Cecil ranks as one of my favorite protagonists in the series, along with Terra and Zidane. Oddly enough, I hated...Cloud and Squall. Tidus I didn't mind, at least he had a sense of humor.
Yeah, I remember liking Cloud's character a long time ago. I forgot why after AC and Dirge of Cerberus "shudder". It's like they were trying to ruin the game. Crisis Core wasn't that bad though.
Even Dirge of Cerberus? Wow, you can stomach some pretty wretched games. It's hard for me to dislike a game; I even enjoyed X-2, as utterly lame as the plot was. But to make FFVII a 3rd-person shooter was idiotic. I hope they never do anything like that again.
Yup, even DoC. But DoC was bearable because I'm a Vince fan, and seeing him as a protagonist in anything makes my day. It *isn't* FFVII as a shooter, it's a fanfic in VII's world, and it works like that.
X-2 is awesome - just skip the cutscenes. I think I spent well over 500 hours total on it - best ATB system in the series.
The weird part about the quality - this is just the result of normal replay output - I didn't have the memory stick space for a high quality output, and it still looks good after encoding to HD size! Not too bad at all. :)

Cloud was great in the original, they made him bend over from AC.
Squall does suck though, and I laugh at people who say he's a developed character. :3

Well, nothing can ruin the original for me, I like the spin-offs because it just gives more arguments for praising VII as it is.
Crisis Core was good, it would have been better if they scrapped the Genesis/Angeal stupidness.
