A Kiss concert is really something special. They know how to entertain. And how about this drum solo? Peter Criss was one of the best back in his day. I'm sure many people took up the instrument because of him. He has his critics but every really good artist does. You can't please everyone no matter how good you are. Had to laugh at Paul's "this isn't Hartford, Connecticut" as I'm from the nutmeg state....Kiss will always be my favorite band

I agree that Peter is very well know and even aknowledged his influence. He had a big impact on me when I was young.But, my comment wasn't questioning his popularity. It was a comment on his talent (or awesomeness as others point out) as compared to drummers both past and present. Of all of the drummers I listed, I would say only Mike Portnoy would be considered a monster Technical drummer with Jo Jo Myer and Benny Greb skirting that description. The rest...

Awesome? Really? C'mon! I love the early KISS just as much as anyone. Peter fit for KISS and was influential but wasn't a Great Drummer. Here's a random list of great drummers.
