good advice man, I think a lot of people wouldn't think twice about being an attacker and pride themselves on showing themselves off, believing their distilling fear into an attackers mind instead of helping them
I think the advice here is probably better in daily life than SHTF. In SHTF, someone would always be home and armed while others scavenge for supplies. In daily life I don't advertise I have guns, they always leave in an inconspicous bag when I go to the range. I advertise my security system and dogs, my fence gates are locked and the lights are on outside all night. My doors/windows are all visible from the street or neighbors windows in all cases. There are also easier targets around me.
I just wanted to pick at you today.....What does a cop do when he drives his patrol car home? Would you support him? Would you fly Old Glory Along side a friend who supports the NRA by putting an NRA sticker on your house too? Bottom line is fight the good fight brother; defend it with a fire to burn the devil himself. - Amen P.S. Soldiers and rich people drive home too and being poor in this world is a reality.
i dont agree with that because because i have dogs and guns , all but a few is in a safe . the point about not put anything on your car or house because i thank if people thank you have something they will thank twice about coming in , and on the point of them waiting for you too come home and make you open the safe both me and my grandfather both carry , mine is a 9mm and his is a 357 mag so i thank that we are good lol but if the shtf im going to have bars and good locks
I like gun related slogans & signs as much as anybody, but I agree it is not a good idea to advertise your business. Bad guys are smart, they will stake out your house and break in when you're not home and take all your shit.
What good is an alarm system in a SHTF situation? If it runs on grid and the grid goes down it will be useless. If it does work then who exactly is going to come to your rescue? The overwhelmed police force? I don't think so!
The nail that sticks out may get hammered but the best defense is an even better offense! Thieves choose the path of least resistance. If they are not desperate they will pick another target. If they have nothing to lose then you will have to kill to protect yourself.
what is your opinion of depositing hidden supply caches ?
I live in a rural environment and already have caches of food and ammo hidden in my local area... just interested in your thoughts about the practice...
Grey Man is right . Fixed fortresses are monuments to man's stupidity You CANNOT defend yourself once they have an incentive to invade , with a fully combustible structure { wood , tar , carpet , AMMO } . BEEEEEE SMART ! BLEND IN . DUMB DEE DUMB DUMB DUMB ...............
Never, ever, ever, ever place a "I have free guns, come and get them" sticker on anything you own. You dont carry your money in your hand everywhere you go do you? Good tip man, I am so surprised at how many people think it's wise to broadcast to everybody that they have guns. You are being kind in stating that the criminals will wait until you are not home, most will just wait until you are either opening or closing your door and simply put a shank in you, then take what they want inside!
in an SHTF situations, you're most likely won't have electricity, phone or cable which if i'm not mistaking, most alarm systems require in order to be reliable.. and I think that in a real SHTF situations, cops will be way to busy for alarm calls, right? so would a sticker in that case make any real difference?
As far as the packing, you're right, the criminals don't need to know what you have. them knowing what you have only tells them how to overcome your weaknesses in an easier way.
I almost made the same video, because I just got my stickers too, and had the same thoughts. I have to agree, I think it paints a target on you. I had a friend in high school who always displayed the sticker of his car stereo maker. Thieves read it as "break in, I have an expensive stereo".
@Survive2Day Seems like a good idea...but what do you feel about advertising an alarm system for your house? The blinking light in my car seems to keep would-be thievs out of my car, what are your feelings about that towards a home? Would you advertise? Or would you continue to stay the "gray man"? Please advise! Thank you and Awesome videos! Love your work!
@LetsgetphysicalAg I think that is a different story. Making your house a harder target, like with an alarm system, is a great idea. You're not telling anyone what you have inside, just that it will be more challenging for them to get it. All things being equal, they will choose another house.
@LetsgetphysicalAg: I have known people who put the alarm signs in their yard w/o the alarm. Enough to make criminals move on as they don't want to risk the attention (noise).
I'm with you, I stay PRIVATE, even when I go to the range, I load my car in the garage with the door closed. Then I open the garage and go about my business. Don't like to advertise to anyone.
Well, if you are cooking in a post-collapse situation, you will need to conserve fuel. Bring your food to a boil and then immediately cover it and put the pot it a laundry basket with cotton / wool sleeping bags and blankets under / around and on top. This "hot box" will keep the heat in and, if the recipe called for 10 minutes of simmering, you can just leave it in there for 20 minutes and save 10 minutes of fuel. This cuts down on the smells emitted also!
I live in a suburban subdivision and have many neighbors when would be the best time to cook food outdoors or indoors be in order to stay under th e radar? I was thinking really early in the morning like 4 or 5 am so the smells won't alert anyone.
Being a cop is VERY safe. Consider that there are 800-900 thousand oath-taking sworn officers and in 2010 161 died on the job - a 37% increase from the previous year. Of the 161, a third were killed for not wearing a seatbelt, another third were killed by other accidents. The job of being a cop did not even make the top ten most dangerous jobs in the NYT last year. Being a roofer is far more dangerous.
This is along the same lines as negative political stickers on your car. I'd rather not have it damaged or get broken into because of my political stance.
When SHTF people WILL set 'man' traps.they want to break in, they get a nasty suprize when a toe popper takes off the end of their foot, or worse.. if you build a live trap such as a drop floor, you just got yourself a slave that better do what he's told or else...no protection by the law,,no one to save him... breaking into a house would be a bad idea post SHTF...in a world that is WROL people own other people...cruelty and violence rule..being killed is seen as a mercy. militia membership=life
I have an old PC that reacts to a motion detector and plays a wave file of the sound of a twelve gauge jacking a round into the breach. After several tests it sounds like the real deal. Bad idea?
I see where you're coming, but in general it only applies if you don't carry daily. If the gun is only in the master bedroom when it's not on your hip then this premise becomes meaningless and instead the stickers once again become a deterrent (burglers don't want to risk getting shot if you just happen to come home while they are there).
@eyewarnedyou The problem with that philosophy is that it assumes that you'll be there when these "idiots" break in. You can't be home 24/7, and it isn't difficult to get a good feel for someone's work hours through a few days of stakeout. Even with an alarm system installed, it would take only moments for an intruder to break in, get what he's looking for, and disappear, long before the police can arrive.
i 100% agree but you're not being real grey, all out on you tube and this goes to all those other people on you tube showing thier faces and gun collections and food storages. not real smart... if your gonna do a video hide your face!
Kinda good thinking except I do put nra stickers on my windows because that good not happen. I have a very good gun safe that's bolted from the inside. Also if they stick around in my house I'll deal with it when I get home since I'm armed 24/7 with a ccw permit. "HAVE ME OPEN THE SAFE" More like have a couple bullet holes in them!
@eyewarnedyou: EXACTLY! It would be like having an alarm, and NOT displaying a warning sticker. The idea is to make the crook target somewhere else. This idiot would argue that alarms only invite crooks because it "advertises" that you have nice things.
If you want a burglar to overlook your house, then make your house the hardest to hit. NRA stickers, alarm, and ESPECIALLY cameras (real or fake) do more to deter a crook, than "making yourself grey". What a load of B.S! You want the crook to look for another house during peaceful times.
My house was never burglarized the many years I lived in a big city, and almost all of my neighbors were hit. Guess what all their houses lacked?
I don't put any gun or NRA stickers on my vehicle for another reason: I don't want to be pulled over and then have to play 20 questions with some overzealous cop. Some people enjoy arguing Constitutional rights with the police, but I'd rather avoid that hassle altogether.
if any one found my guns. they would all be locked away and my dog would eat there back side first. I love my dog and the NRA and my windows in my home say as much.
not only do I not put gun stuff on my car or signs on my house I do not wear hats or shirts or belt buckles with gun logos on them. My first line of personal defense is they do not know I am armed.
