I dd both somewhat actively, although the first likely due to my obsession with alts and not liking the way certain classes look as males (the casters in this particular case). Male writers are allowed to write through the eyes of a female. I do it, King does it, Jordan does it, etc.

To be fair, I've a much more difficult time coming up with good stories for my female characters.
