  • why would you go on stage reading off of a peice of paper?

  • y did marisa fick jordan? poor jordan..

  • come on now?!

  • Your depth of thought is.. astounding.

  • Your mama!?

Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about- I just jumped in.

  • Zulu weavers are no match for chinese factory workers.

  • Who in their right mind would want to compare? They're different societies with different problems and those two groups of people you typed do entirely different things which help them in their own societal, economical and cultural context. In other words, a Chinese factory worker would die of hunger in southern Africa because he doesn't have the skills for what is needed there, and vice versa. Think more.

  • Why are black people all about murder, rape, and theft? See? I can make sweeping generalizations too. Fuck off, idiot.

  • LOL do not kid yourself, murder, rape and theft are all recent ills in our community.

The history of white people with natives from time immemorial has always been about financial exploits.

    I hope this helps.

  • I hope you rethink your false logic. Lets try a simple thought experiment. Lets say that you have no money. ok, now you want to start a music band. I guess you cannot because you have no money for instruments, cars, gas, or anything. Now if you had money, you could have instruments, cars, and money for gas to play at every venue in the world. Basically, money will make things move. It's an accepted certificate of labor.

  • I believe your basically supporting what I just said.

  • I answered money's use, but I meant to add more to basically say, Your generalization "why are white people all about money?" is entirely false when you include "all" in your sentence. To further this, white people like money because they understand its use, but any functioning person can understand that. Please don't make irrational assumptions.

  • @phazt

"white people like money because they understand its use"

You've killed me with that one. I don't know what else to say.

  • no man. be quiet.

  • LOL @ sacapiloa

  • @gian21904 - "murder, rape, and theft" man, thats BS!...

  • It's just the protestants, it's the way they're brought up, the poor fucks.

  • I bet the folks at TED love the fact so many rude people leave comments.

  • i loved the high pitch ringing in my ears. It's FABULOUS

i voted 5 stars because of aweseome annoying high pitch ringing. A++++++ WOULD BUY AGAIN

  • Thanks to TED for not censoring.

  • is the high pitch ringing making anyone else's ears bleed or is it just me?

    *bleed*

  • wtf i cant even make any sense out of what she is saying.

  • ag ya is dit nie nou oulik nie jong

  • yawnfest

  • uh, did anybody get to ask any questions of this woman? culture, capitalism, exploitation. she left out the perspective of the weavers themselves, duh.

  • is there a website to buy these beautiful things?

  • Forgive me but I had the strange urge to put a foot in her ass because of the way she talks !!!!!!! LOL Good thing this video is SHORT

  • TRUE

  • This is fantastic...makes me want to learn how to weave like that. I just hope that the crafters are being compensated fairly!

  • Those are so beautiful!

  • I really enjoyed it. And I wish that your project can be implemented in Iraq.

  • where are these products sold?

  • ...kew...

  • not to be mean or anything but i think them africans affected her accent

  • Her accent comes from her native language Afrikaans, which is based off of dutch.

  • This is incorrect. As an Afrikaner myself, I can tell her accent is of a typical Durbanite speaker who's first language is indeed English. They just have very annoying accents in Durban.

  • too short...

  • Does anybody know where her accent is from?

  • afrikaans inflected south african english.

  • TY Marisa Fick-Jordan for helping and supporting the people who need it

  • This is a nice little video.

It says so much in such a short time.

    I enjoyed it.
