  • Thumbs up if you don't remember using any floating orange ball thingo

  • This conversion was amazing! The SMS was probably the strongest Z80 hardware ever.

  • BEST GAME EVER!

  • Wow, this game looks almost just like Xenon (1988) and is even older. I'm confused.

  • I'd love to see a "Pro" Call of Duty gamer to play this.

  • @ultran33b They've wouldn't even touch it, pixel graphics would kill them because current generation of gamers is just a bunch of whiny little spoiled graphic-whoreish brats, sad but true, for us retro gamers mostly Indie games are worth trying, sure from time to time we get games like Serious Sam 3 for example but it is rare to get a game that doesn't have stupid Regenerating health, no secrets in levels and levels being way too linear (scripted hallway with cutscenes basically).

  • cud finish this with one credit, both times. once finsh without losing a life (first time round only).

Maybe i played it a little too much

  • thought that was impossible...

  • Essa foi a coisa mais bonita que eu já tive a honra de jogar num Master System...

  • Does anyone else just listen to this like music?

  • @kerrangutang666 Yes. i search r type music and have it as a theme tune to my evenings

  • @ChrisRJ I am playing R type Dimensions on classic mode on Xbox Live arcade, and I can definitely say that the Master System's music is FAR inferior in every respect.

  • 7:17 lol

  • Can you please turn up the volume, I think one of my speakers survived the initial blast...

  • @lurkerrekrul Geek

  • @lurkerrekrul hahahahahahhaha, good one!

  • You deserve an ACHIEVEMENT! haha.. I used to play this game all the time.. right on!

  • EXCELLENT WORK!!!!! VERY NICE

  • The Speccy version doesn't feature as much colour as this, but plays a lot better.

  • noob SECRET CODE

  • Miss this game!!

  • Love this game. Your style of gameplay is completely different to mine, but still fun to watch.

  • i had amastersystem 2 for like 10 yeasr and at no point did i realise that everything ran at 15fps. its bloody awful. I LOVE my MS2 though.

  • you missed the secret level in stage 4.... you have to back up into the top wall around 9:46 (that empty part at the top)... I THINK.

  • This game was tight!! I still got my system...

  • One of the best Master System games of all time.

  • look at 9 minutes 3 seconds of this video very carefully and tell me how you were able to kill the robot under you without shooting it?, It looks like the robot just died by touching under the space ship doesn't it? How can that be when you did not have that ball under you yet and still when the robot touched under your ship it died.

  • @pysinogsis99 You're right, this game has been altered somehow because you can't die when you touch the space ship. But that happen before too.If you notice the stage 3(6:43) you touch the big space ship and you didn't die.At least you can tell us that you're cheating.

  • @Gaiden14 When we use the cheat code to be invicible, the ship becomes a halo of blue light when an ennemy is touching it. So I think he doesnt cheat. (maybe)

  • @pysinogsis99 LoL

  • R-type for Wii PS3 or Xbox !

  • R-Type Dimensions on XBLA rocks. But I still love the Master System version! :D

  • One of the hardest games I've ever completed. The BGM to the first level rocks BTW.

  • Tnx for posting mate!

  • Just awesome

  • Is your Sega Master System in working order today? I LOVED this game. Thanks for posting.

  • The Warship stage looks MUCH easier without the floor and ceiling to crash into!

  • nossa! eu era viciada nesse joguinho!

longas madrugas de 1990 varadas jogando essa merda! kkkkk

  • it seems alot faster than i remember??

  • I like the stage with the brains with tentacles

  • well done but the volume is overloaded

  • One of the best ports of R-Type!! Master System rules. My favorite games I played and had were: Alex Kidd, Golvellius, Wonderboy 2 & 3, Zillion, R-Type, Psychic World. Out Run and Space Harrier are Sega classics, too!

  • The Sega Mark III version, which is the same as the SMS one, is better, because it has FM sound that allows its music to sound like Genesis/Mega Drive music.

  • Oh yea, and that big green ship was my favorite level lol

  • Wow, I totally forgot about this game until I found this video. I used to Love this game! lol

  • the music is so good!

  • i use to be the master at this game but now i would suck. sooooooooooooo many years ago. i would love to play this again kid. word up dunn.

  • Good game! One of the few I like for the console. And a unique version with other extra levels!!!!

  • I also remeber that my boy and I used to always wonder, how they could not make the whole ship out of the same material as the Pod? I mean shit you the Pod cannot be destroyed. Or fuck the ship, just send the Pod in.

  • LOL, DAMN RIGHT!

  • perhaps they only had a limited amount of that material, and it still needed the larger propulsion & control systems of the ship. maybe the control of the pod could only be done at limited range hence needing the ship.

it all makes sense if you try hard enough

  • @Delta0311 The pods are made of Bydogen, a synthetic compound native to the Bydo region but found only in very limited quantities. The ships are made of scrap material from their previous successful conquers, and also raw material harvested from other planets.

  • I got this game when it came out on the SMS and I was never able to get past level 7. Great game though. R-Type, Phantasy Stat, SpellCaster, WonderBoy II n III, Golden Axe Warrior, Kenesiden, Zillion, and Govelius were my favorites.

  • great game, the only thing that sucked: you couldnt save ;-/

    but a fantastic music!

  • omg i remember watching my brother pwn this game in pure awe

  • i was never able to beat stage 4

  • Starting from the 3rd level, that's when the fun starts.

  • i used to hate level 2 when i was a kid, it gave me the creeps

  • lol same

  • Great, What an old classic this is, but I still love this game, R-Type really rulez at Sega :D

  • man i remember getting this game and just being in awe of how much better sms was than nintendo....this was to sega what life force was to the nes

  • Best Fcking Sega Master System game EVER! Ah, the memories. Great Sound, Great Graphics, Great playabilit.. Very well done!

  • DAMN! I FUCKING MISS THAT TIME!!!!!

  • Excellent work. :)

For the R-Type games, as can be seen in this video, the key to success is strategically using your pod. Though that can be much easier said than done. :p

  • What a complex shoot em up game for such an old game.

It just goes to show that alot can be done even with 8-bits.

I love the sound tracks, they're great, just like Android Assault.

  • wow i can't beat the red boss at the end of this vid but you made it looks so easy!

i love r-type on my SMS but i think i prefer sagaia despite r-type being a classic!

  • 8-Bit Android Assault

  • madd chaos at 9:39! haha

  • Hey, giant enemy crab on level 2!

  • you make this game look so easy

  • I can complete this first time too.

I used to get the second boss with one powerful blue shot. it's possible if you get up close.

The first boss I do with two powerful blue shots. They die much faster that way.

  • Demais esse jogo.

  • so close to death so many times...

    how do u do it

  • no death? holy shit!

  • OMG you are hillarious the last round on this Vid was just awesome i would have died thats for sure becouse i suck in Shoot em up Games.
