The doppelganger is the Lara double you can see shooting Alister in the cutscene near the end of this video. Natla created her. It's the second doppleganger in the series. TR1/TRA had another one, again created by Natla, but skinless.

'Doppelgänger' is a german word used to refer to a double or a look-alike. But traditionally it refers to one seeing himself from a 3rd-person perspective, like a ghost. It's supposed to be a omen of death or sickness.

Nope. You can roam around for as long as you wish.

There should be a time limit to complete the level before the roof comes down or something but...
