My husband doesn't like medication for depression, and I think he is not taking them. He has a condition known as 'severe major depression, recurrent, with extreme psychosis'. Would these remedies help him, or is his illness much too serious?
@pillowbugg Fish oil and B vitamins are harmless and very beneficial. 5-htp should not be taken with anti-depressant medications. It's to be taken only if a person is not on any anti-depressants.
@AnaPatrick56 naturally occurring sugar in fruit is fine. Too much refined sugar can disrupt blood sugar balance which can leave your edgy and anxious.
this lady is ABSOLUTLEY right ... get rid fo ALL sugar in your diet and watch your anxiety dissapear within days and it will stay away but obvoulsy this ,means strict choices .i.e noi alcohol , sweets cakes biscuits tinned soups , squash , and cordials etc etc its in everything you est so make sure you look at labels and eliminate it if you really want to rid anxiety , it definately works and WILL stay way if you stick to it..good luck and be strong..

@AnaPatrick56 hi ana , when i had deppression i couldnt spell as good as i used to, if you dont exercise you REALLY should start it will be unbelievable hw it rids you of it .. its a life saver and gets yoou your sanity back and your sefl esteem .. headphones full of your favourite upbaet tunes sweating and getting out the house are all key benefits to exercise.. good luck be strong and dont worry ..x

Exercise is free, and where theres no profit to be made there are no advertisements., you have to educate yourself and realise the solution to everything is where we ourselves came from: Nature.

The typical American diet is too high in omega-6 and outweighs omega-3 about 20 to 1!! I aim for 10,000mg omega-3 per day. Your recommendation of reducing overall fat intake is a mistake. The brain is the house that FAT built and is approximately 60 - 70 percent fat. I personally know a neurologist and two naturopathic doctors. I also attend lectures given by NDs.

@Arnebananlolo They are soda alternatives that you can find at Whole Foods, Lassen's and other health food stores. Steaz zero calorie sparkling drink is made with Stevia, and so is Zevia. Google them. Find a location near you that carries them. They are fantastic!

My diet consists of Celery, oats,peanuts,seeds,water,limes,blueberries,tuna,dark chocolate,bananas,wheat toast,whole grain brown rice,eggs,milk.I run 5-7 miles everyday/ That's what I call the happy diet. I notice a huge difference in mood when I stray from my daily rountine of diet and exercise. I'm just not the same person. So manipulation of your mood can be achieved through foods and natural ways. Not just drugs. Which in the long run can damage brain cells

Yes! I take fish oild (2) every day, I also make exercise at least 20-30 min 3-4 x week.
About the sugar, what about the fructuose that is in the fruit, I eat a lot of fruit (banans 2-3) apples 1-2.
How the sugar produce anxiety?
