@HinggilSaTinggil Sheep with overgrown fleece is inhumane. Try wearing 3 or 4 thick wool sweaters in the summer; how will you feel? Sheep shearing is their liberation from hot fleece.
Lots of fun watching this benign process take place. In fact what struck me was that the sheep seemed quite content to go through this process of being "relieved" of their cumbersome outer-where just in time for our Southern California warmup. LIked your soothing "Twinkle" intro and exit music. Only tech snafu was occasional wind noise. Very relaxing, pleasant and educational. Glad to see you're having fun with your video projects and sharing them with us Eduard.
And to think I had a home-made windscreen, and forgot to bring it, arghh... thank you for watching/critiquing! Funny thing about the "docile" sheep, part of the trick of shearing is to flip them on their back and hold them there, makes them think they're going to get eaten, and they "go limp" for awhile (found that out from the shearer.) It will soon be toasty-hot out there, I'm sure the sheep will be happier now!
That sounds like a good deal, for Jeri and her talented hands. Tanks for the info! :-) Oh, i forgot to and I really liked the music; it was a perfect addition to this video.
This was educational, thank you! I've seen sheep shearing in movies, but not this close up, and not so detailed. It's amazing how the shearer cuts so quickly without nicking the sheep. I also enjoyed the conversations and seeing some of the shearing in fast motion. How much does it cost for a bag of wool?
Well, I taped him shearing 9 sheep and only showed a few here, and he did nick one, but it was minor and a quick dab of antibiotic and she was fine. Since it is an annual "haircut" event, often it is free, but if you ask the shearer to "shear for spinning" (that is, carefully and close to the sheep for long wool) it is usually $5 to $15 per fleece/sheep.
Good clean shearer.
