Hess flew to safety and security, knowing that if he failed or his 'peace plan' was rejected, he would at least have an insanity excuse. He knew he would not be allowed to simply return to Germany. Hess flew to safety and security, knowing that if he failed or his 'peace plan' was rejected, he would at least have an insanity excuse. He knew he would not be allowed to simply return to Germany.
