :)

  • Hey, man. Don't worry about not being able to paint for us all the time. You don't owe us that. If anything, we owe you! Your paintings are always legendary. I share them with my family and friends and everyone loves em. I will continue watching your videos forever. peace.

  • Damn man, i miss your videos. Cant stop rewatching your older vids.

Whats up willy? Why aint you making more videos? :(

    Greetzz,,

    41hukki

  • I miss seeing your art Willy. I can't wait to see the finished result.

  • @Pokeeeveegirl I miss you guys a lot too :(

I'm sorry I can't devote myself totaly to art and to bringing happiness to people :(

  • @WilliamsShamir Hey it's alright. But hear this, I've been subscribed to you two years. Since then I've been showing your work to both of the art teachers I've had so far. This year's art teacher happens to have a computer arts class. After I showed her your work from my phone, she got really excited. I overheard her talking to another art teacher about showing her computer arts class some work done by "a man Youtube that one of her Art1 students showed her." :) Guess which art class I'm in?

  • @Pokeeeveegirl what art class are you in :) ?

thank you so much by the way for showing my videos to your art teachers ... I feel so embarrassed :)

thank you so much for that it's so sweet of you

  • @WilliamsShamir I think excellent talent should be shared. She actually told me how she showed some of the computer arts students the way you were shading and the details you were putting in. She then told me how amazed her class was. She told me she showed them the video of you speed painting your niece, Johnny Depp, and a couple others over the course of the week.

  • Bird like features, a nest. Maybe even some treasure like traditional dragon tales… sorry for double post, I'm posting from my phone and the comments don't have a char count so idk I was going to get cut off

  • Well i personally like my art to tell a story of sorts, so i would suggest something relevant to the reason of conflict. In many dragon tales, and sorta just as a common draconic trait, dragons tend to hoard something and usually attack either to protect or gain territory and since I doubt the warrior lives in the rocky setting you've made then I suppose it's the dragons habitat. Maybe you could add something that supports the idea of a dragon living there. Maybe a cave or, since the dragon has

  • i love winter, it separates the idiots out on the road lol....

Venus has the biggest active volcanoes, just FYI.

  • Just stopping by Will to see how you are feeling and I hate winter too.

  • You should talk more about your painting, I think we ( at least I ) have allot to learn from you, you have a very interesting channel and your work is as always a pleasure to watch.

  • I LOVE WINTER ! anyway, you are awesome ! like always !

  • youre absolutely amazing! I really like your painting vlogs and speed paintings, keep up the good work =) and I hope your hard times will be over soon!

  • sucks painting u said?? lol this is awesome

  • A colosseum with dark clouds and thunder would be awesome as a background and the dragon should be chained.

  • dark clouds and thunder

  • dont go to norway in the winter if you prefer heat!:P went to central norway to -30 celcius this week:S and i live in spain where its like +20 degrees now :O

  • PINBALL MACHINEZ IN THE BACKGROUND :D

  • Do you pain in layers?

  • Put flying dragons in the background

    0.o

  • Background... light blush pink to gray mountain range with foggy slopes and clouded peaks to the right.. humoring to stronger contrast to the left ... even into a darker red tone to umbria on the far left.

Best left diffused in most sense, though a cropping of similar dragon life in the distance would fit well. Very distant.. I think.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm freezing here too. It's about 5º here.

Anyways, great drawing. As for the background...uhmm...don't have any really good ideas...I was thinking...more dragons flying xD

  • "Mount Olympus"

Looks like we have found our background.

  • Greetings from Lithuania, it's about -15C here, anyway, you're such a good artist, i don't really know many artists on youtube, so i'm considering you one of the best.

Also, do you have a painting/drawing tutorial? i can do basic shading and outlines and stuff, but only on paper :/, so i'd like to learn how to draw on photoshop (CS3?).

as for the painting, you're missing a volcanic sky with maybe smog, or shiny silver clouds, that'd look awesome, keep up the good work.

    -DDD

  • It's not a Dragon it's a Hydra.

  • 1. wished the wings to be abit "grander".

    2. how about a bridge, in the distance? not sure what it's called in english, but like a "valved" bridge, made from bricks or in natural stone setting. Fantasy is fantasy ;)

thanks for uploading, and greatings from a very very cold Sweden.

  • ps...like a distant storm...of overwhelming odds...a dragon storm

  • Actually... Instead of a volcano erupting...I think It would be cool if in the sky...it looked like more of these three headed dragons...were posed to fly down...tk also artack the warrior...so you feel his fear....

  • Cold sweaty feet + winter does not mix well... I spend all winter with my feet numb.

  • can u make a picture of dogs playing poker?

and btw -20-30C i try to find a good reason to not sucidie :(

  • hi! didn't see you for a long time, so welcome back :) I really like the idea of this picture and agree with you about dark background. then what about snow? The snow-covered Alps, for example o_O

  • the paintings coming along beautifully Willy! Also it would be great to hear some of the ambient music you used in some of your old painting videos, I'm pretty sure you're creative in every way!

    Keep up the great work!

  • Ah, I can understand your pain with the cold. It's been around 0 fahrenheit here in Minnesota, and I get a good chuckle as people complain. But i do always love your paintings Williams. As for the background, I understand the whole volcano thing, maybe some lava/magma seeping from cracks in the cliff. And another thing that would be a good addition would be like other people and dragon things fighting in the background. Give the whole battle a bigger scope while focusing on these two's fight

  • I can sympathize. I live in seattle, and while it's not freezing (we rarely get snow, so it's more considered a blessing: plus all it takes is an inch to put school out since nobody knows how to drive in it), it has been in the mid 40's, and it is raining more than I've ever seen. People's houses are flooding, it's a real mess. Usually there is like a day or two interval between showers, but it's been raining almost every day for the last week or so.

Hope the weather gets better on your end.

  • @rinnix1 I live in Seattle too. The rain is making me sad :(

  • @Hightopsdynomite375

Even if it's not raining, it's cloudy! D: I could really go for some sun right now.

  • @rinnix1 I'm visiting AZ for winter break and I'm excited for the sun!

  • yeah, in Virginia it's about the same as SC. we're at about -5 with windchill. they won't let us stand outside during the morning before school because of frost bite.

  • it's -17°C at the moment here now ;s

  • let it snow, let it snow

  • YOU GUYS, HELP THE SUMMER; EAT SNOW PLEASE HAHA

  • Oh, Hi Williams

I was going to suggest the background be the characters on top of a mountain with maybe lightning in the cloud. But I was wondering, what kind of recording system you use? I've been trying to record myself painting, but nothing seems to work for some reason.

I hope the weather gets better for you ^-^

  • @yoyomatafaka

-12 fahrenheit? How many celcius is that? Just wondering who has it coldest... me or you. I live in Norway :-P

  • @Arawanach -12 fahrenheit is -24 celcius

  • @Arawanach about -25 Celsius :D

  • I think the temperature is great now. Fortunatly it's not any cold here today. It's -3¤ now. when the temperature drops below -10¤, then it's not good because then it's to cold to take my son up to the kindergarden. At least if I'm walking, but as long as it's not colder than -5¤, then I walk ;-)

  • soooo i live in san diego and today it was like 80 F

  • I'm sorta feeling some ice or glaciers would compliment the foreground nicely and look nice at the same time

  • Really coming together and looking AWESOME! Keep it up, Willy!

  • where do you live man?

  • -11C in Central Ontario at the moment. Suppose to go down to -23 with the wind chill later tonight.

  • For the painting, maybe have the sun peeking in through the clouds and have the rays on the characters? Not too strong, just very subtle. And maybe some dragons in the sky flying in to help their friend?

Just some suggestions of what first came to my mind for the background. ^^

  • My Mom was getting tired of Maryland and it's 'Bone chilling' cold, and so we packed up and headed to FL., and It's getting colder and colder every winter. >.>

  • chicago is cold

  • Here in Cali, everyone's a wimp. It was around 69 degrees today and all the girls were wearing uggs and northface jackets, me included, lol

  • It's 69 degrees here in Louisiana. [:

Living down south has it's perks.

  • omg.... teach me please how to draw))) at least on paper))

  • thats a big volcano!!

  • how about piles of corpses / skeletons in the BG

  • with all these comments about "oh here its -10" well 0-5 is seems colder then -15 to me ....

for the background ... how bout a mountain side with a nice waterfall ... that would bring some bright colors and would not stand out so much

  • with all these comments about "oh here its -10" well 0-5 is seems colder then -15 to me ....

  • I would make it kinda snowy/wintery in the background. The lighter colors would work well in contrast to the darker characters.

  • @yoyomatafaka almost -20 here today :'(

  • I hate the cold and I live in Germany and here are-10C °

  • Hi Williams! How about a lightning bolt or lightning clouds in the background ?? Have you ever painted a lightning bolt before? If you haven't, it would be fun to see you try, and if you have, I'm sure it's probably the coolest lightning I'll ever see by digital paint :)

  • here's an idea. paint something on a 16:9 format.paint it while vlogging. and then upload it as a wallpaper as a photo in hd resolution. that would be so awesome!!!!!!

אחי אתה חייב לעשות לעשות את זה.תחשוב על זה מה זה בא לי את הציור הזה שעכשיו אתה מצייר כרקע

  • Oof I'm glad it's only 0 C here... for as long as it stays that way :\

  • well here in my town located in norway we just had a period where we ahd as much as -20° to-29° C

  • meteor shower in the background

  • I don't know how far you are with this painting but try to get some warm tones on the skin of the warrior his skin looks like he's dead ;)

maybe add some dust or fog at the feets of the dragon and some dirt flying around to create a better fell of the motion

    hope this helps, cheers

  • other samll dragons flying in the back ground

  • here in sweden its -21. that sucks.. :7

  • Thanks Williams. Great stuff mate.

  • Yo will, do you have any tips for oil painting?

  • man, have you ever been employed for your art? Like for video games and concept design? You really deserve that kind of exposure!

By the way, how do you keep brushes from 'bleeding' over already painted areas? For instance, i have my brushes' opacity set to pen pressure, but the colors between the strokes end up darker.

  • How bout a volcano with flowing magma?

  • @keltar2007 lol, fail comment :)

  • @GingerAfroMan101 Hoping no one will notice...

  • thunderstorm

  • With that big rock wall there, you could add another rock wall to create a scene that looks like a big gorge........or you could add some mountains in the right side of the background..........

  • unscribe

  • I wish we could replace France with a Giant volcano

  • Something that you could possibly add in the backround could be a small town off in the distance behind the dragon, underneath the left neck and behind the warrior's back. It may add some feel or something that the warrior has a purpose for fighting the dragon. Just a suggestion.

  • @Varquance i agree with you, what purpose does he have for fighting the dragons! =D but its a lovely painting

  • I love the idea of baby dragons - it would add a whole new dynamic to the painting.

  • You should make the background look as if you're in the bottom of a canyon. Also, I think you should change the character's legs a little. It looks like he's just standing and swinging instead of putting his whole body into it.

Other than that it's looking great! PS - You talk like a Newfie and it's adorable :3

  • @MaddieMcCartney1 i AM a Newfie! :D

  • tropical island jk

  • I knew about Olympus Mons. ;) *used to want to be an astronaut*

...Maybe stick 'em on Mars or Saturn for no reason whatsoever? Space dragon?

  • hehe thanks for educating me about tall volcanoes ^u^

  • I know that this might not be as cold as other comments, but here in South Carolina (USA) it is close to 23 °F (-10 °C), which is f***ing cold, even around this time of year when we're usually enjoying temps around 45-50 °F (5-10 °C).

  • @cyndaquazy I'm absolutely freezing when it's 10+C lol ....can't imagine how I would cope with something as cold as -10 :)

  • @WilliamsShamir I'm in Canada. -40C happens. We deal. :(

  • @WilliamsShamir haha, here in Canada its like -15C, and thats not cold at all hahhha. when it gets -30 its cold.

  • @cyndaquazy lol Its -2 F in NYC LOL

  • @cyndaquazy yeah, but try sweden! THAT'S cold, buddy! not as of today, but damn, when it's winter in sweden, it's f***ing WINTER!

(I grew up in the hood, man! vs I grew up in the cold, man!)

  • how about a cave for the dragon?? :)

  • @yoyomatafaka Oh thats not to bad, here in Canada, it gets down to -30 to around -50 sometimes. xD

  • If I were drawing this I would put the dragon in front of a charred and smoking McDonalds restaurant.

That's probably why you are doing the video and not me. Heh, heh.

  • I think I knew it was on Mars ^^

I saw someone mention a lightening storm. That'd be nifty! :]

  • Make the background so they're inisde a coliseum or arena of some sort, that would be cool and almost add some story/info to it.

  • some artists unintentionally make faces when they paint, do you do the same with your digital paintings?

  • Maybe you could add a dragon flying in the background with a Knight on its back. Like, instead of this guy trying to slay the dragon, he could just be trying to tame it.

  • How about adding a hot damsel in distress in the background? With her dress torn to pieces by this nasty dragon... :)

  • maybe a raging lightening storm or something?

  • Where are you from? P.S. I love your work.

  • I would love to see at least 1 smaller dragon on the cliff above and maybe a couple of smaller dragons flying or gliding behind the the two main personages.

  • i think you should put some planets in the backround.

  • I'm not even a painter or much of an artist myself, but your work is really inspiring. Take care.

  • Awesome painting Willy! Keep them up!!!!

  • nice dragon

  • I learned that volcano thing in Geology this year ^^

  • A lighting bolt would be cool!

  • @stick1figure11 a lighting bolt hitting the swords tip :D

  • how about making it like inside a clearing in a forest so there would be trees surrounding them, but open space around them, if that makes any sense at all

  • I would add bones to the background, like the dragon ate someone or something and the remains were still there.

  • I would add flames in the background, or a huge wave of lava upraising from below... I'm curious about seeing your skills in drawing flame's colors and details :)

    Think about it ;-)

  • quick question...how much different is cs5 than cs3? because right now in graphic design i am being taught in cs3 (i know, bunch of cheapos) but when i do graduate and make a career out of it, i was wondering if it's very different and if i'd have to relearn most of it

  • @jinzodude also, we use adobe InDesign, flash, and INVedit all cs3 too

  • if the craggy background wasn't a background you had in mind why not make a stormy effect swirling clouds with light bubbling deep in them and some lighting strikes or something like that?

  • Now i'm learning and watching you create these amazing paintings at the same time.... awesome job.

  • HOw bout a Geyser Field for the background?

  • @yoyomatafaka -12 ... ouch ... I wouldn't want to experience that :)

  • @WilliamsShamir you should make it look like comet or metor shower is coming down onto them

  • do you take requests for paintings?

  • How about a city in ruins in the background, or a nest, for JoMariebentzler 's baby dragons??

  • @Savstad95 YES

  • do it as a super nova behind it, such as like a exploding star =P

  • You know what, I might be young but I think I know a place you could do commissions for... xD I mean... I researched an agencies that help artists get commissions for jobs... Your work is amazing :D

  • wowww...thats soooooo cool!!! :)

  • maybe a lightning storm?

  • What if you add some smaller baby dragons in the background, I think that would expand on what your showing right now. Love your work its a shame you dont peruse this as a carrier I work as a freelance commission artist and I can tell you its the best thing about my life!

  • @JoMariebentzler where do you get commisions from ? I don't know where to get commisions from ... and it's so frustrating :(

  • @WilliamsShamir *comissions

  • Lightning, chainmail armor, and another dragon head to offset the open space. Dope picture though.

  • Ah, I knew about that volcano on Mars and how it's 3 times larger than Everest. That is one freaking huge formation!!!

  • you need a robot unicorn in the background

  • @nrproductions hahaha that's random :)

  • @WilliamsShamir

    @nrproductions

I agree with him, though....that'd be epic...

  • @nrproductions yes totally

  • how about a second dragon in the air

  • You sound like stefano from a series of unfourtunate events....

  • snow, i think the creature would stand out more

  • I was thinking maybe you can make the sky an unusual color like green , or mustard yellow for more fantasy

  • Awesome , you could add some flames coming from that rainbow hydra's mouth or some acid breath , and the heroes sword could sparkle or be "imbued with fire / lightning" ( just my childish imagination xD )

Keep up the good work Williams , you sure got tallent , do you have a job related to making such masterpieces?

  • @pamaiomule I thought about maybe adding some steam coming out of the middle head's mouth ... not sure about that ...

as for job ... right now I'm not doing anything related ... I would have loved doing something like that for a living that would have been amazing...

    thanks for watching

take care and have a wonderful day

    Will

  • Maybe you could add a burning tree or two in the background to sort of hint that the dragon has been attacking the warrior with his breath, and that's why the warrior is drawing back with his sword on it now.

Whatever you decide, please keep these painting updates going because I am thoroughly enjoying them.

  • meteor shower in distance

  • Beautiful so far.

  • You could add a little dragon that is protected by his mommy (or daddy)

  • I know. Make a sunset. Like 5-10 minutes till dark. Just my opinion.

  • i like psycholovers skelton idea...the skulls part

  • for the background: More dragoons!!!!

  • need something

    like trees

    in the winter

  • i love that you vlog while you paint. the music was great too, but this makes it more personal. as for the painting itself, maybe have dragons flying around or even one in the far back walking up to the scene. or maybe skeletons scattered. or a cave on the side of the rock wall.

  • seems to be missing shadows.

Then again i'm no artist so i'm not sure.

  • I have a suggestion if i may, edit your vlog, maybe think of stuff to say before you start recording, of not the music was kinda better

  • i'd make it a bluey cloudy sky and lightning for the background!

  • Well, Dragons are known for guarding hoards of treasure, so how about a pile of treasure in a mountain cave?

  • less is more

  • for interesting things in the background, how about a few dragons flying around? i think it would add a bit of a story to this painting in and of itself. like the fighter guy had to go into a huge nesting of dragons to be able to take out the one that was terrorizing everyone. ^^ just a suggestion and i really hope you take this into consideration. still love these painting vlogs and i would love to see more of them.

  • wait it is a three headed dragon right because the person is blocking it

but anyways I think it should be a Volcano bg

  • the rocks don't look too realistic. I know you're still kinda doing it but...yeah.....xD lol I never knew the largest volcano in our solar system was on mars, that's awesome.

  • The whole guy with sword vs dragon feels like some quest or something and I think the dragon would be guarding something... not quite sure what but maybe a castle or building or.. I don't know but i didn't like the idea of a volcano as much either. Thank you willy, hope you painting talent never dies out or runs dry!

  • Respect for all your paintings they look awsome, but I never heard your voice. Now that I do it sounds like kermit the frog

  • Perhaps some other dragons in the clouds, all shadowed so they don't distract t
