It doesn't matter if you saw him live or not. The spirit is timeless and eternal. Jerry was an inspiration. You're seeing him live right now. The party of life doesn't stop. Enjoy it.
Loved Him very much, miss him more. The best times of my life were with him standing in front of me playing his guitar. Was a great way to spend a life.
I looooove you Jerry <3 My parents promised to take me to see you live since I was little girl, and then you passed away 7 days after my 9th birthday. :( i've seen videos and live concert tapes, and heard many many stories, but nothing could ever compare to a real LIVE, DEAD show :) Rest easy old man <3
all I remember was--it aint over till the fatman melts---stop reading into it--it was what it was---nobody was ever talkin junk about jerry--get over it--people who whine like that have got to be those guys who never got their asses beat once in a while as kids---toughen up -dont be a dick but toughen up
well well well you can never tell...will calling him JerBear be better since you seem to judge one and yourself on image...i hope you realize this, that the nickname Jerry's beloved fans gave him was out of love for him, not to be mean or as a joke He was beautiful as a younger man and remained beautiful even as he put on weight. Im sorry if I offended you...Peace Love and Light...
I think fatman is much more than just fat. To me, it's large, big, the great one, if you will. In any event, it's a term of endearment. Jerry is one of the most beloved musicians of any era. If he only knew or understood how much we love him... Now he does.... And for the endless people who never got to see him and his impact never fades. Maestro!
this is the song my husband and i danced to at our wedding. (15 years latter he still sings it to me.) this is the song i gave birth to my first son to. this is the song that was playing on an ethiopian radio station when we pulled up to our guest house in the middle of the night to meet our fifth, and last, child. i wonder what else this jerry tune has in store for me????
@klock656 very nice. I just remember seeing it performed as the opening to the second set of my first Jerry Band show, Chula Vista, CA, 1992, and I had no idea he covered it and was BLOWN away. Especially with those fantastic backup singers cranked up the way he had them.
@TwinkleRose11 , Does calling him "the fat man" hold some significance to you in relating to his music? Do remember him when he wasn't "the fat man" ? If you do then what anatomical part did you find significance in back then as far as it's relation to his music?
@MrSharkey11 Who gives a shit? He was fat. Love him. He was great thin. He was great fat. With the hair and beard he looked like Santa Claus. Sting called him "Father Christmas." We remember him great, gray, and fat.
@stableshadow , You Know something, you're right! It's just that I remember him trough the years where he wasn't called the fatman exclusively, that's all I'm saying. That's the point I was trying to make. As an example me myself gained wieght in my later years. If anyone called me fatman now I'd tell them to go fuck themselves because I wasn't what you would call fat most of my life..............Peace
I was at this show right infront of jerry. My father passed away that morn. I walked right up to the stage and jerry played knocking on heavens door. Jerry helped me cope with the pain
This was my first show while living out in Philly was able to catch many more in that area of the east coast...miss him so much! The weekend Jerry passed I was out camping...got home had a dozens of messages from friends but the one that stood out the most was the one from my mom who said " sorry honey, I heard your friend passed away" Love you Mom! I was 24
@damamabar I was 22. I still think of how everything happened that day. I don't know if I ever had a chance to meet you my distant friend, or if I ever will, But I will be forever remembering your words that I read just now. I hope that someday we can meet. Until then, I hope that you have the greatest life. We will see, Jerry again!
eternally sorry for those of you who never had chance to see Jerry live and doing his thing.
i only know that for me it was always the most beautiful experiences of my life and i am a much better person for having shared some many hours with this man through his incredible music his music is intertwined with how i live my life, and that, my friends, is a most wonderful thing
@DANNYandBREN badass, saw 7 shows including the 50th bday at what was Irvine meadows amp. wow, so good. also saw the dead 6 times and jgb 7 which is perfect. 13 total jerry shows. wish i would have caught on younger.
@astrofan777 Great story about that 50th bday Irvine show. KLOS was giving away tickets and when they announced it early Sunday morning I told everybody those tickets were mine. That night after the Dead Hour I was the winning caller! Great seats too, right down in the pit. Jerry wasn't looking too good that night. In fact right after that he went into rehab and the Dead canceled the fall tour. RIP Jerry GBNF.
@DANNYandBREN same here, brings me back in touch with my soul every time i listen to his voice, no matter what he's sings, brings me back to the actual time when i traveled when and where .............just to see the dead
Sorry to have to tell you this, but I would do anything to be there to. (no their, mind you). In order for this country to progerss we must take care to spell and puncuate our works and phrases correctly at all times. Please, whom ever you are, work on that. Thanks. And Jerry lves in all of our hearts and minds. Thank you so much Jerry. We love you!!!!!!!!!

I miss this dude. Though I only caught him from 87-94. He had the biggest impact in my life. I still cry when I watch stuff like this.
Need to bring his picture to the next temple burn in Black Rock City and let him go.
He was my friend and teacher.
