Awesome video, but I think it's the wrong part # on the pinion gears. Should it not be #TRX 3949 in 32pitch 19T pinion gear ? The #TRX 2419 is in 48pitch. The SUMMIT'S original pitch on the spur is 32pitch.
i didnt think so,,i kinda figured they were full o shit ,,thanks bro...im doin it and will update a video on it when do..working on a rear boom for my summit now so will have a video up tomorrow or next day.
I've heard that running a brushless motor backwards constantly actually causes it to over heat and thermal shutdown,,is that a problem you or jetlag or anyone else u know of had with this setup?...I'm really thinking about doing it to mine..
@mrharleyman09 Neither of us have had any problem whatsoever. I really disagree with what you have heard. The motor is designed to go either way, it does not matter what direction, the motor does not know the difference.
i was wondering if you have a problem with it cogging like unsensored brushless motors do, because i do alot of low speed crawling and i was just curious
@crackpot261 Really the only reason why I put the Twin VXL setup in there is because it is waterproof. I think the Mamba is a bit faster but the Summit was born to get wet.
How does it do for slow rock crawling? Does it cog or surge at low speeds?
I think u already touched on this, but do u think a single vxl 3500 system could power a summit? If u were to try what gearing would u use to prevent overheating? What battery setup would u use for a single setup?
Thanks in advance for any questions u can answer!
@20214415 It does cog but it really isn't the best rock crawler anyway. I would be a little afraid of just using one vxl. I think that the gearing change would make it a little better as far as running temp but the Summit is an awfully big truck for such a little motor. I have a single vxl in my E-Maxx and it gets pretty warm.
It is the same as just doing one. I have done it so many times that I just do it by feel. But I would just put a piece of paper between the spur and pinion like usual. Just search youtube for how to set rc gear mesh.
I waterproofed the mamba esc but it still got ruined. I went with the 2 vxl setup since it is waterproof from the factory. I wish Castle made a waterproof Mamba system. i would rather have that.
@mempey I've done a single vxl summit. Didn't overheat... but it was 20 degrees out. You can see it in my videos. I don't know how long the motors will last that way. This year I'm going to double up on it. Thanks for showing us how!
I usually take the battery out and hit it with a garden hose. If I am going to do a real good cleaning, I spend an afternoon taking apart everything that has moving parts and cleaning them out real good. I try to pay special attention to the bearings. UltimateRCNetwork has a great tutorial on how to clean bearings. I always hit the moving parts with WD40 after any water gets on it.
hey whats up mempey name is charlie i got a summit with the same set up but it only has one esc for both engine. It still runs really fast but i was just wondering if it made a difference to have two esc's. Also you think that if i upgraded to a single mamba monster with lipo's will it be faster than the two twins that i have now. There the 550 motors from a revo. Thanks.

It wont make a difference adding another esc if you have brushed motors. You have to do that if you have 2 brushless motors. A mamba is crazy fast but not waterproof. That's why I put 2 Velinions in it.
im getting ready to install v twin's like yours in my e maxx 3905. With the wide ratio two speed, what gearing do you think I should try in it? Gonna use 4s and run in dirt and grass.
I dont have a summit, but I really want one, and If I got one, I would do this setup. Will the Motors or esc's Ever burn out or break? Please respond or make a video for this question. Thanks mempey =D
I didn't really get how you managed to get the mashers on geodes due to difference in the bead. However, just to share, on my rustler, I regularly use proline 30-series tires on Traxxas All-Star wheels. This combination has the same issue of difference in bead. What I do is cut off the upper layer (which actually is the hurdle for the tire bead ) of the wheel/rim with hobby knife. There is a technique to use the kife which makes cutting extremely simple. It has been working for me flawless.
You said in your Summit overview video that you waterproofed the MM and that it works great underwater. So did you MM-ESC smoked up or did something other happend?
I have a question for you: What I can recall, you first upgraded the Summit with the mamba monster set up? And now when you have changed to another brushless set up, what are the differences between these to ways of propelling this truck?

@nabilgravityoxygen if theyre only water resistant, they have a high degree of resistance. Last spring i took my slash vxl up into the hills to mess around, and it was downpourin like no tomorrow. I took it thru a deep puddle and it just sorta floated for a bit before i got it out. No water damage, in fact the only problem i encountered after that was was gravel gettin into the notch in the gearbox cover (if u own a slash u know what notch im talkin). the vxl passes the winter-in-oregon test!
hey man got a question for you,how do you get your rc's so clean lol? i can't get mine that clean most of the time, do you have something you spray on them and rinse or what?

So, you went from the Mamba to the twin VXL. Did your waterproofing on the mamba fail? Or do you have more than one Summit?

myrcrevo1 5 months ago
Probably, the problem is, the VXLhas a lot of speed, but not much torque. It is better to have 2 of them in such a heavy truck.

instead of two motors can you put one on and get the same power as the Titan 775
