I was fortunate to keep it, but now it's numb and I can hardly move my hand. I had to learn how to use my other (left) hand. Now I type with one hand. I do everything with one hand. I forget that I can only use one hand-- so don't feel sad, but it's really sweet that you're concerned. :D
