  • i miss those days so much i was only 4 back than Dawm it

  • what happend to irish rail over the years.

this was the real irish rail.

    ammonia fraight gone 2002

    mark 3s drogheda & dundalk gone 2003

    mark 2s rosslare gone 2004

cravings arklow and dundalk gone 2004

    mark 2s sligo gone 2007

irish rail is gone crap bring back the mark 3s

  • irish rail is moving into the future.... thats all

  • @IrishRail123

The future is pretty dull then in that case.

  • Lovely video, thanks for sharing!

  • well there will be a hourly service to belfast in 2010 and they will use 3 sets of mark 3s and loco 201s aswell. all of the mark 3s will be sent up to dundalk next year when the railcars are in operation on every route.

  • irish rail has gone to hell.20yr old coaches being scrappe/sold on,buying faulty new stock, getting rid of all freight...why will there be a ressision..transport 21 is why buying new rail stock when all we have is still perfect

  • its not, the engines are ancient besides the 201 class, freight was loosing money hand over fist, the MARK I & IIs were awful to be on and the IIIs are not great either. I would not have gone for railcars though, i would have stuck with locos and more of the Mark IVs

  • come on train i am waiting

  • the new intercity to sligo are ok not very confortable though similer to the mark 4s and they will be running to rosslare in the summer so it will all be railcars everywhere except belfast there keeping that service and locos.

  • Ah memories

    thank you

    steve.

  • God it's amazing the changes. All the old diesels are out of service now from connolly, and every other train's been repainted.

Wierd to see a newer loco hauling freight. Now they use the older ones to haul it, and the new ones operate out of Heuston. Same with the newer carriages. I never remember seeing a new carriage service out of connolly until this year.

  • i think the only loco service out of connoly will be the belfast service, they now have the new dmus coming into service this year, its going like england.

  • Not quite, it's not yet privatised, thankfully. Though they sure gave the old Mk2 carriages a woeful sendoff. The comm system began malfunctioning, producing static on the only Mk2 train they ran, so that for several months, passengers were subjected to a dreadful din that made one almost wistful for the 29000 class commuter DMUs that they're running to Sligo now.

  • how connolly has changed. i miss the orange trains. too many green trains ie dart commuter. u can barely tell the difference

  • memories!

  • Wow almost 10years, The 201's are the best ever and those Mark III carriages. Connolly sure has changes I miss the main entrance the way you had to stand on the electic stairs and go up. Connolly has seriously changed. Those orange and black ARROW trains well they have been repainted PITTY!!!!

  • the mark 3s to drogheda were the best

  • dead right mate!now its 29's sadly!!!

  • the mark 3s to drogheda were the best its a pitty its all changed and there usin these stupid railcars now. the 201s are the best ever aswell

  • ye you should do that because the markIIII's are great and you do even feel the 209 miles the hueston!

  • just booked a flight to cork for £10 in august, and a return from dublin same price the next day.cant wait!!

  • ye but ya will see very little freight buddie!!!

  • ye ur rite der and they are never late!did you ever go on any rpsi tours!!!

  • no ive never had the chance,i try to do a different route every time i go.i am going to try and fly into cork and get the train to dublin next time i go.

  • ye i no irish rail have little or no freight only freight left is tara mines, bulk cement, norfolk liners and the odd timber train!well i always loved the sugar beet but those days have vanished!

  • my daughter lives just outside dublin and i always have a day out on the trains when i go to visit her,its good railway to travel on and the irish are so freindly.

  • i love irish rail

    its just so nice ;D

  • good to see a bit of ammonia again!

  • i think that is the only freight train i videod, and i havent seen one in the dublin area since, but i do tend to go to heuston rather than connoly.i did see 2 freight trains in waterford yard but they were parked up,when iwas there earlier this year
