Ah Richie Furay. He made this sad and beautiful song sound almost happy, like he was unburdening himself. What a voice, what a moment! Can't save myself from crying a little.
@echo962 Fortunately, all of them have been performing at least some of these songs in their various bands; Richie with Poco and his own band in recent years; Stephen and Neil with CSNY and their own bands, as well. The summer '11 tour tickets are going for $150 and up on the floor, so get 'em quick.
After 43 years of listening to their vinyl, I wondered how they could have ever sounded better. The answer came at Shoreline. They were incredibly tight & bright! We in the packed audience didn't care that we were being rained on; we were in the presence of greatness!
NOW THAT I THINK OF IT , I THINK NEIL IS PLAYING TONIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO , A CHARITY EVENT F0R A CHILDRENS HOSPITAL , I CANT AFFORD THE 5000 BUCK TICKETS !!
CHRIST , I'VE SEEN NEIL AT MY FAVORITE BURRITO PALACE --- HIS BIG BLACK 50'S BUICK PARKED OUTSIDE --- JUST A REGULAR JOE ENJOYING A COMBINATION PLATTER !!
THATS ME CHEERING , I CAN HEAR ME , CHEERING WHEN RICHIE STARTED TO SING , IT WAS TOO MUCH TO TAKE , LIKE COMING ON TO SOME BLUE CHEER DOUBLE DOME ACID , I'M STILL HALLUCINATING , CAN YOU FEEL IT NOW ???
with their schedules and diversities Time fades away. Thank God they had a chance to get it together...please let us not forget Dewey and Bruce...the drivin' force. To sing the blues...you got to pay the dues.....................................and carry on. Credos to a great chardonney..my bad.

Thank you ZUrlocker...I am just so loving this. What a night it must have been! I notice Neil's sportin' the Guild..another change, or just runnin' with Le Noise vibe?
Thank you ZUrlocker...I am just so loving this. What a night it must have been! I notice Neil's sportin' the Guild..I know it's Daniel's influence..but nontheless he could make a broomstick ring.
I love it when people who have never met someone feel empowered to comment on their validity based on some half assed rumor, preconceived notion, or just plain venal stupidity. If you enjoy the music, listen, and please just shut the fuck up.
ECHO IS FULL OF BAT-SHIT --- RICHIE IS A BRAINWASHED JESUS-FREAK WITH A BRAIN CONSISTING OF LIME-JELLO -- STEPHEN IS A SAINT COMPARED TO REVERAND FURAY !!!
Charlotia you need to lighten up ! I'm a huge Neil young fan. In my opinion he's one of the most pivotal figures in rock history, and this is one of my favorite Neil Young compositions. As for Stephen Stills, he's a legendary jerk! It's taken over 40 years for Ritchie Furay to agree to get on a stage with him again. That should tell you something! But with as much animosity as exists between these individuals. when they make music together it's magic!!
fine song, very nihilistic. great concert. thanks to everyone involved including mother nature for keeping us alert to puttin on and taking off our panchos and raincoats 40x. the people were wonderful and the music was loud, clear, heartfelt, and colorful.
Neil did a version of this as an encore at the Toronto CNE concert bowl on the This Note's For You Tour with the Bluenotes - their horn section recreated the arrangement heard on the original Springfield track. Seventh heaven. And this version is right up there as well.
I am so glad these guys brought back a little piece of yesterday back to life this past weekend.I saw Richie summer '09 in NH,and he was AWESOME. BEST SONG THIS GROUP EVER DID,'CEPTING,R&R WOMAN.
Oh God, This was SUCH a Ridiculously good show. Seriously historic. We were all Captivated. They were sooo good and obviously were loving playing these songs..
These were both good..very good relative to many videos that have been posted. I submitted them to No Depression...they've both been approved and should be featured sometime later today....tr
I shot these videos direct from the projection screen seated on the lawn using a Canon G9. Apologies that the sound is not perfect, but still better than I could have hoped. Unfortunately, I just got the 2 Buffalo Springfield songs. I have posted links to other good videos my site guitarvibe com
Great to see 3/5s of the Buffs (was Palmer off camera ala Hollywood Palace?). Glad to hear that they remember this terrific song which should have been a hit.
@harvey1954 Bruce Palmer and Dewey Martin have unfortunately passed away. Really would have been great to see them all back together again but that doesn't take away from this reunion which many of us had thought was never going to happen.

I love the interplay, respect and poking that goes on between musicians.
Especially this bunch.
Could this have been how they really wanted to do this song back then ?
Flat out each guiding it just when the other one runs out or gets lost.
Pushing the trust it takes to stop driving for a minute, be driven and enjoy the ride.
journey46 10 months ago
@journey46 - Nice sentiment but frankly it's all Richie here...the linchpin of the Springfield sound. Vastly superior to all that CSNY nonsense.

@MrDavearama What a stupid comment.

@Inspector711 Wow ... you're right. What an incredibly idiotic thing to say. Furay, we love, but denounce CSNY? The epitome of stupid ...
vampyros1 8 months ago 3
@Inspector711 -Fuck off. CSN sound always pretty much sucked, Not the same as Springfield
or Poco for that matter.

@MrDavearama Yes because Poco really had the success of CSN&Y or CSN, you Muppet.
