  • Mormon culture... I HATE YOU!

  • As I walked along the cool sand—in my flip-flops—I felt something like a thorn going into the arch of my foot. I looked down and saw not a thorn but a scorpion. As my mind registered the scorpion and I realized what had just happened, the pain of the sting began to rise from my foot and up my leg. I grabbed the top of my leg to try and stop the searing pain from moving farther, and I cried out for help. My parents came running from the camp.

  • One morning after a night’s camping in the desert, I wanted to go exploring, but I did not want to bother with putting on my shoes. I rationalized that I was only going for a little wander and I would stay close by the camp. So instead of shoes, I wore flip-flops. I told myself that flip-flops were shoes—of a sort. And anyway, what could possibly happen?

  • After your initial response, be ready to take the next step. You may invite your friend to attend church with you. Many of our friends do not know they are welcome in our Church buildings. “Come and see” was the Savior’s invitation to those who desired to learn more about Him. 15 An invitation to attend a Sunday meeting with you or to participate in a Church social or service activity will help to dispel mistaken myths and make visitors feel more comfortable among us.

  • Let your response be warm and joyful. And let your response be relevant to that individual. Remember, he or she is also a child of God, that very God who dearly wants that person to qualify for eternal life and return to Him one day. You may be the very one to open the door to his or her salvation and understanding of the doctrine of Christ

  • SALT LAKE CITY -- For the second time in as many weeks, the LDS Church has announced humanitarian relief destined for South America after torrential rains have resulted in extensive flooding, massive mudslides and hundreds of fatalities.

Friday's announcement was for supplies arranged for Brazil, where heavy rains have lingered since midweek. The death toll has reached 539, mostly in the mountainous region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, including the cities of Nova Friburgo and Teresopolis. .

  • exmormonorg Summary; about sixty prophecies of Joseph Smith which were not fulfilled. Mormons may object that some of them may still be fulfilled, for example, Jesus will yet come, Far West temple will yet be built, New York will yet be destroyed, Salem will yet belong to the Mormons, etc. Yet many of the prophecies cannot be fulfilled: the dates for their fulfillment were given, and those dates have passed; the people whose deeds were prophesied have died without their performing those deeds

  • If there's anything more ubiquitous in Utah than ice cream parlors, it's comedy acts catering to the same pure-of-soul clientele with self-parodying skits and plenty of clean, good-natured jokes.

  • A testimony is fortified by spiritual impressions that confirm the validity of a teaching, of a righteous act. Often such guidance is accompanied by powerful emotions that bring tears to the eyes and make it difficult to speak. But a testimony is not emotion. It is the very essence of character woven from threads born of countless correct decisions

  • @solomanspaming "which were not fulfilled"

yes, but ALL of the prophecies of the Prophet Joseph Smith WILL be fulfilled.

  • @omiolo So Jesus will return as a white and delightsome mormon in 1891 as joe's myth predicted? March 1831. D&C 49:9-10. The nations of the earth shall bow to the Mormon gospel or they "shall come down" and "shall be laid low of power.".Sept 22-23, 1832. D&C 84:2-5, 31 Zion will be built with its temple at Independence, "in this generation". This generation shall not all pass away until the temple will be built upon the spot. the generation living in 1832.

  • @solomanspaming I have NO idea what you are babbling about. Maybe you should put down the ANTImormon propaganda and learn some truth?

  • Joseph smith failed in 60 of 65 of his prophecies, he's NOT a prophet. He 'translated' the book o'moron in 1827-1830 by putting his face in his hat to look at 'magic seer' stones. He was arrested in 1826 for conning people into believing he could seek hidden treasure by looking at seer stones in his hat. If you were a hebrew, wouldn't you keep records in HEBREW language? OF COURSE. You'd never keep records in a phony 'reformed egyptian' language.

    MORMONISM=BLASPHEMY

  • @solomanspaming I guess SAYING makes it so, in the ANTImormon world.....

  • @omiolo nice comeback, lady.

Deut.18:21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Joseph Smith is not a prophet. He failed in60 out of 65 prophecies, and 'translated' a non-existant language known as 'reformed egyptian' by looking into his hat.

  • He engendered a growing capacity to recognize the direction of the Spirit. The genius of the gospel plan is that by doing those things the Lord counsels us to do, we are given every understanding and every capacity necessary to provide peace and rich fulfillment in this life. Likewise, we gain the preparation necessary for eternal happiness in the presence of the Lord.

  • March 20, 1839. D&C 121. This is "Prayer and Prophecies" from Joseph Smith while he was a prisoner in the jail at Liberty, Missouri. It contains several prophecies: he will be avenged of his enemies by the sword (v. 5) (this is phrased as a prayer, but God had promised Joseph Smith that his prayers would be answered; he need only ask. D&C 29:6)

FULFILLMENT: None of these prophecies came to pass. Joseph Smith's enemies were not destroyed "by the sword;" the Mormons were driven out of Missouri.

  • April 26, 1838. D&C 115. Revelation concerning the city of Far West, Missouri, God commands the temple to be built; the church will be gathered to Zion (Missouri), Work on the temple is to commence in the summer of 1838, with construction to begin April 26, 1839, with work to continue "diligently until it shall be finished, from the corner stone thereof unto the top thereof, until there shall not anything remain that is not finished." (v. 12)

  • FULFILLMENT: The temple cornerstone was laid, but no more work was ever done and the temple is still not completed. Far West was abandoned by the Mormons soon after this revelation. It would appear that the building of the Far West temple was not the work of God, since God's work cannot be frustrated (see D&C 3:3).

  • Sept 22-23, 1832. D&C 84:2-5, 31 Zion will be built with its temple at Independence, "in this generation". This generation shall not all pass away until the temple will be built upon the spot. Orson Pratt in 1870 reiterated the prophecy (JD 9:71, 10:344, 13:362) and insisted that it will come to pass within the generation living in 1832.

FULFILLMENT: Mormons were driven out of Independence and from all of their settlements in Missouri in 1839. The temple lot is not owned by the Mormon church.

  • Winter 1829-1830. Comp Hist 1:165 Joseph had a revelation that Hiram Page and Oliver Cowdery were to go to Toronto to sell the copyright of the Book of Mormon to raise money.

FULFILLMENT: They went, according to the revelation, but were completely unsuccessful. Joseph Smith "inquired of God" and was told that some "revelations" are not from God, but of the DEVIL. David Whitmer reports this incident in his book An Address To All Believers In Christ, Richmond, 1887,

  • This is consistent with the usage of the ancient Middle East. El Amarna letter #287 reports that "a town of the land of Jerusalem, Bit-Lahmi [Bethlehem] by name, a town belonging to the king, has gone over to the side of the people of Keilah.

  • Thus, the Book of Mormon makes a distinction here between a city and the land associated with a city. It does this elsewhere as well: * the land (Alma 2:15) and city(Alma 6:1) of Zarahemla; * the land and city of Nephi (Alma 47:20).

  • Joe smith is not a prophet, he predicted jesus would return in 56 years and he didn't President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit. . . it was the will of God that they should be ordained to the ministry and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, for the coming of the Lord, which was nigh — even fifty six years should wind up the scene. (History of the Church, Vol. 2, p. 182).

  • Offense comes in many costumes and continually finds its way onstage. People we believe in disappoint us. We have unanticipated difficulties. Our life doesn’t turn out exactly the way we were expecting. We make mistakes, feel unworthy, and worry about being forgiven. We wonder about a doctrinal issue. We learn of something spoken from a Church pulpit 150 years ago that bothers us.

  • Choose Not to Be Offended

To those troubled by the Savior’s divinity, Jesus asked, “Doth this offend you?” 14 In the parable of the sower, Jesus warned, “He … [endureth] for a while: [but] when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

  • Smith 'I prophecy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the state of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted, and there will not be so much as a potsherd left for their wickedness in permitting the murder of men, women and children, and the wholesale plunder and extermination of thousands of her citizens to go unpunished'

  • cont.Joseph Smith made this prophecy in May 6, 1843. However, the United States Government did not redress any of the wrongs committed against the Mormons in Missouri, and now over 150 years later, the U.S. Government still stands.

  • We soon see why a change of heart is necessary. Two words signal danger ahead: the words are offended and ashamed.

Bringing New Testament stories to life.

  • Your religion is a scam, and native americans are not descendants of jews, you don't translate by using seer stones and looking into a hat, & hebrews would use hebrew to write and not 'reformed egyptian' Joseph smith admitted to recieving revelations from the devil when he sent 2 men to Canada to sell the copyright 4 the book of mormon and they didn't. He was wrong about 60 of his 65 'prophecies', he married 11 other mens wives, 2-14 year olds and hid his polygamy. He was an evil conman & perv

  • @solomanspaming 4. "Teachings and Commentaries on the New Testament," Ed J. Pinegar and Richard J. Allen

Draw closer to the Savior as you gain additional understanding of the writings in The New Testament.

  • @omiolo Joe's myth even said that Jesus was born in JERUSALEM, not bethlehem, thats wrong no matter how mormo's tried to explain it, And check out the LDS website family search org to see a list of women joe married that were still married to other men. Joe Smith hid his polygamy, and when the Nauvoo Expositor was printing an article to expose him, he got mad and destroyed their printing press, was jailed for violating their freedom of speech, then lynched for his polygamy with other men's wives

  • @solomanspaming "Jesus was born in JERUSALEM"

actually he said the Land of Jerusalem, or Jerusalem the land of. How did Joseph Smith know that Jerusalem was NOT just a city but a land? Especially since an IDIOT like you still does NOT know that?

  • @omiolo It is obvious that this is a very sensitive issue with these Mormons. According to them, Alma was referring to the surrounding area of Jerusalem and not the city itself. They insist that Alma was a real person, so to credit him with saying that Christ would someday be born in Jerusalem and not in Bethlehem would be a serious faux pas. To say otherwise casts doubt upon the historicity of Mormonism's sacred Book of Mormon.

  • cont. a missionary manual published by the LDS Church entitled Gospel Lessons for the Lamanite People, it reads on page 2 of lesson five, "Nephi lived in America at the time Jesus was born across the ocean in Jerusalem."As mentioned earlier, the Book of Mormon uses the phrase "at Jerusalem" 19 times. Since it has been established that Lehi lived in Jerusalem, this accounts for seven of the 19. (These include 1 Nephi 1:4,7; 1 Nephi 2:13; 1 Nephi 5:4; 2 Nephi 6:8; 2 Nephi 9:5; 2 Nephi 25:6.)

  • @omiolo In the New Testament we have two occasions where Jesus is credited with using the phrase "at Jerusalem" (Luke 24:47 and John 4:21). In both cases we have no reason to believe that it is anything but another reference to the city itself. Luke, John, and Paul all use the phrase at Jerusalem, and in every case it speaks directly to the city.

  • @solomanspaming Chesterfield, Idaho was a Mormon pioneer village, settled along America's earliest highway in 1880. The Chesterfield ghost town is not far from Pocatello

  • @omiolo That has what to do with the price of tea in china? Or did you come up with this comment by putting seer stones AND YOUR FACE into your tophat? Pretty magical. Let's discuss the prophecy of joseph smith that Jesus would return in 1891 that failed. Care to make sense of that one? Again, what about the prophecy where he sent 2 men to Canada to sell the copyrights to the book of mormon because god told him to, then claimed it must have been a prophecy of the devil when they failed?

  • @solomanspaming Once AGAIN you are confused. Do you see the pattern that others do now?

  • @solomanspaming once AGAIN you are confused. Do you see the pattern that EVERY ONE else does?

  • @solomanspaming "the phrase "at Jerusalem""

It is important to note what Alma's words were. He did not claim Jesus would be born in the city of Jerusalem, but "at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers."
