  • When I was statioed in Hawaii in the early 1980s there was an old Hawaiian who used to play slack key on a steel guitar in the park at Ft. DeRussy. He produced some of the most amazing sounds on a guitar that I have ever heard. The sound just set the mood of the day.

  • Eh every know dat unless u one pure Hawaiian or one addah polynesion blood u one Haole right

  • and just fyi its only respectful to the hawaiian people, especially the songwriter, if you keep the melody the same

  • its nice and fast and it has a good tempo that makes you wanna dance but the one thing its missing that no one can match exept the true masters like Uncle Ray Kane and Uncle Ledward Ka'apana and Pops Gabby Pahinui and those who came before them is that feeling you get when you play and hear hawaiian music. that chill that runs up your spine and makes you just shut up and listen while you still can. i honestly think that its a hawaiian thing and it takesa true hawaiian to match that level mastery

  • The real slack key Masters are hawaiians who grew with the music in their family, and that;s all I have to say about that!

  • damn haoles think they can sing hawaiian

  • Hmmm Barry Flanagan? The largest selling artist in the Islands...uh hey Douche Bag he is white.

  • people like to sing meles because the songs are good. it is a sign of respect. the richness of the songwriting, melodies, and playing styles of hawaii is something to be shared and enjoyed.

my 4 year old has no clue what the words mean, but she loves 'ulili e.

or would you rather that the rest of the world thought hapa-haole songs were really hawaiian? :)

  • what's this song?

  • Mauna Loa is the name of the song, Peter Moon has a pretty mean version on one of their Albums.

  • Cool version; has a rock edge and high energy.
