Why is this still even an issue? An old newspaper in Honolulu even had a birth announcement detailing Obama's birth. I really doubt that his grandparents knew that he was to run for Presidential office, much less conspired to make it happen.
I'm Canadian, so why it even matters that Obama was born in the U.S. is a mystery to me. My country allows all citizens of legal voting age, immigrant or home-born, to run for our office of Prime Minister. Sorry for intruding, you probably have your reasons.

martinthew, the newspaper in Honolulu does not prove Hawaiian birth. The papers printed the list of births registered in Hawaii. Since Hawaii accepted registrations for babies born elsewhere, this only reflected the birth was registered.
His family simply wanted to secure his US citizenship. Under the citizenship laws at the time, Obama's mother would not have been able to confer citizenship if he were born overseas to a foreign father, as there was a residency requirement that she didn't meet.

carac - seriously, think clearly for a second. The "birth certificate" for a foreign-born person would be a COFB - certificate of foreign birth. In addition, the law that allowed that wasn't even passed until 1981 - 20 years after Obama was born, and therefore that would not have been allowed when he was born. Even if somehow Hawaii could issue COLBs to foreign-born people, it would not say HONOLULU as place of birth and be sworn to under oath that's the place of birth. You see dead people.

The parents did in fact go to Kenya,... ann was estranged from parents.. they left on holiday school break, Obama Sr. WAS ALREADY MARRIED...to be married in HI would have constituted bigamy. Ann stayed in Kenya, O Sr. returned to Univ of HI. They never lived together. Ann in late term tried to get back as witnessed at airport and was refused. Gave birth because of British staff at Coast General, Mombasa. Quickly returned via Nairobi, Glascow, Vancouver to Seattle.

Hospital and doctor info is not a requirement for a birth certificate. Under every arena imaginable (legal and state and federal legislative snd other standards) the COLB is a birth certificate and is prima facie evidence in a court of law for proof of place of birth and citizenship. HI loopholes offer one to have COLB stating "born in HI" when in fact born in another state or country if the birth certificate was amended by affidavit. Which is what happend with Barry. @RawFoodKevin, in order for "proof" to be presented in court, the case must progress where the court grants discovery. Cases have been brought in the wrong venues, where jurisdiction was an issue. Ultimately a "writ of quo warranto" must be brought in the DC District Court (DCDC).

We've seen an IMAGE of a short-form Certification of Live Birth, which first appeared on DailyKos and seems to have been FORGED. We've never seen the long-form birth certificate that would show verifiable facts like delivering hospital.
His Selective Service registration also seems to be forged, and he's using a Social Security number issued in CT to a man born in 1890.
Let's see it all and have a review of the relevant laws in court.

Obama has been sued to produce it in COURT and has fought every time. So far, the cases have been dismissed for lack of standing, because unless someone can show harm specific to them (as opposed to ALL Americans), they do not have standing.
When a US Army Reserve major sued, someone with standing because he had orders to go to Iraq, Obama had the orders revoked rather than prove his eligibility.

Obama didn't have the orders revoked. The Army RESERVIST had volunteered to go into the battlefield when he wasn't yet called up to do so. Once he volunteered to go into the battlefield, he got "orders", but as a RESERVIST who decided to go into the battlefield before he had to, HE could revoke them himself.

Technicschic, the Army reservist didn't revoke his own orders. That's absurd. The military, of which Obama is currently Commander in Chief, rescinded his deployment orders rather than prove that Obama is eligible to be president. That was another major blow to Obama's credibility.

as per:
§338-16 (c) Such evidence shall be kept in a special permanent file.
§338-21 (b) The evidence upon which the new original certificate is made, and the superseded original certificate shall be sealed and filed and may be opened only upon order of a court of record.
