i wished i would of gotten to see jimmy ellis orion.he is a excellent singer trying to make it on his own. i would go to jimmys concert in a minute his voice is his voice and it does sound like elvis but somehow i think jimmy wanted to sing for himself. what a tragic thing that happen to jimmy and i consider myself his fan. god be with you jimmy and sing your beautiful songs in heaven,lov judy calkins

When Jimmy had his biggest success as ORION, who was he being a tribute artist of??? He did several albums with NO Elvis songs. Jimmy just wanted to be accepted for himself, which we friends who knew him did. He got his voice from his father. Jimmy was like a big kid, great sense of humor, and a lot of fun to be around. I know a friend of ELVIS', who was also friends of "Orion" the thing most respected is the fact "O" was his own man and had enough respect for Elvis to do his own thing. However I would have to say he sounds more like "E" than anyone else. Including Doug Church, and Johnny Harrah, though the respect for Elvis comes in their portrayal of the king. I have no problem with this caliber of TRIBUTE artist.

Jimmy didnt try to sound like Elvis, and he didnt he had his own sound. Its the people who claim the similarities.

He does have his own style in saying that, I've seen videos and heard song where he doesn't sound 100% like Elvis but still enough to where it was probably hard to get a record deal. RIP Jimmy I will always listen to your music.

I'm not saying ORION wasn't a true "tribute artist", Just that they did use him to exploit & cash in on Elvis' death. No one can deny that. Orion is my all time favorite Elvis sound-a-like. That's what I would call Jimmy Ellis. This song is just a contradiction to what gave Jimmy (Orion) Ellis his fame. If Orion was alive today, I'd go to every performance.

I would say Sun Records exploited Elvis's death not Jimmy. As the song says: Im not tryin to be just like Elvis. Im doing my best just to make it on my own.

@2009ELVIS i read a book called Elvis After Life and they talked about Orion but in the book they called him Zavion.

I have a lot of respect for Jimmy Ellis and in my opinion he has a very likable style of his own when he's not singing Elvis songs but the irony is this song he's singing is, he never would have gotten noticed if he didn't agree to do that "ORION" scam with the cooperation of Sun Studios. Wearing the mask as if to say, Elvis is still alive. Yeah it was his trademark but a trademark that geared towards ticket paying Elvis fans. Like I said, I love Orion and his voice, I Listen to him all the time

First off it wasnt with the cooperation of Sun Studios. They demanded the mask be worn for their gain. Jimmy wanted to be known for himself not Elvis. Jimmy didnt try to sound like Elvis it was natural. He was a tribute artist. The rest are all impersonators but call themselves tribute artist. Alot of differance.

Good song, great voice. But it would be more sincere if Jimmy hadn't of taken on the name of Orion based on a book by a nut case that wanted everyone to think Elvis faked his death and was still alive. An then appear on stage wearing a mask as well. He'd have made it on his own to a much higher level had he not gotten involved in all of that imho.

Jimmy had tried to make it on his own and was brushed off because he sound to much like Elvis. He didnt want to wear a mask but was forced to in his contract. You can blame his managers for that and what they was trying to do. Jimmy did finaly take the mask off at a concert and lost his contract.

The voice was his own, his own natural voice sounded like Elvis, and given two parts of a coin, I would say he'd have earned more money trying to be Elvis.

This he did'nt do, until he died.
