Fun fact: Hideo Kojima originally requested Solid Snake to be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee, but the game was too far in development for him to be included. Along with Lucas, who was going to be in Melee instead of Ness, but was not in consideration of delays, development time allowed for his inclusion in Brawl.
Putting Third Party characters into Brawl was such a sweet idea, allowing Sonic and even Snake into the awesome series. I hope there are more smashes in the future, but I am not holding my breath, sadly.

On conference day two, my friends and I who had press badges were invited to the event. We all assumed it was over after Wario farts. People began to walk out and then my friend Phil, yelled "Oh no" which you can hear at around 1:45. As Snake said "Showtime", tears were literally weeping out of the eyes of at least half of the 6 dozen or so of us in the tiny theatre for the debut.
I was actually expectign a bigger reaction because I just watched the Twilight Princess reaction and that was HUGE. Of course that was LOZ so it is a bit different.
Because this was only a presser, and also a secret event, where only a few journalist were invited to see. The Twilight Princess reveal was in front of the whole E3(the fans included) so it got a bigger reaction.
but, to tell you the truth, I screamed, cried, jumped, cheered and even kissed my dog when Iwata said "we'll be working on Super Smash Bros. for both Wii U and 3DS" :D
Wow. I forgot that Metaknight was a HAL original. (Facepalm). But even though he's not as good as some of the others, and his Final's a bit shabby, you gotta admit, he is one if not the slickest character in the bunch: Cool theme song, cool ship, and he can go toe to toe with the Tazmanian devil. And He can fly.

That means real fans of Metroid do not want Samus to attend the Brawl without her Power Suit.
Samus has two faces: a cool bounty hunter and a beautiful blond woman.
Without suit, Samus cannot defeat even a pirate. Power Suit makes Samus a storong fighter.
Additionaly, before Zero Mission, Samus who took her Power Suit was a secret existence we could see only when we beated the games.
It is not allowed that Samus fights without her Power Suit.
