I saw the American version, and I loved it, however this trailer makes me want to see the Swedish version, too! But with English subtitles, of course.

I've only seen the American version, which I think is very very good. But I think, aesthetically at least, Noomi's Lisbeth looks more human to me. I don't think Lisbeth would spend as much time on her appearance as the Rooney Lisbeth does, which is more of a fashion statement. It's just unnatural for the character, I think. I don't think Lisbeth needed to be to so decorated for her personality to show. This is not a comment on the actresses' portrayal of the character, just the costume design.

MILK TOAST is in the ENGLISH Urban Dictionary; it means:

spineless, lacking backbone. not standing up for oneself

2. spineless, having no backbone.

3. some one of weak constitution, allergic or sickly and weak. Milk toast was often given to sickly people as it was considered easy on the digestive tract and full of calories. Its used more today to mean some one simpering, whiny or without back bone.

OMG, just finished watching the Swedish version with English subtitles, the ending was totally unexpected.

What I don't understand is why they changed the title. TGWTDT is a much stronger, more unique collection of words--Men Who Hate Women makes the story sound like it is about men, and like the story is more about hatred than anything else. But the story is so much more than that, and despite Blomkvist being the leading character, Lisbeth is the DRIVING character, the one the whole story is about. Why dull down the meaning of the book at all? MWHW is far too general and droll. Overplayed.

@wyvernhall The title wasn't changed. The book was originally published in Sweden as Men Who Hate Women in 2005, and then in English as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2008. Naturally, the Swedish movie adaptation has the same name as the book in Sweden. There was no title change - just different names for different territories.

I'm skeptical about the new Hollywood version of the movie. I really don't get the need to remake it. I really loved the originals of the whole trilogy and I already feel like the actress for the new version doesn't do it for me. I really like Noomi Rapace. Just my opinion though.

@xXMartinzXx I read about shooting at the main square in Uppsala. the secrecy is tight which a standard with such high profile movie set. Is there anything that your local newspapers report about it? Did you see anything of the commotion?

@kajro57 They recorded two scenes in Uppsala. One of them with craig and the other one without. They had shut down big parts of the main squere so u couldnt see alot. I was there and I saw Craig from about 75 paces. They rebuilt parts of the street so it would looks like it was in the swedish 60s.

I agree, good multi-dimensional detective stories but its a riddle why they reached such hype abroad especially if lots of nuances, swed headline stories, politscandals (to which there are many allusions) r incomprehensible to a foreign reader

There must be plenty of books of similar quality in every country
