newtons 1st law of motion: an object at rest will stay at rest(the coins) and an object in motion will remain in motion at a coonstant speed until acted on by an outside force..... well.... the coins stayed at rest cuz the coins and the bill didnt have enough friction for the coins to stay on it. then the coins were acted on by an outside force(gravity obviously) and went into the bottle. im 13. simple physics

@iammclovin106 the outside force is not gravity; if there was said outside force, the coins would accelerate. the force friction is simply minuscule relative to the money pulled from underneath, so it doesn't move sideways. gravity is not a factor of the coins moving in the x direction. you're 13. simple physics.

There are several outside forces, two of the most important ones being gravity (proportional to the mass of the coins) and the equal but opposite supporting force from the bill and later the bottleneck, canceling out the acceleration. Why the coins don't move is because the friction with the bill is not high enough to overcome their inertia, i.e. their inherent property to retain their current state of motion.

@TehTurtleMan well. it seems i get to reply to someone every time i get to a different age.. im 15 now. gravity is the reason that the coins go down, not left or right(or x as you called it) the bill is pushing the coin up just as hard as gravity is pulling it down thus they remain motionless. when the bill is pulled away swiftly, the friction is so little that the coin doesnt stay on the bill and ends up falling essentially straight down without missing the whole in the bottle.
