  • How did you go about learning this tune? did you find any tabs for it or did you learn it by ear? i only live in Bolton, come and teach me! lol

  • Nailed it! Nicely done

  • You got it man! ' Nailed it perfectly. What I appreciate also is that we now have a better camera angle to see the whole arrangement. ' Really surprised that anyone else can play it that well because I know how hard it is. Thanks, from Alberta Canada

  • Truly excellent rendition of Mr. Martin's classic medley. I'm in total agreement with denrizza; the master would be honored.

  • @MrSwLehr Thanks mate, such a kind comment. :)

  • Thank you for posting. I love this song. Picked up my banjo a few days ago, have been learning a lot from watching everyone's videos.

  • How long have you been playing?

  • Very nicely done!

  • fantastic...wish i could frail. Took me 8 years to learn three finger picking hehe. cant hit a lick on the frail.

  • I believe Steve Martin would be honored.

  • ok man. you sick with it.

  • This is great!!!! The best rendition I've heard besides Steve Martin's!!!!

So did you learn this by ear or did you manage to find a tab somewhere? Because if you did, I was curious if you could send that to me.

    Great video!!!

  • @Johndunbar116

Steve Martin released the tabs to his The Crow album, it can be found on Amazon.

  • @WornGlobe Do they have this song tabbed out?

  • Holy smokes dude! I've been watching that clip of Steve Martin for years and you mastered it!!! Thank you for putting this out there and maybe, just maybe the rest of us can come close. But man oh man, now we need to have you and Steve Martin play a duet !!!

  • @dreyfusfunkt Thanks man, really appreciate you taking the time to comment!

  • Class!! Be cool

  • Hello Frailerpark,

great banjoplaying. You play it the way (tuning) Steve Martin does. Another possability is to tune in double C (gCGCD) and put the capo on the second fret, so then you play in D, of course. I think it is a bit easier to do as playing in open D.

Unfortunately I have no video (yet) of me playing it in double C. If you wish to, I can record a small video with the most important parts. Again, you did a great job on this. Cheers from the Netherlands.

  • @ClawhammerAnton Cheers, get that video up :)

  • Attempt? You understate your abilities. That was GREAT!

  • Wow. That's the same arrangement Steve Martin used. Fantastic. Did you get that by watching him play it, or did you just come up with that all on your own? I'm trying to learn that song. Your vid is now in my favorites. You played it very well. Thanks so, so much for posting this. It's WONDERFUL.

  • @d2majzoub cheers, mainly watching once I had the right tuning. Melody is nearly all on the one string.. ;)

  • awesome. spot on.

  • I don't wanna sound like a theory dork, but would you comment on some of the scales you're using here? That make sense? Hope so...

  • Beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for posting!

  • @ursulawurster Thanks! :)

  • where did you get the tabs from for this wonderful piece?

  • You are a real quality player - brilliant sense of rhythym and timing - like you have a built-in metronome. Sweet banjo

  • @ChudleighBanjo Thanks for your kind comment, cheers!

  • Really nice brother..just starting clawhammer and you're an inspiration keep it up.

  • @realgratefulone Cheers! :)

  • Great!!

    5*s

  • You nailed it. Did you learn it from watching Steve or did you get a hold of the TAB? I learned my somewhat cruder version from watching you. Thank you.

  • There is a tab available of the version he recorded on "The Crow" album which is slowed right down and the tunes are rearranged. Learned it mainly from listening to it really as nearly all the melody (think all of it is actually) line is played on the top string.

  • This sounds awesome

  • You did it brother! Excellent! What tuning is that? How long have you been frailing?

  • Many thanks , just over a year now. It's in open d , a D F# A D

  • i've seen it played both in open G and open D, why do you feel its easier in that tuning?

  • Hi, I initially did work out the basic tunes to this in G but (Since this was the tune that made me want to play in the first place) I really wanted to try and get the right sound to it and I since found out this was the tuning steve uses for it. Cheers for commenting. :)

  • great, thanks much

    cheers

  • Nice... mmm maybe i should learn to play mine

  • Quality strummin! Gonna check out Steve Martin on Jools Holland on my Sky + ;-)
