Does Matthew 25:31-46 sound like a "rapture" to you? How about Revelation 14?
And Matthew 13:24-30 and 36-43? NO! Add Genesis 49:10 What do you get?
A - G A T H E R I N G! Revelation and Isaiah and Micah (please read them ) tell us Christ will rule on this earth. His kingdom will be HERE for a 1000 years.
Then (and only then) will the worthy be given the morning star (Revelation, again). Then that 1 verse in Thes. applies. NO RAPTURE IS TAUGHT IN THE BIBLE. Avoid the "blind guides".

Ezekiel 33:4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
@taygolf, What lies has been proven? Can you share? Because if you truly read the bible you will see that prophecy after prophecy was fulfilled thousands of years after they were prophecied. As far as God loving you, he truly does. Hell was not created for people but for the fallen angels and satan. It is all a matter of choice. He paid the price with the shedding of His blood for the remission of our sins. It is not that christians are arogant as you say, it is they know the truth.
The Word of God said that there will be scoffers in the last days that is why there are so many coming on you tube saying that there is no rapture where is the promise of his coming I believe that the church will not face tribulation that shall come on all the earth Praise The Lord for the Rapture!!!!!

The guy is sort of late, don't you think? Maybe when he comes we can ask him about things such as, uh, the holocaust? How foolish of me. He is only looking for illiterate rednecks. Grow up take responsibility for yourself.
@autumncathedral This world is full of sin... Which is what the Holocaust was... It doesnt say in the bible that this life is going to be easy. People die. Tragedy's happen. JESUS IS COMING.. AMEN
@taygolf1234 The bible has been proven to be lies upon lies, besides, there is nothing worth learning from the atrocities, bigotry, and immorality it teaches. People rely on religion because their lives are empty and wasted. No one, other than yourself, will save you from such a state. Grow up. There is no Santa Claus.
@autumncathedral Im sorry you feel that way. I can truly see that you have chosen a life of sin and unrighteous living. The Bible is ALL true. But i will agee that there is one thing that is true that you did say. And that is that Santa Claus isnt real. I wasnt raised to believe in that Pagan garbage. Kinda like you believe in what nothing, right... I follow Christ and i am going to follow him till he comes again... Nobody can tell me different... ur wasting your time
@taygolf1234 You are an immature infant. My beliefs are, uh, real! You are nothing special; just another scared loser who thinks some man in the sky thinks you are special. Christians are amongst the most arrogant, self centered hypocrites in the world. From what you believe you revel that others will burn in some fictitious place made by a god who looooves everyone so much he will burn them for eternity while imbeciles like you will enjoy watching the sinners wallow in pain for all eternity.
@taygolf1234 dude the bible to me is just a scam like what Scientology is >_> everything in the bible can be proven wrong where is the proof god and Jesus and what ever exists? besides a book and dont say church or you truly are like 10 years old -__- i have gone to school and got proof none of that shizzle exists...if you say one word about how god made humans i can prove you wrong and make you look like an idiot.....we evolved from monkeys you idiot scientists proved it

I believe the pretrib rapture teaching is dangerous and will cause many to receive the mark of the beast thinking that "once saved - always saved" teaching - when in fact, they were never saved in the first place.
I believe the tribulation will be a time of testing and the rapture will be at the end when Jesus comes back in His Glory - He does not come back three times - no U-turn mentioned in scripture. His ransomed will meet Him in the sky as he descends to set up His Kingdom on Earth.
It has been uplifting to see all the videos on TheRapture on YouTube...the whole world is rocking and reeling and falling apart---worldwide economic situations...the events in the Middle East like reading all pre-Rapture prophecy from the Bible...and still people act like it will all fix itself somehow. The truth is...like it or not...ready or not... Jesus is coming. See "The Holy Trumpet Case" song video...Merry Christmas--the One we celebrate is coming this time as a King-going Home!
This whole New Testament is false Ahch. Yah is one and always has been Isaiah 43:11, There never was a "Jesus the only begotten son". Yah had only one son and that is all of Israel Exodus 4:22, II Samuel 7:14. The old testament never speaks of this Jesus. Emanuel which means (The strong one is with you) was Isaiah's son. Isaiah 53 was speaking of all of Israel just look at verse 10 it says, "he shall see his seed" and prolong his days. Christ had no children and died at age 33.
Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah described Him better than any New Testament book.
@ur4givn Read down to verse 10... "He shall see his seed and prolong his days." Christ had no children and died a young man. So this couldn't have been talking of Christ. This chapter is refering to all of Israel. Exodus 4:22, Hosea 11:1. The most high has only one son and that is all of Israel.
All we like sheep have gone astray; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted...
Isaiah described the crucifixion better than any New Testament writer. Just amazing!
then tells the mom, that is her problem go ask some1 else, how is that possible 2 have LOVE in a time like the tribulation, but cant do it in 2days time?it just seems 2 me they will have 2 have a Lot more Love then that if they plan on making it through the tribulation.
who feel Christians will be left here,to have enough LOVE,Patients, and all that it will require, and demand 2 make it through the tribulation, when they tell a young mother holding her 2year old son burning up with fever, and she ask 2 use the phone 2call the doctor, because she is just moved in,and her phone has not been turned on yet,and this woman who claims Christains are gonna be left here, and says the only hope of making it through,is to have a Great Love for our Lord.
now call me nuts or what have you,but it just seems its going 2 require a LOT of LOVE,Patients,Self Control,in order 2 make it through it.dont you think?yet this women i knew was far from that, and so was her family who believed the Christain will be left here.i mean they could say some mean and hurtful things, now how ever it turns out,as to if Christians get Raptured are not,we are still 2 show Love 2 the lost,as well as2another,but what im saying is how is it possible,4 folks like this women,
some Christians believe in the Rapture, and some dont,im 1 who believes there will be a Rapture, but i could be wrong,i hope im not wrong, but my point is,i once knew a lady who firmly believed the Christians, will be left here,so 4 a moment lets all us Christians who believe in a Rapture assume her and many others have it right.but from what i read in the Bible, about the tribulation, its going 2 be a horrible, horrible, time,i dont think any1 can grasp just how bad its gonna be.
The Rapture will be here very soon as God has given me three dreams about the BEAST - the Anti-Christ: In the Second Dream - I saw a man 40-45 years old standing in the temple in Jerusalem wearing a dark green suit w/ gold & green necktie & sporting beard & mustache. Had his hand upon the Throne Chair - which had Expensive Jewels embedded into it & 6 Ornamental - Wooden Spirals rising to the top. Having his photo taken to show his great importance to the world. The TIME is Short - REPENT NOW!
@dagoose109 The Bible is just a fruit of the tree, since the year 1054 'till present is being twisted left and right, everyone is getting its own interpretation, got me? @DOCSAFETUBE . FACT- Christianity did not have origins in roman civilization because peter was not a roman catholic as most people believe. FACT- True Christians will not kill in the name of God because Jesus said to love our enemy and bless them that curse us. FACT- The bible was written by men under the inspiration of GOD. FACT- His name was Jeshua which when translated into English says JESUS. FACT- we use the term rapture which means " a quick caught up" The words caught up are in the Bible
Dude..!! go and investigate it yourself and stop wasting my time. This is what will happen, if you don't believe it, that's your problem, not mine. Go bother someone else..!!
@khurramc73 Jesus died and rose to pay the sin debt for all mankind. The deity and genealogy are very well recorded, as well as the healings and miracles He preformed. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is very real and get ready because according to scriptures, He is coming soon to judge this world according to unrightousness. "Knowing this first that in the last days shall come scoffers walking after their own lusts and saying where is the promise of His coming" 11Peter chap. 3
@khurramc73 Oh, another atheist. You are putting Christ in the same catagory as harry potter? What a pity. Jesus wants you in Heaven also my friend, but only if you seek Him in truth. Time is very near and the Bible says on the last day that there shall be weaping and wailing and nashing of teeth. There is a purpose to this life and it's not worldly things, evolution and hating God. Just remember, eternity is a very, very long time to be in total torment.
@khurramc73 All da evidence needed, iz wen u see da miraclez happend, i been saved by God bruh, daz a miracle ryte ther, pray, believ n u'l hav ur evidence, juz gotta Trust homie.
@crossdaily1 How do you account for the numerous times that Jesus says that his return will happen within the lifetime of the people he was talking to? That was 2,000 years ago and it didn't happen.
Matt 16:28- I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death
before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
Mark 13:30- I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not
pass away until all these things have happened. ...
@stefatrop The Lord promised He would keep us from the hour of temptation (great tribulation) which would fall upon the whole earth and try them who dwell upon the earth.
Also, the Holy Spirit will be removed (the church) before the son of perdition is revealed. Also, the 16 chapters in revelation reveals the the church is not on earth and we (the saints) will come back with Him at the second coming. It is very clear in the Bible that Gods children are not under the penalty of Gods wrath.
@crossdaily1 Yes, I understand that you have an opinion about when the Rapture will occur, that much is very clear.
My question, which you haven't answered, still stands; how do you account for the numerous times in the Bible where Jesus tells his followers that the Rapture will occur in their lifetime (Matt 16:28) and during the generation they were living in (Mark 13:30)? These are very straightforward verses. What do you make of these specific passages?
@stefatrop First of all, Jesus was talking to them about the latter days, or the last days not the first century. I'm not quite sure what you want me to say except, for the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet call of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then, we which are alive and remain shall be caught up(raptured) together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. 1 Thes 4:16-17
@stefatrop If you remember one of them didnt taste death before he saw it. John saw it. In Mark 13 he talks about the parable of the fig tree. He said when we saw the fig tree's leaves come out we would know summer is near. The fig tree is israel, and summer is jesus's coming. He is talking about the generation to see the fig tree bloom. THAT generation shall not pass away until all things have happened.
@MnSPictures First of all, your argument isn't substantiated until you also account for Jesus' assertion in Mark 13:30 "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
Don't cherry pick Bible verses. Account for Mark 13:30.
Secondly, I don't know where on earth you think Jesus mentioning the yearly occurrence of a fig tree blooming qualifies you to say he meant Israel 2000 years later.
Jesus said to the people around him "this generation".
when god comes the wicked will be destroyed by the brightness of his comming 2 Thessalonians 2: 8, there is no second chance just as the days of lot and noah where so shall the comming of the son of man shall be. THe wicked people outside of the ark died, the people in sodom and gomarh died. Jeremiah 4: 23- 26 says the world will have no habitations. The left behind theory doesnt fit nowhere in the bible.
I GUARANTEE you there will be no Rapture. Thessa. 14:13- Deals with the Siege that took place about 1900 years ago that is explained in Ezekiel 5. Yahoshoua told his apostles that this generation shall not pass until all this has happened Luke 21:31-32. Revelations deals with our generation only. Yah'oshoua is not coming back until the battle of Armeggedon and we reign with him for a thousand years on Earth. Thy Kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Amen I just Thank the Lord everyday...and I pray He keeps me by the power of the Holy Spirit and His Blood, He is coming soon... Thy Kingdom lives within each one of us that believes in Him. Here on Earth as it is in Heaven, there is a time in the future that Jesus will reign for 1000 years, it will be Heaven on earth....
Can anyone answer me this. Where in the bible does it quote that we will go to Heaven when we die? Why does it say Matthew 6:10, "Thy Kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven." Have we been falsely taught that we will go to Heaven when we die? John 3:13 No man has ascended to Heaven. Why would Yah raise up the dead from there graves at the last trumpet if they were in Heaven? 1 Corinthians 15:52. When is the last trumpet Revelations 11:15. So how will there be a Rapture to Heaven. Think people!
@iam7who7iam7 I think you're a little confused. The rapture is the single greatest event that will take place since the ressurrection of Jesus Christ. The "Kingdom" on earth will take place during the Millennium that will take place after the 21 judgements of God. The children of the Almighty God that have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior are not subject to Gods wrath as spoken in Rev Chap 3. The saints ride back with Christ exactly 3.5 years after the abomination of desolation.
@crossdaily1 This Rapture that you speak of is not the Rapture of the saints but the Rapture of the wicked. So as it were in the days of Noah and Lott so it will be in the day coming of the son of man. What happened in the days of Noah and Lott? Alot of wicked people were wiped out. The apostels are warning us not telling us we will be taken out of the Earth. Come out of these churches (BABYLON) and read the bible for yourselves. Stop listening to these money hungry preachers.
no man knows the hour not even the angels in heaven but the father only behold he cometh like a theif in trhe night just be ready because no one knows thats we have to live right and get right before he come and catch you sleeping what I say to all I watch.............
No man knows when the world will end. Indeed the time of the end of the world was not even communicated by the Father to the human nature of the Son (Matt.24,36). However, in the Gospels the Son of God does tell us of the signs which must come to pass before the end of the world. What are these signs and what conclusions, however hesitant, can we draw from them about the times in which we live?
@Serge1965 I implore you to be cautious with the words you choose, although I know it can be difficult at times, I've been there. We must remember to never lose our testimony. God is not negligent, and although there are most definitely -extra biblical- sources confirming Jesus did live as a man, there is a -reason- why you can read about who he really was and what was accomplished through the crucifixion -only- in the bible. Remember that
@metero1337 Name one extra-biblical source that confirms Jesus did live as a man. ONE.
Remember, and extra-biblical source that has "heard of Jesus", or mentions having heard of a person named Jesus as the founder of a religious group, or mentions Christianity, doesn't confirm his actual existence.
And extra-Biblical source that confirms his existence would be,
1) Jesus leaving behind an artifact that he himself signed, or wrote.
2) Someone outside the Bible who claims to have met him.
@stefatrop Oh and you so know what you're talking about. Aside from several historians (jewish and roman included) who account about the spread of christianity and it's root influence, you'd conclude that they were simply deluded and everything that followed is a giant, convenient conspiracy. We have history itself attesting to the impact of christianity and it's development and you just throw out this meager argument of "one person claimed to have met him". Think much?
I actually believe Jesus WAS a real person. I have no reason to think he wasn't. My point was very simple; there aren't extra-biblical sources that can CONFIRM his existence.
You're mistaking extra-biblical sources that "refer" to Jesus and "refer" to Christianity, as one's that can "confirm" Jesus' existence.
I've heard of Jesus and Christianity too, but that doesn't mean I'M an extra-biblical source that confirms Jesus REALLY existed.
By the way, "history itself attests to the impact of" (Santa Claus in America) "and it's development" as well, but you don't see me telling you that because someone outside of a Christmas Carol heard of Santa Claus that that confirms his existence.
@stefatrop Oh I'm cool. Santa claus is universally acknowledged as nothing more than a myth. Do you see anyone trying to make arguments or defend the existence of santa claus? If you can see how that example applies here, you'd also see how you really haven't given me anything to "think about". Also, if you believe Jesus was a real person, your entire argument is out of place.
My point was just because people have HEARD OF SANTA CLAUS, that doesn't mean SANTA EXISTS.
...That DOESN'T MEAN SANTA EXISTS.
...DOESN'T MEAN
...DOESN'T.
I'm telling you Santa doesn't exist. Get it?? I'm saying that. My point is just because someone outside a Christmas Carol has heard of "Santa Clause", that DOESN'T mean there's a Santa.
@stefatrop It’s not that I am thick, it’s simply that you’re clinging to an analogy that is completely insignificant. Whether or not you hear of santa claus in or outside of a Christmas carol, he is universally acknowledged as a myth. Your analogy fails to bring any weight to the conversation whatsoever, as you can yell to your blue in the face, Jesus will never be universally acknowledged as a myth, so there is absolutely no comparison or no logic to your analogy.
In order for the analogy to work, I have to refer to something that you and I both acknowledge "exists" AS A CULTURAL REFERENCE POINT, but doesn't "exist" as a fact.
The fact that Santa is a "myth" isn't of any importance, but essential to my point.
In order to make the point, I HAVE to refer to something that YOU acknowledge as a cultural reference point and that YOU know doesn't exist.
@stefatrop I understand what you are trying to say, but once again I am telling you how the analogy is ultimately insignificant. "I'm completely familiar with the dead sea scrolls. Mentioning them does nothing to further your argument." What? Of COURSE it does when you want to try and tell me how our Bibles today are "exaggerated" and have somehow been distorted. Are you not even following your own words?
@stefatrop “This city, which you claim exists, is like the Jesus of the Gospels.”
Wrong. The city represents the evidence left behind that “something” did happen, which would be what we can see through history. You cannot say the city does not exist without denying the evidence i.e. denying history. What you are trying to do is deny there ever was a nuclear strike (which is Jesus) despite the fact that there is evidence attesting to it
@metero1337 According to your reasoning, the fact that Islam exists today is proof that Muhammad really DID receive the Koran from Allah (in which, incidentally, Muhammad says Christians are mistaken.
Why? Look at history! Look at how widespread Islam is! Look at the incredible impact Islam has had on culture in the middle east! Look how many centuries it's been around!
Look at the nuclear strike that is Islam! Why do you deny it?
@stefatrop “YOUR REASONING IS FLAWED.”You say this because you’re making your own conclusions FOR me.The facts you all mentioned concerning Islam is obviously proof Mohammed did exist, as everything that followed was initiated by him. contd...
@stefatrop YOUR argument is based on denying the existence of Jesus, and I am reiterating that very same argument applied to Christianity, the emergence of the church and spreading of christianity DID NOT COME FROM NOWHERE.There HAD to be an initiator whether you want to believe it or not.
@metero1337 I never said it came from nowhere. Just for the record, this is about the fourth time I've repeated that I think Jesus WAS a historical figure. What is your problem?
My POINT, AGAIN, is that no one OUTSIDE the Gospels, can confirm Jesus' existence. They can acknowledge that a person named Jesus was SAID to exist, that Christians exist, that the Christian movement existed, and that he was SAID to have been crucified, but they can't CONFIRM his existence.
We can suppose this person existed because of the huge following that is created. Problem is, we have no outside sources to tell us anything about this friend. Anything. No documents, no encounters, no interactions with people who decided to write about him on their own, outside of this book that was written about him.
How can this be? He healed hundreds, performed miracles in front of hundreds, resurrected and appeared in front of hundreds,
It tells us that the HISTORICAL Jesus, had a ministry, went around preaching forgiveness and a radical new doctrine, was crucified and just died.
But the "stories" that developed about Jesus were that he performed miracles and resurrected.
People didn't witness the miracles, or they would have THEMSELVES written about them. Instead, people started believing the "stories" of miracles that developed around Jesus' ACTUAL message, and a religion was born.
There is a point and purpose why the true identity of Jesus is found solely in the bible, and if you cannot swallow this then it is your issue not mine, don't come to me and start trying to justify yourself to me. You believe he was a historical person, but the Bible is very detailed in what his ministry entailed, what his claims are, and what his true identity is.
@metero1337 There's a "point" why four anonymous gospels that borrowed heavily from each other for information are the "sole" places to learn about Jesus?
This is very precarious ground you're treading on..
What "point" might that be? Do tell. I'll be waiting
@stefatrop"I didn't say it was all a lie." This is exactly what you are saying, that what is found in the bible are a collection of embellished stories that aren't true. What the heck are you trying to come at? Legends that developped? His ministry and words are COMPLETELY tied into the mircales he did AND his resurrection, you cannot separate the two and claim one to be true and the other un true. You either believe it is all true or all fake.
@metero1337 No, I didn't say it was all a lie. Again, I'm going to have to repeat myself.
Thinking RATIONALLY, given the Bible, we can determine that the "message" of Jesus is the result of a particular person, but that the "embellishments" (written as they were by people who didn't meet Jesus or witness the "miracles") were the result of time and legends developing.
Rational inquiry draws from human wisdom. If you actually knew about the Biblical God (creator) you’d also know how much He disdains human wisdom and disqualified it as a means to discover his truth. It’s all over the bible, Paul even talks about it (God using the foolish things of the world to confound the wise).
@metero1337 Wow, that's amazing. Look at all you've learned about wisdom from ONLY THE BIBLE. That's amazing. According to ONLY THE BIBLE human wisdom is disqualified because it CONTRADICTS THE BIBLE.
You really can't see it, can you?
Copernicus, CENTURIES ago, using "human wisdom" discovered the Sun DOESN'T revolve around the EARTH (a major justification for Christianity, that Man is the "center" of everything) but that it's the other way around.
Not my opinion, biblical truth. God disdained human wisdom as a means to KNOW HIM, you cannot find god using your own WISDOM AND RATIONALE, thats the WHOLE POINT and CONTEXT.
@metero1337 No, God doesn't disdain human wisdom, someone WROTE God disdains human wisdom, and someone else told you that this sentence is the word of God. God didn't write the Bible, Jesus didn't write the Bible, PEOPLE wrote the Bible, and OTHER PEOPLE said it's God's word.
Someone, some person, wrote "God disdains human wisdom" and you decided that this sentence is therefore a statement true of God.
@metero1337 Buddy, I used to be a Born-Again Christian. Whatever your thoughts on the authenticity or my walk with God, it was a five year period where I was totally on fire for my faith.
You can't throw around "not my opinion, biblical truth" to someone who knows Christianity, and knows how inadequate that statement is. Even when I was a Christian, I'd have taken you aside and said, "not my opinion, biblical truth" doesn't cut it when talking about evidence FOR the Bible being credible.
@stefatrop In the last days many shall depart from the faith. This is very dangerous my friend. There is no doubt that Jesus is coming and very soon, so why do you follow the world which cares nothing for you and deny your Creator and what He did at the cross for you and me and all of humanity who believes in Him? I'm here to tell you truth, the world thinks we are crazy, weird, paranoid, fear mongers and follows of nothing, but as in the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.
@stefatrop “What "point" might that be? Do tell. I'll be waiting”
If you refuse to acknowledge Jesus for what the Bible reveals him to be, there IS no point. The bible is meant to be the sole authority of the creator God, and Jesus plays a pivotal role in this context, you obviously know this, I needn’t explain. Contd..
@metero1337 Do you know how the Bible came to be? Church leaders chose certain books and not others. They PICKED some books and rejected others.
Yet you cling to the notion that "The Bible" is something "meant to be the sole authority of the creator God".
How can you regard a book that other people "compiled" and bound together as an act of God? You think it's infallible, but how? People put it together, like an anthology.
You're completely programmed, and you have no sense of rational inquiry
@stefatrop Going outside this authority once would give man excuse to somehow find God outside of the parameters he has defined, yet you are demanding that God should have done this nonetheless because it would somehow change your disposition and give you “reason” to believe
@metero1337 You're completely indoctrinated. You see, if we talk long enough about any Biblical issue, you do what most Christians do; You shift into a mode wherein the Bible is a magical book "meant" to be the way it is, and a book that is the way it is because God "made it that way".
It's a childish way of looking at the inconsistencies and flaws of ANY religion.
"What about the fact that the Gospels have no titles and are anonymous?"
@metero1337 There's a reason why the word "Islam" means "submission". It's so that only people who embrace to the teachings, literally submit to them COMPLETELY, are said to be "truly" Islamic. It's a tactic used in all of the monotheistic religions.
Somewhere, at some point, someone got you to ACCEPT AND NOT QUESTION that the Bible is "magic" and that it's "inspired". This is tactic of religion to permanently "hook" people, and on you, it worked.
@stefatrop "No, I didn't say it was all a lie." You can only accept something to be truth or lie, if you do not esteem it as a lie as you claim then the implication is that you hold it as true. There is a heavy contradiction on your part concerning this. "were the result of time and legends developing." Again, again, again, you throw out BASELESS statements. Once again the miracles and works of Jesus occurred in DIRECT relation with his ministry and wordsYou are making no sense, contd..
@metero1337 A baseless statement is "I believe a miracle occurred because a book says so." THAT'S a baseless statement.
I simply said the teachings are mostly his, but MIRACLES are likely just stories.
THAT'S common sense.
If you read the writings of Einstein in a book that also claimed he flew, you'd RATIONALLY conclude the writings were from a "specific" person but that the miracles were NOTHING BUT STORIES.
It's that simple. Believing in miracles is never rational. It just isn't.
@stefatrop ..You either believe Jesus HIMSELF and everything that surrounds him is a giant, embellishment that is outright false or that it is all true, you fail to understand this.
“Church leaders chose certain books and not others.”
This doesn’t detract from the fact that without divine inspiration (God breathed), the Bible would not exist, period.
One could just as easily say without divine inspiration the Upanishads wouldn't exist, without divine inspiration the Koran wouldn't exist, without divine inspiration the Tibetan book of the Dead wouldn't exist.
You think writing something like "without divine inspiration" means it was divinely inspired?? Where do you learn such unfounded nonsense?
And writing "period" doesn't mean you've made a point.
@stefatrop “How can you regard a book that other people "compiled" and bound together as an act of God”
An ex-christian and you cannot understand the simple concept of sovereignty? If you refuse to acknowledge God how can you even begin to evaluate what you believe to be an act of God or not? Do you not think something as valuable as God’s own word (synonymous with His being: John 1) would somehow fall prey to whatever shady “corruption or error” you are incessantly trying to beg?
@metero1337 Yeah, you're doing it again. You're; 1) FIRST believing in a God that "makes a divinely inspired Bible", then, 2) Believing the Bible is therefore "divinely inspired" because it's FROM a God that "divinely inspires" the Bible. It's circular reasoning. It's why you think you're being rational, but you're not. In order to be rational you'd have to; 1) Prove that the Bible is divinely inspired, then, 2) Permit yourself to believe it's "inspired". Youve switched them around. Irrational
So it all boils down to you believing is childishness? According to you, God is not allowed to be God? You believe you have the right to dictate what God should have and shouldn’t have done? Just because there are other monotheistic religions claiming to be “the truth”, we write every one off as false? Counterfeits cannot exist?
@metero1337 You're the one talking about what God is and isn't, not me. I'm simply showing you why the Bible can't be rationally believed in.
You're so enmeshed in YOUR view of God that if I refute it, you think I must be personally rejecting YOUR notion of God, because YOUR notion of God is the one that exists. It's incredibly arrogant.
I haven't even begun to discuss "God" with you.
I'm simply pointing out the flaws in the Christian argument for IT'S view of God.
@stefatrop What about how the fact that the bible is written over 1500 years by several authors and yet the revelation of the biblical God has ALWAYS remained intact and coherent? Is it all “somehow” a giant, engineered falsity?
@metero1337 Church leaders "picked" books that went together. They took 1500 years of writing, and threw out what didn't fit and kept what did, bound them together and called it "The New Testament".
You're amazed that the God of the Bible seems "intact and coherent"??
If I published an anthology of fiction that spanned 1500 years and 100 authors, and chose a theme, would you be BLOWN AWAY because that theme was found in the published book??
@stefatrop You can either accept it, reject it, or ignore it. You try to throw in other variables such as "exaggerations" as if they add more weight to your argument when they do not. You are concluding at face value that everything found in the new testament is a LIE, so why are you wasting your time with me? Go your own way, unless you absolutely feel the need to justify yourself before me in order to feign some sort of satisfaction, But I will seriously not waste my time
@metero1337 I didn't say it was all a lie. How many times do I have to repeat myself? I'm saying that the message of Jesus is probably all his own words, but the miracles, including the resurrection, are probably just stories and legends that developed.
What YOU need to do is realize that your belief in the veracity of the Bible comes exclusively from a belief that it's INSPIRED by God, and not the result of rational inquiry. This belief allows you to "smooth over" the problems I've mentioned.
@stefatrop“Over time stories exaggerate, grow, distort.”
So you take some grossly arbitrary statement and try to apply it to the Bible without having any basis for it whatsoever? This is the same tired argument peddled incessantly by critics like yourself, an argument based on ignorance. The most intellectual critics of the bible don’t even pursue this argument, as they actually -know- just how powerful its documentation is (most out of any text known to mankind). Cont...
@metero1337 You think it's grossly arbitrary to remind you that the Gospels weren't written by people who witnessed Jesus' miracles? You think it's grossly arbitrary to point out that 35+ years passed before these "non-witnesses" wrote down the stories they heard after 35+ years but did nothing to VERIFY the stories they were told?
You actually think that qualifies as a grossly arbitrary assertion?
@stefatrop ... Not to mention when they discovered the dead sea scrolls. Know how old they are? Know what happened when they compared it to other modern day bible translations?
@stefatrop “Anybody other than "believers that the city exists" who can actually describe this city or has been there?”
One, we are told plenty all about him within the context of the Bible, so much so that it goes a very long way to detail it for us. Secondly, how ridiculous this statement becomes due to how no one else would make claims nor spread the word about this man unless they ARE believers.
@metero1337 None of the Gospels have the names of an author on them. The names "According to Matthew", "Mark", "Luke", "John", were designations later Church leaders attributed to the manuscripts simply because they reflected the "tone" of the various persons.
All of the Gospels are anonymous.
I can't believe you're a Christian and you don't know this.
@metero1337 After being raised in a Christian household, and active in a Christian Youth Group in high school, I renewed my commitment to my faith and became a Born-Again Christian for five years, taught Sunday School, was on the leadership team for the Inner Varsity Christian Fellowship at my University, where I also led a Bible study. Leaving Christianity was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
Do not presume to tell me what MY view is of the Bible. You have no idea.
@stefatrop the new testament is affirmed by locations and political figures that ARE confirmed “extra-biblically”. An analogy, you walk into a city that has been devastated. The land is charred and irradiated, the structures have been leveled, and you even observe an impact crater. All the evidence is there pointing to a nuclear weapon being the cause of the city’s demise, yet since you didn’t see it with your own eyes nor “heard it mentioned from anyone else”, you do not accept that conclusion
The importance of a non-biblical account of Jesus has only partly to do with Jesus being a real person. Like I said before; of course he was; there was a person, named Jesus, who existed and said a lot of profound things. That really isn't widely contested.
The reason why extra-biblical information is so important is so that we can COMPARE the Gospel-writers' stories about who he was, with the stories non-believers tell.
Jesus, because he was written about years after his ministry, by people who collected stories about him, we're likely to write down simply that; STORIES. Over time stories exaggerate, grow, distort. As a result, we need to know if the stories about him reflect the way he actually WAS DURING HIS LIFE, or exaggerated TALL TALES about him.
Since no extra-biblical accounts exist AT ALL, it's doubtful Jesus actually acted and behaved the way his followers claim.
Jesus never wrote anything, never commissioned the writing of anything, never told anyone there would be a "New Testament" that Christians would use as a guide book for living, never engaged with someone outside the Bible in order to substantiate his miracles for EVEN non-believers.
The Gospels are written thirty-five years later by people who weren't eye-witnesses and who gathered "stories" they heard, about people who's names are never even mentioned.
You're trying to move the argument by way of your analogy. This city, which you claim exists, is like the Jesus of the Gospels. The city is there, but because I didn't see it with my own eyes, I don't accept that conclusion.
The fact of the matter is, there IS NO CITY.
There is a STORY about a city. A magical city that performs miracles and raises from the dead.
Anybody other than "believers that the city exists" who can actually describe this city or has been there?
Hey, I just talked to my grandma. She's heard of Jesus!
And then I spoke to her mailman, and he's heard of Christians!
What's more, I heard from some jackass on Youtube that a Roman Emperor once heard superstition broke out re: Jesus death!
Thats four, FOUR extra-Biblical validations for the resurrection!!
Yup! Proof the resurrection really occurred because my grandma, her mailman and a Roman Emperor all heard of Jesus and heard of Christians!! Awesome & completely stupid!!
not only in Judea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their center and become popular. (Bettenson, p. 2) In about 112 A.D. the Roman governor of what is now northern Turkey wrote to Emperor Trajan regarding the Christians in his district:"I was never present at any trial of Christians; therefore I do not know what are the customary penalties or investigations, and what limits are observed. . .
Nero was blamed for being responsible: Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus [Christ], from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilate, and a most mischievous superstition [Christ's resurrection] thus checked for the moment, again broke out
Acts 1:11 also shows his once appearing is NOT a secret at all as per the modern day rapture philosophy says different then the true word of God says. Caught up event occurs like the word says it will, not as the hal lindseys types think though! It is FALSE HOPE FOR WICKED PPL WHO SEEK A SIGN.
rapture is heretical. I have refuted that man made document long ago. Yeshua only returns Once. Hebrew 9:28 & Eph 1:10, Mattew 3:12(fan), 13:37-42, 24:14 show plainly he visibly loudly only appears ONE time and the fan-angels reap ONE time Not twice in any partial way. Ps 50:3-6, 68:1-3, Isa 64:1-3, 2 Peter 3:10 , 2 thess 1:8-9, 2:8-9 describe what Will happen at his appearing so the modern day rapture you think is so is false.
@zobcity01 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
@Serge1965 You flat out, dont get it! I hope you dont try to time a car engine like you misinterpret timing of his appearence and misinterpreting the verses your try to act like an authorative expert about. lindsey heresy has done a number on your logic. Many False prophets shall arise decieving Many. Many!
@zobcity01 Well, i will explain to you on the way up, that is of course if you were born from above, i guess you have a hard time seeing that God says what He means and means what He says but i will pray that the Holy Spirit reveals this to you.
@Serge1965 "I will explain to you on the way up"? (What, it's like an elevator, with "chat-time" as you make your way up??)
I can't think of anything more unbearable than a fellow "Christian" lecture on the "right" interpretation of the Rapture as they're trying to concentrate on meeting the Lord!!
2) You're bickering about the details of a shared fantasy. It's been 2000 years guys, every other Christian who's ever lived and said it's COMING SOON has been dead wrong.
@stefatrop Its a way of saying: you will get it when we are in the clouds with the Lord, in the meantime, i will continue to read the Bible litterally because God says what He means and means what He says and when the Bible talks about a snatching or a taking away, i take this very seriously because my God can do all things and if you really need to go thru the Great Trib, gp ahead, i have read that i was not appointed to wrath, maybe you are? Tell me, what does born again mean to you?
@Serge1965 You actually don't mean, "God says what He means and means what he says",
What you REALLY mean is, "The people who wrote the Bible tell me God says what he means and tell me He means what he says". You have no direct information about God Himself at all. You have merely what OTHER PEOPLE have written.
What's more,
God can't do all things, the people who wrote the Bible SAY that God can do all things. You need to understand this distinction.
@stefatrop Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good work(2 Tim. 3:16-17)
@Serge1965 Wow. That's about the flimsiest defense of the Bible I've ever heard. Essentially, your position is that the Bible is TRUE because it was COMPILED.
66 books; compiled. 40 authors; compiled. Authors didn't know each other; compiled. Written over 1500 years; compiled. Written in 3 languages; compiled. Various places; compiled. Varying walks of life; compiled.
Congratulations, you've managed to described all the criteria necessary for an ANTHOLOGY OF FICTION.
@stefatrop And all 66 books pointing to Jesus Christ and what is even more amazing is prophecy written so acurately that Jesus Christ fulfilled 365 of them at His 1st coming as Savior and will fulfill 1845 more prophecies with the same 100 % rate of acuracy but this time, not as Savior but as Avenger of blood and to destroy His enemies, man, you are the one on shaky grounds, good luck to ya!
@Serge1965 Can you stop for a moment and listed to how you sound? "All 66 books pointing to Jesus Christ"? What does that even mean? All "pointing" to Jesus? Seriously, what the hell does that mean?
And by the way, if I listened to every person who said that Jesus was coming "soon", it would stretch back 2000 years, right up to the point where Jesus himself said that he would return within the disciples' lifetime.
Not exactly shivering in my boots on the whole, "any minute now" Rapture talk.
@Serge1965 So sorry. How silly of me. Santa is someone; We tell children exists, Who knows what they do, Who rewards or punishes them for their good or bad behavior, Who is depicted as a fatherly figure with a long white beard, Who lives far away in a magical palace, Who children decide is real by "believing in" (I could go on).. Sorry, buddy. What a preposterous comparison. You're a chump. (And eventually, Santa is someone we tell children doesn't exist. Which is what I'm doing for you.)
there will be no more pain again yay praise the lord

I look forward to the day when all those bible thumping numb nuts are gone forever.
Imagine a world without those useless, braindead, god botherers. No more televangelists, bad christian rock groups, gospel singers and self righteous fundy retards.
It would be fabulous. I hope that day comes soon.

Had his hand upon the Throne Chair - which had Expensive Jewels embedded into it & 6 Ornamental - Wooden Spirals rising to the top. Having his photo taken to show his great importance to the world. 3

the stories of zeus and krishna and harry potter are also recorded quite well.
in fact harry potter has quite a few movies out too.
but they are all false.

Mark 13:30- I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not
pass away until all these things have happened. ...
What is your response to this??
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop The Lord promised He would keep us from the hour of temptation (great tribulation) which would fall upon the whole earth and try them who dwell upon the earth.
Also, the Holy Spirit will be removed (the church) before the son of perdition is revealed. Also, the 16 chapters in revelation reveals the the church is not on earth and we (the saints) will come back with Him at the second coming. It is very clear in the Bible that Gods children are not under the penalty of Gods wrath.
crossdaily1 1 year ago
@crossdaily1 Yes, I understand that you have an opinion about when the Rapture will occur, that much is very clear.
My question, which you haven't answered, still stands; how do you account for the numerous times in the Bible where Jesus tells his followers that the Rapture will occur in their lifetime (Matt 16:28) and during the generation they were living in (Mark 13:30)? These are very straightforward verses. What do you make of these specific passages?
I'm waiting for a response.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop First of all, Jesus was talking to them about the latter days, or the last days not the first century. I'm not quite sure what you want me to say except, for the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel and the trumpet call of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then, we which are alive and remain shall be caught up(raptured) together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. 1 Thes 4:16-17
THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED YET.
crossdaily1 1 year ago
@crossdaily1 Given the two verses I've indicated;
Matt 16:28- I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death
before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
Mark 13:30- I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not
pass away until all these things have happened.
Can you please point out the precise scripture that indicates Jesus is in fact referring to some OTHER audience, and some OTHER generation?
Please be specific.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop If you remember one of them didnt taste death before he saw it. John saw it. In Mark 13 he talks about the parable of the fig tree. He said when we saw the fig tree's leaves come out we would know summer is near. The fig tree is israel, and summer is jesus's coming. He is talking about the generation to see the fig tree bloom. THAT generation shall not pass away until all things have happened.
MnSPictures 1 year ago
@MnSPictures First of all, your argument isn't substantiated until you also account for Jesus' assertion in Mark 13:30 "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
Don't cherry pick Bible verses. Account for Mark 13:30.
Secondly, I don't know where on earth you think Jesus mentioning the yearly occurrence of a fig tree blooming qualifies you to say he meant Israel 2000 years later.
Jesus said to the people around him "this generation".

Thy Kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven.

spiritdovedurand 1 year ago
Can anyone answer me this. Where in the bible does it quote that we will go to Heaven when we die? Why does it say Matthew 6:10, "Thy Kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven." Have we been falsely taught that we will go to Heaven when we die? John 3:13 No man has ascended to Heaven. Why would Yah raise up the dead from there graves at the last trumpet if they were in Heaven? 1 Corinthians 15:52. When is the last trumpet Revelations 11:15. So how will there be a Rapture to Heaven. Think people!
iam7who7iam7 1 year ago
@iam7who7iam7 I think you're a little confused. The rapture is the single greatest event that will take place since the ressurrection of Jesus Christ. The "Kingdom" on earth will take place during the Millennium that will take place after the 21 judgements of God. The children of the Almighty God that have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior are not subject to Gods wrath as spoken in Rev Chap 3. The saints ride back with Christ exactly 3.5 years after the abomination of desolation.
crossdaily1 1 year ago
@crossdaily1 This Rapture that you speak of is not the Rapture of the saints but the Rapture of the wicked. So as it were in the days of Noah and Lott so it will be in the day coming of the son of man. What happened in the days of Noah and Lott? Alot of wicked people were wiped out. The apostels are warning us not telling us we will be taken out of the Earth. Come out of these churches (BABYLON) and read the bible for yourselves. Stop listening to these money hungry preachers.

@Serge1965 ...Um, reality-based thinking??
stefatrop 1 year ago
@Serge1965 I implore you to be cautious with the words you choose, although I know it can be difficult at times, I've been there. We must remember to never lose our testimony. God is not negligent, and although there are most definitely -extra biblical- sources confirming Jesus did live as a man, there is a -reason- why you can read about who he really was and what was accomplished through the crucifixion -only- in the bible. Remember that
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 Name one extra-biblical source that confirms Jesus did live as a man. ONE.
Remember, and extra-biblical source that has "heard of Jesus", or mentions having heard of a person named Jesus as the founder of a religious group, or mentions Christianity, doesn't confirm his actual existence.
And extra-Biblical source that confirms his existence would be,
1) Jesus leaving behind an artifact that he himself signed, or wrote.
2) Someone outside the Bible who claims to have met him.
Good luck
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop Oh and you so know what you're talking about. Aside from several historians (jewish and roman included) who account about the spread of christianity and it's root influence, you'd conclude that they were simply deluded and everything that followed is a giant, convenient conspiracy. We have history itself attesting to the impact of christianity and it's development and you just throw out this meager argument of "one person claimed to have met him". Think much?
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 Cool down corn bread,
I actually believe Jesus WAS a real person.
Think.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. II
By the way, "history itself attests to the impact of" (Santa Claus in America) "and it's development" as well, but you don't see me telling you that because someone outside of a Christmas Carol heard of Santa Claus that that confirms his existence.
For once in your life, think.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop Oh I'm cool. Santa claus is universally acknowledged as nothing more than a myth. Do you see anyone trying to make arguments or defend the existence of santa claus? If you can see how that example applies here, you'd also see how you really haven't given me anything to "think about". Also, if you believe Jesus was a real person, your entire argument is out of place.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 You're so thick it's ridiculous.
DOESN'T.
...DOESN'T MEAN HE EXISTS.
YOU ARE AN IDIOT.
LEARN TO READ.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop It’s not that I am thick, it’s simply that you’re clinging to an analogy that is completely insignificant. Whether or not you hear of santa claus in or outside of a Christmas carol, he is universally acknowledged as a myth. Your analogy fails to bring any weight to the conversation whatsoever, as you can yell to your blue in the face, Jesus will never be universally acknowledged as a myth, so there is absolutely no comparison or no logic to your analogy.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 You are being thick.
It's not that complicated.
stefatrop 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@stefatrop I understand what you are trying to say, but once again I am telling you how the analogy is ultimately insignificant. "I'm completely familiar with the dead sea scrolls. Mentioning them does nothing to further your argument." What? Of COURSE it does when you want to try and tell me how our Bibles today are "exaggerated" and have somehow been distorted. Are you not even following your own words?
metero1337 1 year ago
@stefatrop “This city, which you claim exists, is like the Jesus of the Gospels.”
Wrong. The city represents the evidence left behind that “something” did happen, which would be what we can see through history. You cannot say the city does not exist without denying the evidence i.e. denying history. What you are trying to do is deny there ever was a nuclear strike (which is Jesus) despite the fact that there is evidence attesting to it
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 According to your reasoning, the fact that Islam exists today is proof that Muhammad really DID receive the Koran from Allah (in which, incidentally, Muhammad says Christians are mistaken.
Why? Look at history! Look at how widespread Islam is! Look at the incredible impact Islam has had on culture in the middle east! Look how many centuries it's been around!
Look at the nuclear strike that is Islam! Why do you deny it?
YOUR REASONING IS FLAWED.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop “YOUR REASONING IS FLAWED.”You say this because you’re making your own conclusions FOR me.The facts you all mentioned concerning Islam is obviously proof Mohammed did exist, as everything that followed was initiated by him. contd...
metero1337 1 year ago
@stefatrop YOUR argument is based on denying the existence of Jesus, and I am reiterating that very same argument applied to Christianity, the emergence of the church and spreading of christianity DID NOT COME FROM NOWHERE.There HAD to be an initiator whether you want to believe it or not.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 I never said it came from nowhere. Just for the record, this is about the fourth time I've repeated that I think Jesus WAS a historical figure. What is your problem?
My POINT, AGAIN, is that no one OUTSIDE the Gospels, can confirm Jesus' existence. They can acknowledge that a person named Jesus was SAID to exist, that Christians exist, that the Christian movement existed, and that he was SAID to have been crucified, but they can't CONFIRM his existence.
It's reeeeaaalllly simple.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 I didn't say it came from nowhere. I've said now FIVE times I think.
Imagine if someone wrote a book about the life of their best friend. In this book they write that their best friend basically did impossible things.
Later, other people picked up this book and believed all the miraculous things this friend did.
One would look to OTHER sources to see if this person REALLY did any of these things, according to OTHER people.
Problem is NO ONE ELSE can "confirm" this friend's existence.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. II
We can suppose this person existed because of the huge following that is created. Problem is, we have no outside sources to tell us anything about this friend. Anything. No documents, no encounters, no interactions with people who decided to write about him on their own, outside of this book that was written about him.
How can this be? He healed hundreds, performed miracles in front of hundreds, resurrected and appeared in front of hundreds,
yet NO ONE ELSE writes about him...
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. III
What does this tell us?
It tells us that the HISTORICAL Jesus, had a ministry, went around preaching forgiveness and a radical new doctrine, was crucified and just died.
But the "stories" that developed about Jesus were that he performed miracles and resurrected.
People didn't witness the miracles, or they would have THEMSELVES written about them. Instead, people started believing the "stories" of miracles that developed around Jesus' ACTUAL message, and a religion was born.
stefatrop 1 year ago
There is a point and purpose why the true identity of Jesus is found solely in the bible, and if you cannot swallow this then it is your issue not mine, don't come to me and start trying to justify yourself to me. You believe he was a historical person, but the Bible is very detailed in what his ministry entailed, what his claims are, and what his true identity is.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 There's a "point" why four anonymous gospels that borrowed heavily from each other for information are the "sole" places to learn about Jesus?
This is very precarious ground you're treading on..
What "point" might that be? Do tell. I'll be waiting
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop"I didn't say it was all a lie." This is exactly what you are saying, that what is found in the bible are a collection of embellished stories that aren't true. What the heck are you trying to come at? Legends that developped? His ministry and words are COMPLETELY tied into the mircales he did AND his resurrection, you cannot separate the two and claim one to be true and the other un true. You either believe it is all true or all fake.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 No, I didn't say it was all a lie. Again, I'm going to have to repeat myself.
Thinking RATIONALLY, given the Bible, we can determine that the "message" of Jesus is the result of a particular person, but that the "embellishments" (written as they were by people who didn't meet Jesus or witness the "miracles") were the result of time and legends developing.
It's pretty simple.
You didn't see the resurrection.
The Gospel writers didn't see the resurrection.
They were TOLD it occurred.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop “not the result of rational inquiry.”
Rational inquiry draws from human wisdom. If you actually knew about the Biblical God (creator) you’d also know how much He disdains human wisdom and disqualified it as a means to discover his truth. It’s all over the bible, Paul even talks about it (God using the foolish things of the world to confound the wise).
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 Wow, that's amazing. Look at all you've learned about wisdom from ONLY THE BIBLE. That's amazing. According to ONLY THE BIBLE human wisdom is disqualified because it CONTRADICTS THE BIBLE.
You really can't see it, can you?
Copernicus, CENTURIES ago, using "human wisdom" discovered the Sun DOESN'T revolve around the EARTH (a major justification for Christianity, that Man is the "center" of everything) but that it's the other way around.
But you disdain this "wisdom".
Brilliant.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop "But you disdain this "wisdom"."
Not my opinion, biblical truth. God disdained human wisdom as a means to KNOW HIM, you cannot find god using your own WISDOM AND RATIONALE, thats the WHOLE POINT and CONTEXT.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 No, God doesn't disdain human wisdom, someone WROTE God disdains human wisdom, and someone else told you that this sentence is the word of God. God didn't write the Bible, Jesus didn't write the Bible, PEOPLE wrote the Bible, and OTHER PEOPLE said it's God's word.
Someone, some person, wrote "God disdains human wisdom" and you decided that this sentence is therefore a statement true of God.
Why?
Because it comes from the Bible!
You have got to get your mind out of storage.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Buddy, I used to be a Born-Again Christian. Whatever your thoughts on the authenticity or my walk with God, it was a five year period where I was totally on fire for my faith.
You can't throw around "not my opinion, biblical truth" to someone who knows Christianity, and knows how inadequate that statement is. Even when I was a Christian, I'd have taken you aside and said, "not my opinion, biblical truth" doesn't cut it when talking about evidence FOR the Bible being credible.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop In the last days many shall depart from the faith. This is very dangerous my friend. There is no doubt that Jesus is coming and very soon, so why do you follow the world which cares nothing for you and deny your Creator and what He did at the cross for you and me and all of humanity who believes in Him? @stefatrop “What "point" might that be? Do tell. I'll be waiting”
If you refuse to acknowledge Jesus for what the Bible reveals him to be, there IS no point. The bible is meant to be the sole authority of the creator God, and Jesus plays a pivotal role in this context, you obviously know this, I needn’t explain. Contd..
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 Do you know how the Bible came to be? Church leaders chose certain books and not others. They PICKED some books and rejected others.
Yet you cling to the notion that "The Bible" is something "meant to be the sole authority of the creator God".
How can you regard a book that other people "compiled" and bound together as an act of God? You think it's infallible, but how? People put it together, like an anthology.
You're completely programmed, and you have no sense of rational inquiry
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop Going outside this authority once would give man excuse to somehow find God outside of the parameters he has defined, yet you are demanding that God should have done this nonetheless because it would somehow change your disposition and give you “reason” to believe
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 You're completely indoctrinated. You see, if we talk long enough about any Biblical issue, you do what most Christians do; You shift into a mode wherein the Bible is a magical book "meant" to be the way it is, and a book that is the way it is because God "made it that way".
It's a childish way of looking at the inconsistencies and flaws of ANY religion.
"What about the fact that the Gospels have no titles and are anonymous?"
"They were MEANT to be, by God."
It's childishness.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 There's a reason why the word "Islam" means "submission". It's so that only people who embrace to the teachings, literally submit to them COMPLETELY, are said to be "truly" Islamic. It's a tactic used in all of the monotheistic religions.
Somewhere, at some point, someone got you to ACCEPT AND NOT QUESTION that the Bible is "magic" and that it's "inspired". This is tactic of religion to permanently "hook" people, and on you, it worked.
You fell for the biggest trick of them all.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop "No, I didn't say it was all a lie." You can only accept something to be truth or lie, if you do not esteem it as a lie as you claim then the implication is that you hold it as true. There is a heavy contradiction on your part concerning this. "were the result of time and legends developing." Again, again, again, you throw out BASELESS statements. Once again the miracles and works of Jesus occurred in DIRECT relation with his ministry and wordsYou are making no sense, contd..
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 A baseless statement is "I believe a miracle occurred because a book says so." THAT'S a baseless statement.
I simply said the teachings are mostly his, but MIRACLES are likely just stories.
THAT'S common sense.
If you read the writings of Einstein in a book that also claimed he flew, you'd RATIONALLY conclude the writings were from a "specific" person but that the miracles were NOTHING BUT STORIES.
It's that simple. Believing in miracles is never rational. It just isn't.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop ..You either believe Jesus HIMSELF and everything that surrounds him is a giant, embellishment that is outright false or that it is all true, you fail to understand this.
“Church leaders chose certain books and not others.”
This doesn’t detract from the fact that without divine inspiration (God breathed), the Bible would not exist, period.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 "God breathed"? What are you smoking?
One could just as easily say without divine inspiration the Upanishads wouldn't exist, without divine inspiration the Koran wouldn't exist, without divine inspiration the Tibetan book of the Dead wouldn't exist.
You think writing something like "without divine inspiration" means it was divinely inspired?? Where do you learn such unfounded nonsense?
And writing "period" doesn't mean you've made a point.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop “How can you regard a book that other people "compiled" and bound together as an act of God”
An ex-christian and you cannot understand the simple concept of sovereignty? If you refuse to acknowledge God how can you even begin to evaluate what you believe to be an act of God or not? Do you not think something as valuable as God’s own word (synonymous with His being: John 1) would somehow fall prey to whatever shady “corruption or error” you are incessantly trying to beg?
metero1337 1 year ago
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop “It's childishness”
So it all boils down to you believing is childishness? According to you, God is not allowed to be God? You believe you have the right to dictate what God should have and shouldn’t have done? Just because there are other monotheistic religions claiming to be “the truth”, we write every one off as false? Counterfeits cannot exist?
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 You're the one talking about what God is and isn't, not me. I'm simply showing you why the Bible can't be rationally believed in.
You're so enmeshed in YOUR view of God that if I refute it, you think I must be personally rejecting YOUR notion of God, because YOUR notion of God is the one that exists. It's incredibly arrogant.
I haven't even begun to discuss "God" with you.
I'm simply pointing out the flaws in the Christian argument for IT'S view of God.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop What about how the fact that the bible is written over 1500 years by several authors and yet the revelation of the biblical God has ALWAYS remained intact and coherent? Is it all “somehow” a giant, engineered falsity?
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 Church leaders "picked" books that went together. They took 1500 years of writing, and threw out what didn't fit and kept what did, bound them together and called it "The New Testament".
You're amazed that the God of the Bible seems "intact and coherent"??
If I published an anthology of fiction that spanned 1500 years and 100 authors, and chose a theme, would you be BLOWN AWAY because that theme was found in the published book??
That would amaze you?
Think.

@stefatrop “You fell for the biggest trick of them all.”
Coming from someone who refuses to believe the existence of God, that will ultimately be your conclusion, though it is not “the” conclusion.
metero1337 1 year ago
@stefatrop You can either accept it, reject it, or ignore it. You try to throw in other variables such as "exaggerations" as if they add more weight to your argument when they do not. You are concluding at face value that everything found in the new testament is a LIE, so why are you wasting your time with me? Go your own way, unless you absolutely feel the need to justify yourself before me in order to feign some sort of satisfaction, But I will seriously not waste my time
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 I didn't say it was all a lie. How many times do I have to repeat myself? I'm saying that the message of Jesus is probably all his own words, but the miracles, including the resurrection, are probably just stories and legends that developed.
What YOU need to do is realize that your belief in the veracity of the Bible comes exclusively from a belief that it's INSPIRED by God, and not the result of rational inquiry. This belief allows you to "smooth over" the problems I've mentioned.

Know what happened when they compared it to other modern day bible translations?
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 I'm completely familiar with the dead sea scrolls. Mentioning them does nothing to further your argument.

@stefatrop “Anybody other than "believers that the city exists" who can actually describe this city or has been there?”
One, we are told plenty all about him within the context of the Bible, so much so that it goes a very long way to detail it for us. Secondly, how ridiculous this statement becomes due to how no one else would make claims nor spread the word about this man unless they ARE believers.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 You're making my point. only FOUR people, FOUR, tell us about Jesus; the authors of the four gospels.
Of all the thousands of people who met Jesus, heard him, were healed by him...FOUR people wrote down things about Jesus.
Four people who NEVER MET HIM.
NO ONE ELSE WROTE ABOUT HIM...
Just let that sink in for a minute...
Four people, who NEVER MET Jesus, wrote about him after DECADES, and you think this constitutes a reliable portrait of Jesus.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop “Four people who NEVER MET HIM.”
No way you were a christian when you make such a statement.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 None of the Gospels have the names of an author on them. The names "According to Matthew", "Mark", "Luke", "John", were designations later Church leaders attributed to the manuscripts simply because they reflected the "tone" of the various persons.
All of the Gospels are anonymous.
I can't believe you're a Christian and you don't know this.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop Yet even with all this, you still ask for “more” despite the fact that if it was provided you would still critique it nonetheless.
“And I'M skeptical??”
Yep, and for factors you believed legitimate which really are not. You flat out reject the Bible for what it is, period.
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 After being raised in a Christian household, and active in a Christian Youth Group in high school, I renewed my commitment to my faith and became a Born-Again Christian for five years, taught Sunday School, was on the leadership team for the Inner Varsity Christian Fellowship at my University, where I also led a Bible study. Leaving Christianity was one of the hardest things I've ever done.
Do not presume to tell me what MY view is of the Bible. You have no idea.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop the new testament is affirmed by locations and political figures that ARE confirmed “extra-biblically”. An analogy, you walk into a city that has been devastated. The land is charred and irradiated, the structures have been leveled, and you even observe an impact crater. All the evidence is there pointing to a nuclear weapon being the cause of the city’s demise, yet since you didn’t see it with your own eyes nor “heard it mentioned from anyone else”, you do not accept that conclusion
metero1337 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. I
You still don't understand.
Why is this important?
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. II
Since no extra-biblical accounts exist AT ALL, it's doubtful Jesus actually acted and behaved the way his followers claim.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. III
And I'M skeptical??
stefatrop 1 year ago
@metero1337 Pt. IV
NO ONE.

It is FALSE HOPE FOR WICKED PPL WHO SEEK A SIGN.
zobcity01 1 year ago
rapture is heretical.

Many False prophets shall arise decieving Many. Many!

@zobcity01 Well, i will explain to you on the way up, that is of course if you were born from above, i guess you have a hard time seeing that God says what He means and means what He says but i will pray that the Holy Spirit reveals this to you.
Serge1965 1 year ago
@Serge1965 "I will explain to you on the way up"? (What, it's like an elevator, with "chat-time" as you make your way up??)
I can't think of anything more unbearable than a fellow "Christian" lecture on the "right" interpretation of the Rapture as they're trying to concentrate on meeting the Lord!!
2) You're bickering about the details of a shared fantasy. It's been 2000 years guys, every other Christian who's ever lived and said it's COMING SOON has been dead wrong.
stefatrop 1 year ago
@stefatrop Its a way of saying: you will get it when we are in the clouds with the Lord, in the meantime, i will continue to read the Bible litterally because God says what He means and means what He says and when the Bible talks about a snatching or a taking away, i take this very seriously because my God can do all things and if you really need to go thru the Great Trib, gp ahead, i have read that i was not appointed to wrath, maybe you are? Tell me, what does born again mean to you?
Serge1965 1 year ago
@Serge1965 You actually don't mean, "God says what He means and means what he says",
What you REALLY mean is, "The people who wrote the Bible tell me God says what he means and tell me He means what he says". You have no direct information about God Himself at all. You have merely what OTHER PEOPLE have written.
What's more,
God can't do all things, the people who wrote the Bible SAY that God can do all things. You need to understand this distinction.
It's frustrating, but it's a fact.

Serge1965 1 year ago
@Serge1965 Pt. II
Allow me to showcase the absurdity of your thinking;
You literally believe the 2 Tim passage, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God" is TRUE because the Bible is INSPIRED by God.
And how do we know the Bible inspired by God?
Because it says in 2 Tim. 3:16-17 that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God."
Because the Bible is inspired by God, you can believe 2 Tim.
And why can you believe 2 Tim?
Because 2 Tim SAYS the Bible is inspired by God.
USE YOUR BRAIN!!

@Serge1965 Pt. III
It's literally as ridiculous as my writing the following;
Stefatrop 3:16-17, "Whatever Stefatrop posts is the undeniable Truth."
Therefore, what I'm posting now is the Truth.
How do I know this?
Because it says so in Stefatrop 3:16-17.
And since Stefatrop 3:16-17 says, "Whatever Stefatrop posts is the undeniable Truth", it must be that whatever I post is true.
And I post that Stefatrop 3:16-17 is the word of Truth.
You guys need to learn to think critically.

Moron.

Serge1965 1 year ago
@Serge1965 Can you stop for a moment and listed to how you sound? "All 66 books pointing to Jesus Christ"? What does that even mean? All "pointing" to Jesus? Seriously, what the hell does that mean?
And by the way, if I listened to every person who said that Jesus was coming "soon", it would stretch back 2000 years, right up to the point where Jesus himself said that he would return within the disciples' lifetime.
Not exactly shivering in my boots on the whole, "any minute now" Rapture talk.
