Excellent clips, DVD camcorders suck. The guy in the shop i went into tried to get me to buy one, Telling me its the best thing for filming and storage medium and was cheap. I purchased the Canon FS100 HCSD/SD Camcorder, the included editing side of the software is not good but the focus/lens is very clear.
You did well mate. Watching all of your vids, you certainly did well to make the best out of the weather, particularly on the saturday. My vids will be up soon, I've just been having problems with the dvd formats that I recorded my stuff onto, hopefully that should be sorted in the next few days. Nice speaking to you at Crowcombe and hopefully I'll see you again for 6024 and 71000 this weekend. Five stars definatly mate, for all the vids!
I've still got my Panasonic GS75. But because the focus given up the ghost, I was using my local youth clubs camcorder at the time I was there, which happens to be a DVD type (Don't really like it though). Having said that, I should have my new camcorder (Panasonic SDR-H280) by wednesday.
Yeah I'm having the same problems with the one I used at the weekend. Thankfully I have a mate who's also a computer whizz, so he's showing my how to do it, but even he thinks its complicated!
Thats why Iv followed in Daves footsteps into what cameras he uses mainly minitape camcorders, maybe if you ask another guy called Glen (alias jiffyman he might give you camera advice)
Hi Phil, Stay away from DVD Camcoders if you want to do editting. They are ok for just filming and playing back on a tv. Check out the Canon FS100. This is the camcorder I purchased to replace my JVC which got busted at the SDR diesel gala this year. I have a test clip on my site. When you upload the footage from the camcorder/memory card it is converted to .MPG (MPEG 2)so is very easy to edit.
Excellent video! I wish I could of gone as it looked a excellent event. The only reason they problably had steam and Diesel and the reason they couldn't do a event in the summer is that the public want steam more than deisel and some would be dissapointed.
Opening shot of D6566 was a good one, and the following shot of the Rats on the Goods - well done Ryan! Oooo, D6737 thrash! Pitty about D832. I liked the sound of the Teddies as they arrived at Crowcombe and also of the 37 powering out of Williton. Ending to the film was very nice indeed!
The Warship breaking down made me laugh, 'cause they were designed and made so early to replace King and Castle locos that they just kept failing and what you see here is an example of BR's early ambitions that failed.
Safety is a bit lax here. All those poeple standing next to the track are a saftely hazard.

The weather becamer the important factor of the day, otherwise without the sun you wouldn't of seen the brighter look of the diesels.

Would be nice if they held a Steam/Diesel Event mind in the Summer

The mixed traffic weekend had a bit of steam, although it was more diesel than steam.

Yeah I knew 4160 & 5553 ran, but I was just saying I wish they had a 50/50 event
