Sam was one of the best in the industry IMO. A lot of todays singers could take lessons from this man in recording songs. Most of the junk tunes of today I have no use for. Thanks Sam, RIP...
(FWW7450) on another page for Sam Cooke. ("She was only 16") He was dogging out Sam because he says a 17 year old boy with a 16 year old girl makes the man a pedophile. What an idiot!! But, to answer your question: The verdict for the hotel clerk was Not Guilty-Justifiable Homicide. I don't believe it (not guilty) for 1 second!! It was 1964, "open season" in other words!! Murder!
for some reason whenever I hear this song, I always thought that if you passed by a cotton field in the old south, you'd hear this beautiful, soulful music.
What beautiful songs and what a beautiful voice to sing them sounds like honey flowing....this is this is mercy music it has mercy on ears and hearts of humanity music like this is a blessing to all who listens if they only understood. bring this music back Now!!! restore the beauty of music MTv needs to punish for its abomanations against music .
You think the old chick was trying to put the moves on Sam ? I understand women were constantly throwing themselves at him. It's interesting to hear different people's theories on how Sam really died.
The only reason Sam left us so early was because the good Lord could stand to wait another second for him to lead the heavenly chior singing in heaven. God must be indefinitely generous to have lent him to us for what must have felt an eternity! All the more reason to live a rightous life cause as St. Peter opens the gates of heaven, Sam's glorious voice will be heard from the Lords celestial kingdom!
@Babisys1 i dont get what do u mean by justifyable homicide it was unjustifyed the hotel clerk was dead wrong she could have called security the poor man was robbed by some hooker and took his pants u would have been angry also
@nakifijian i heard he was with a call girl in a motel he want to have a shower and she run off with his trouser and wallet he chased after her and the motle worker just saw a naked guy runing to wards them late at nite so thay shot him thinking he was a crack head or something, just very unlucky
Slavery contrary 2 pop. belief is not eradicated-rape & torture haven't been replaced-Tyranny is very much alive people r sold evryday children in prostitution rings raped, beaten &starved -
women having kids when they can't get a decent meal 4 themselves -they have no birth control either-forced motherhood an unplanned unwanted birth Slavery in all forms must opposed 4 those 2 weak 2 defend themselves- how do you punish the"parent" who sells a child for a pig or goat- the list is infinite
time is ending this was the paton of our direction now we must face reality we was stolen u can see it and here it say thanks to every person that u feel is nesesery and see who says it back do ur part to keep things positive we dont know the time
This is really a passionate social protest song, deeply felt. Cooke makes you feel the misery and despair of the black men in the old chain gangs. They were nameless then, and they are now. Their lives were stolen from them, for crimes they didn't commit. Most of the time they didn't get out alive. The Southern prison system was like the gates of Dante's Hell, where the inscription read "Abandon all hope Ye who enter here".
The people who tell YT to remove their songs or the ones they own are stupid. YT is like a 24 hour commercial. The record company that owns this couldnt afford the free publicity that a video like this brings. How many young people have heard this song before? How many will come across it accidentally and want to buy his Greatest Hits CD after seeing this? Very foolish on companies part. I have bought CD's based on what I watched here.
beautiful song, thank you for posting it, when you heard of talent like this and such a beautiful singing voice been cut off so tragically short or at least before their natural time expired-we all have one-
makes me think with wonder all the beautiful things we've missed. Immediatelly comes to mind all those gone before their time: the two kennedys, Lennon. etc. etc.
I can't believe that I'd forgotten this song, I discovered it about a year ago and just now rediscovered it when a friend mentioned it. Great song by a great artist.
Finally...an original version...looking for it on Youtube since a century...great post my friend !!!....but...sorry...the audio is terrible...what a pity...
