this is badly mixed! if your listening on stereo headphones, the harmonies are louder than the lead vocal. and no, it doesnt mean they made it their own, its just poorly mixed, and the guitar is also too low in the mix.
Thumps up for actually listening to this soon at 3 am - only to feel better :) Good new year and i hope we'll see changes around the world in 2012. For the better i hope.
@AntNo10003640 I think you may have missed the point of the song. It's not saying "The times are getting better." Just that they are changing, for better or worse, and that we can't know for sure what the future will bring, as anything could happen. "The slow one now may later be fast, and the President now will later be past." It also criticizes does who criticize change, as change is inevitable. "Your old road is rapidly aging, please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand."
@Senkiatzu I'm always amused whenever pop stars start thinking they can switch up old sayings, like making it "lend your hand" instead of the proper "lend a hand." It's pointless, confusing and never works. But I still love ya, Bob!
@AntNo10003640 They're always changing, just not always in ways we would hope for them to. The more systems of control there are the greater the pressure becomes to break them. Also the greater the number of people the less value we all tend to place on people, because of limited resources and there being few meaningful things one can do with one's life. Change isn't always easy to see until it's in full force.
@Keviamaya I know why I do. Simon and Garfunkel have better sounding voices. Dylan wrote some great stuff but his singing was not always his strong point. Although some of his songs would not mean as much if anyone other than he, had sung them.
It brings a tear to my eye not only these lyrics, but the fact that people like all you guys are still interested in Bob Dylan And S&G. These artists are not appreciated enough, for they have set in stone what it means to have artistic talent and to put enough effort in so that they become as famous as they are now. When it comes to writing music, working hard, these guys are my gods.
@12bulkhead Haha im 18 and <3 the classics, music back then was about passion for the sound and the enjoyment you can get from it, nowadays its only about getting a number 1 single and lots of money, not to mention flaunting yourself on stage *cough Lady Gaga cough* (Sorry but i hate her in every way possible). Long live Dylan, Hendrix, Zappa, Marley, Cash, Beatles, Stones, M.Gaye, C.Mayfield, Rat Pack etc, the TRUE greats of musical poetry and instrumental mastery :D The music WILL live on.
Bob Dylan is hella smart, the man found out and knew about the new world order; i only know because i connected his words to his knowledge of Isis, in his song of that name, Isis.
"Senators and congressmen please heed the call don't stand in the doorway don't block up the hall for he who that gets hurt will be he who has stalled the battle outside ragin'"
@LittleBlackSparrow I never said that Dylan's version is bad. I love his version more than any of the others. It's just that Simon & Gafunkel's version feels differeent than any of the others in a good way.
I'm a Bob Dylan fan and a Simon & Garfunkel fan and I love both versions.I love Dylan's version becuse it's the origional version. I love S&G's version because Art's harmony goes really well with Paul's melody which makes it unique.
i love simon and art and i think this is a very good rendition, unique they made it their own but ..........
bob dylan is just so ..undescribeable i love him (aswell art and simons originals )but his voice and his muic are the soundtrack to my childhood something i cant change and would never want to
@VanGoghsEar1890 dude. i love that comment :D. so true I hope. While i listen to this song I imagine people standing on a planetary expansion watching over Earth and the human empire will be listening to this and smiling and saying how this was listened to on Earth a thousand years ago... Oh man
It's a shame, whenever I listen to this on my headphones Garfunkel's harmony is much more prominant and really adds to it but through normal speakers it never seems to have the same impact. I think if the mix was altered slightly then the value of this cover would be appreciated.
sung too fast and without any passion or emotion. was it time for lunch break and so they had to get the song done and out of the way? normally I love S&G harmonies.
this version is not so good, it's not much different than the original except they hit the notes perfectly. they don't always have to be such choir boy singers

Simon & Garfunkel give the song a special feel that Bob Dylan or any other artist that recorded the song never gave. And I like it.
