  • It's not a matter of whether just you can handle it...its up to the horse too. if you have a stupid horse, chances are that you'll get hurt

  • :( geez i shouldn't have watched this! it going to be my first time going to a show and doing barrel racing :(

  • It's all about rating your horse before a turn. Which these people are NOT doing.

  • this is harsh on the poor horses!! if you truly loved your horse or pony would you want to even risk them falling or injuring them selves because they put their lives on their own lines because you ask them to do.!! harsh

  • 1:33 That is so adorable! I thought he was gonna go around the other barrel for a minute. LoL

  • 1:25 he's like, "wait! i have to finish rolling over!" LoL

  • You're an idiot to ride without a helmet no matter how much experience you have, and how well your horse behaves. Accidents happen, that's why they're called accidents.

  • @Organicchickenlady Do you insist on helmets because you have a chicken liver??? lol.

  • @Organicchickenlady It doesn't really matter to competitors cause if you're gonna fall, you are obviously not riding right and those are the consequences. In this video as soon as the horse starts bucking their heels go up and toes go down. Not smart riding..

  • @Organicchickenlady i agree with this, i got bucked off a 12hh pony and i was lucky i was wearing a helmet cos i landed on my head and got a concussion :L

  • Have you noticed that a lot of these clips are in the same arena? The footing must be terrible.

  • I'm sorry but I'm a barrel racer myself nd this kinda stuff nvr happened to me b4 bcuz most barrel horse r crazy Frm ppl pumping them up b4 runs but if trained right they are not like this but some horse are like this one day nd getting 13 sec runs

  • These people might want to learn the basics of riding first and handling a horse.

  • Is it bad that I laugh at everything that goes on in this video, just because I've been through it all?

  • God damn! Half these chicks need to be on a Clydesdale or something. Fat asses!

  • That footing must be shitty.

  • if you think yanking a horse's mouth they way those losers do, and kicking those spurs into a horse. They deserve to be bucked off and fucked off!!

  • Seriously??? Some of these comments just floor me.. I would suggest you learn something about the sport and maybe go watch at a few shows BEFORE you make your comments because to those that know the sport your ignorance is showing..

  • most of them are women, hah, and they clearly dont know what the heck they are doing to the horse, and thats why they are buucked off, and for the right couse! Horray for the horse! And OMG the last one, sorry, but abviosly a stupid women is butchering the horse with those spurs!!

  • this is why they should make a freakin rule about gear! and most of these people probably don't check if their horses are BOMBPROOF. I know plenty of horses that are.

  • Half these people can't even balance or keep their seat in the saddle....

  • I understnad why people post these types of videos... but here's my question why doesn't somebody post videos of some good barrel runs... i have a friend whos a professional barrel racer and she says this doesn't happen as often as you would think

  • its not just rider stupidity alot of it is just excitement and agitation of being where they are

  • what i really think is these people are stupid and trying to hurt their horses. enough said.

  • Aome of these.horses are.just agitataed thats why there buckin'

  • Comment removed

  • These accidents are because the riders are fucking terrible and probably treat their horses with no respect!

  • a lot of these accidents are the riders stupidity.

  • You know....barrel racing is not that dangerous if you train your horse. I barrel race, and have not yet had a horse slip out from under me. Or buck after a barrel. Or rear after a barrel. Or run down the fence at a barrel. Or throw a fit in the alley. Barrel racers are controlled runaways. You have to have the control first, and then add the runaway speed. When you do it backwards you get hurt.

  • @AmigoAndPar True, but accidents happen. They could trip. Or slip. You've been walking your whole life, but you trip some times... Helmets are so easy to just put on to potentially save a life. Or save a head.

  • @AmigoAndPar totally i mean its not for ppl who think that they can just climb on top of a horse and start runnin around barrels...you have to train, work, and love the sport. ive been barrel racing for 3 years and have never fallen off, my horse dusty is a really good barrel racer, o and you have to have horse that can run at full speed and sharply turn then get back up at full speed in a really short time

  • no one wears helmets it is a barrel race you put your life on the line anytime you get on a horse! a helmet is just false safty! in my oppinon!

  • I agree! Big race bred horses pushed to run run run with no thought put into control. Kudos the the horse whose rider got off balance that stopped and stood still, as well as the horse who stopped as soon as it lost it's rider.

Finally.. Put on a friggin helmet you freaks!

  • That just goes to show how many people cant ride and push their horses to do theses turn without considering the balance of turning that quick. And all the riders that don't have leg to hold them on. They hold on by their horses mouths, cause that's riding. And also NOT WEARING A HELMET. that's plain stupid

  • does anybody else notice that most of these are in the same place ? i mean when i go to one of my barrel race,if the first2 horses fall then we cancel the run cuz the GROUND is unsafe.and this isnt a good video for"can you handle it"cuz not every run is like this.actually they are rare.i saw one spill in 2011 and it was a 8 yo boy riding a automatic horse and he was unfamiliar with the horse so I rode him in the second round

  • This isnt really about being tough enough. 90% of these are very poorly trained horses lol and poor riders. IMO

  • @dav61474 barrel racing isn't for everyone. You may think it sucks and that is fine! I am glad that your life is much better with the Mule! They are great creatures! and your spelling is fine! @Diekolkrabe I completely understand. I once had my horse stabled at this place were all I was surrounded by was English riders. Trying to explain the pure athleticism of the horse when it comes to barrel racing is hard. Both disciplines are just that and require a lot of it! Dressage is a lot of fun! :)

  • It seems like this arena is cursed.

  • And if you are a horse trainer or beginning rider. DO NOT USE SPURS!!! EVER!!! I had a horse that was really stubborn when I was 10. She never did what I wanted her too. My mom put spurs on me and made me ride her and kick her a lot. So after that day I threw the spurs away and she did SO much better! DONT USE SPURS PEOPLE!!!

  • I LOVED barrel racing when I was little. I climbed my first saddle when I was two and rode by myself when I was six. I got bucked off when I was 7. I got run over, stepped on, head butted, and a concusion when i was nine. And yet my mom wont let me keep my gun in the house. Im a 13 year old female.

  • I like how one of the most dangerus sports this world has to offer is created for the girls.

  • love how no one is wearing a helmet....

  • You're not truely riding if you dont fall, you gotta fall at least once, and when you do... You brush yourself off and get right back on! That's what my mom told me when I fell off my pony(I was about five at the time) and she picked me up and put me back on even though I was crying and screaming. Since then I've always got back on when I fell. There was one time where I fell off and landed on the electric fence, I got shocked a good bit and I had the wind knocked outta me but I brushed it off

  • true passion theres a reason we do it

  • omg... if u watch this carefully most of the horses are getting spurred the hell out of them..

  • I watched this the night before a had a barrel show and I was scared all day I was gonna fall and I've been barrel racing for quite a while now!!!

  • @DieKolkrabe well I guess that is true. Just depends what suits you and how you learned

  • I hope half the people in this video are proud that they ruined there horses for such a simple minded discipline.... let the arguement begin!'

  • @Melmotthecat1 I see your only using less than half your brain in your simple minded statement...lets begin. Horses are flight animals, they run rather than fight, when being chased by a cougar or wolves do the motions look similar or dose a horse look like a ballerina in its pursuit of freedom?

  • Most of these accidents were from ground faults, and rider errors. Most of these people have 0 balance.

  • I like watching other people do this

  • These people need to learn the right way. You are supposed to sit you butt in the saddle when you turn

  • @Barrelhorse26 Depends how you get taught, I've had three instructors and been taught two differing ways, one said to sit down for two hoof falls, the other two said crouch and stand respectively, personally I find it easier balance wise to shift my weight over by standing, so no, you are not 'supposed to' sit down, it is how you get taught and how you ride, everyone is different.

  • Okay soo in this video the people are all retardd.. They obousily do not kno how to barrel race... Wen your horses rears you dont pull back on the reins. You just sit there till they stop..... & some ppl turned to tight.. You have yo have some shapes between the barrel & the horse!!! YOU DUH PEOPLE!

  • I hope you guys start considering wearing helmets!!!!!

  • @pcsporthorses helmet nazi

  • @dav61474 Hey - It's your body, your head....... Freakin' yahoos seem too evade common sense and concern for their own safety. I know there are good barrel racers out there..... but the ones I've seen don't know how to ride. They jerk the hell out of their horse's mouth, there is no connection, concern for the horse or skill involved. As far as helmets go, it only takes ONCE and you are either dead or a vegetable. That is what separates the Horsemen from the Yahoos.

  • @pcsporthorses your a democrat arn't you.........

do you wear a helmut while in a car

as many times I hit the ground never hit my head.... broke ribs 5 different times. why arn't you on about vests?

  • @dav61474 Actually, I"m registered Republican - just not a neo-con. I'm not into extremism. I'm just about common sense and safety. Yes, vests are a good idea! I"m not for over regulation, but I do think we need some safety guidlines. Eventers are actually required to wear safety vests due to the nature of the sport. You are lucky you haven't hit your head. . Vests, again are a great protection as well, but broken ribs are less likely to cause serious injury or death.

  • @pcsporthorses establishment Republican or Tea Party? big difference meow. as for broken ribs puncturing a lung your right that ain't so bad.

and for safety guidelines, their already one in place, its called "personal responsibility"

It won't be your fault if I get hurt.

  • @dav61474

I am moderate Republican - never Tea Party - WAY to extreme IMO. Look, we're never going to agree on the helmet issue. As an adult, yes, I agree... personal responsibility. Minors, however should be required to wear safety gear. When they become adults, they can make the choice to risk becoming a vegetable or worse. Have fun riding. I wish you well and no major injuries :-)

  • @pcsporthorses moderate means people who are to afraid to make a stand on an issue, and only go with the popular trend.

    Iam a Tea Partier...and a dittohead

hey check me out I started a conversation with "melmothercat1" if were done,,, you can observe this one....

  • @dav61474

OK.... Rush :-p I beg to differ - moderate is the land of common sense! Extreme thinking is the route of mental illness. I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in! IN fact - I take a firm stand against extremism :-) To each their own though.

LIfe is too short to argue about politics! Go ride, enjoy your horse, Enjoy another day God has given us.

  • @pcsporthorses I own a mule. Tea Party is not extreme, were just not supporting milk toast Republican incumbents. I don't like extremist on left or right. I agree its a mental illness that can be controlled by the death penalty,,,, I hope that isn't too extreme for you. If you study your Bible in the old testament God set up rule on how to take care of these problem people. see yah, I am off to ride my ass.

  • @pcsporthorses Real cowboys/girls don't need them. lol

  • @RunsWithHorses09 Yes - because being a "real cowboy/girl" you are invinsible... hahaha. Ignorance is such bliss :-)

  • Also a horse is over 1000 lbs. if a horse didn't want 2 barrel race it could easily refuse and wouldn't do it if it didn't want 2. Yes I've seen ppl who r mean 2 their horses but that don't mean the sport is cruel itself

  • And to every1 who thinks barrel racing is cruel and hurts the horse F.Y.I u can't whip/kick a horse any harder than they kick each other in the pasture .. And another reason whipping don't hurt is cause the horse should 1. Be muscle in its hind quarters and 2. They have a 2-3 in. Layer of skin it don't hurt have u whipped urself where u have muscle ??? It don't hurt cause its muscle... DUH!!!!

  • Barrel racing is a sport and who ever thinks its not then they r stupid and I barrel race and I kick behind / going around the barrel and I also push my horse but what the owner / trainers job is 2 do is 2 teach the horse how 2 rate itself I'm training my horse 2 barrel race and the first thing I taught my horse was slow then I added speed and taught her 2 rate it's not that hard so don't blame the rider cuz sometimes it's the trainer and not the rider barrel racing is not a very dangerous spor

  • Ouch that looked like some of those really hurt! I hope none of those happen to me when im running barrels anytime soon!

  • hell ya we can handle anything...!!!!!! im a barrel racer too but only for 2 years and i only trust 1 horse. acctully when it comes too barell racing i think u can ask anyone that they only tust thier own horse i dont care if u have the sweetest horse but i will only ride on my horse cause i have no clue that horse i have never meet before!!! that is all i have to say... my point has been made...

  • @Chancelover23227 How about hmmm you leave me alone i saw a girl that was pushin her horse and the horse slipped so just leave me alone keep your comments to yourself idiot. It is anywa

  • i give a lot of damn cudos to that 2 and 3 barrel racer cause that took guts!

  • @spirit1435 who cares if you're 11, it doesn't matter how old you are.

  • ive been barrel racing and got thrown int the audience

  • Can I use this clip pleaseE?

  • 1:22 is the worse!

  • Part of the reason they r fallen off is because they are goin way to fast around the barrel so the horse slips. The people who go way to fast around the barrel r probaly greedy

  • @spirit1435 The point is to go fast. Hence the title.

  • @MadisonAtMidnight yes i know i barrel race but it is my point of veiw because i am 11

  • Um this is a vid of people fallin off

  • I am a barrel racer and have been thrown to the ground and into fences. For anyone that doesn't believe barrel racing is a sport, I got some information for ya.. IT IS! It takes just as much athleticism on the horses part and the riders part as jumping! English is not all there is out there people! I ride both and have competed in both. Neither is easy and neither is superior to the other.

  • im a barrel racer too im 10

  • @howieloo I'm a competing jumper (regional level here) and starting racing, I've been been thrown off horses in both jumping and racing and dressage, had my feet rammed into gates at a canter lining jumps up, I've cracked ribs, I've been kicked and bitten tending to horses, I'm tired of having to explain that barrel racing is a sport at my stable, it's all dressage there. Every discipline of riding is equally hard.

  • @DieKolkrabe YES! Finally, someone who sees both end of the rope! Thank you!

  • @Only1HighlighterLeft I I get that a lot, the whole 'Oh jumping/racing isn't a sport' line.

I have a comeback, something along the lines of 'If you think it isn't a sport, get on the horse, try it, and I'll either be here or helping you up'

It's pretty sad when you have to explain to people that every discipline of riding is equally as hard. I'm tired of armchair jockeys to be blunt, if they think it's easy, they can try it

  • @DieKolkrabe Yeah, and I hate when people say, "ALL losing racehorses are sent to slaughter". I ride Western at a barn (a little family owned, nothing fancy, I don't own it) where they have 2 ex racehorses. Very sweet horses. They never really won, and now they are leading happy lives as Western riding horses. One of them, the mare, I ride alot and I love her to death.

  • @Only1HighlighterLeft Agreed, I look after a Fresian that used to compete in national events, he has a horrific mean streak, but I still love him to death, even if his way of greeting me is to take a kick at me if I walk behind him too quickly, he got a second in his only overseas event (competing in Europe for flat racing) then he got turfed out, I love all the horses I look after, feel drawn to the ex racehorses most, my QH is an ex racer who so say didn't have the skills

  • @DieKolkrabe ILOVE Fresians, they are beautiful ( as long as you brush them!) At that same place, they got a Fresian x Persian, and he has a thick mane that gets tangled, but they don't have time to brush it. He doesn't realize how big his head is, and he thinks he's a big lapdog :)

  • @howieloo I gave up barrel racing cause it SUCKS, I traded my horse in for a mule and life is so much better,......hows my spelling?

  • I have been to many horse shows and this stuff doesnt happen because the rider is stupid or the horse is under trained this stuff happens i should know i have had things like this happen to me and it might be funny to some people but u have u actually tried barrel racing? so think before u ever diss barrel racers we go through more pain in this sport than football players cuz their not on a 1000 pound animal.

  • I laugh at these riders stupidity, hahahaha,

  • WORST TRAINED HORSES I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!!, also riding without helmets is stupid so if they get hurt its on them ( not the horses).

  • this is one of the most dangerouses sports out there nd us cowgirls love to do it we put our lives on the line to do what we love to do a year ago i was riding my cusins horse bc i dont have one of my own nd we were in the middle of doing good when the horse spocked nd started bucking like hell i stayed on for as long as i could then jumped off to get the horse to stop he finaly did nd we went back to riding

  • this can b a very dangerous sport i wld kno from experience it ddnt happen 2 me in the arena but wen traning my horse i got thrown in2 my barrel

  • Comment removed

  • some of these bloopes are the reason you should where a helmet

  • i dnt no where people get the idea yanking a horses mouth doesnt her i have seen alot of rider try to slow there horses down by yanking or just plain pulling and using a jaw brakerA.K.A western bit you should just be able to tug a few times if your horse has a good mouth.

  • @Sugerpop105 YOUR STUPID AND YA DONT KNOW SQUAT SO STAY OUTTA IT YOU JACKWAGON!

  • All the people probaly are good riders but think bout it! Everyone has there " off " days and this happened to be one off them! And no. You shouldn't be able to ride a barrel pattern bridles and bareback! If you know anything, you would know that when a horse is sprinting to the first barrel and then turns to go to the next barrel they should pop up and acually spring forward. So ridding bare back and brideless she NoTHING and if you do ride " brideless " then thats cudios to your horse, not you

  • To the comment "yanking on the mouth doesn't hurt them", exactly what do you think the bit and shanks are designed to do? Whenever I work on my new horses, we use soft work on the mouth so they don't become hard and are very responsive to the slightest request, we also use leg aids to take some of that pressure off their mouth. Agree with those who say these women are tough, having a horse rear and whack you in the forehead... lots of stars... I've seen 'em! :)

  • Ooohhhh but man are those women tough!!!! Ride em cowgirl!!!

  • holy crap! 2:47! i hope everyone was ok. (: nice video by the way!

  • awesome!! where do all people get these clips from?? o.o

  • bien fait pour les gens qui s'acharne sur ces pauvre bêtes...

  • I just wanna ask one thing about barrel racing.

Why in the name of god do you have to whip the horse so many times?!

It's running at full speed and if it goes faster it can fall and break a leg.

I don't know how you ride barrel racing but I think it's horrible to watch the "pro's"

They jank the rains SO hard and I don't understand why the horse trusts the rider.

Sorry but I serioulsy just don't get it.

  • @WolfCreekCity Thats right you dont get it.

  • There is clearly no control on the part of the rider in all but one or two of these videos. The guy who was hanging on the side of the horse but did not come off is the only example of commendable riding. The horse's head is tilted slightly toward him, doing a one-rein stop and the horse is completely focused on him. The rest of them are too busy trying to get a good time to worry about the success of the horse. In a good partnership, you should be able to do the pattern bareback and bridleless.

  • hahaha! at @1:29 the horses rider fell off and the horses finishes the barrells by himself :P

  • i have two things to say 1 ouchhhhhh 2 its funny most of these riders could of done simple things to prevent these issues but cool video

  • il barrel non è solo incidenti! come in tutti gli sport equestri possono esserci incidenti ma non sei tenuta a giudicare tu...le tue opinioni te le tieni per te!

  • Not enough people have disliked this video.

  • Barrel racing is not as easy as ppl think. all the bull and bronk riders think were wuss's but in reality barrel racing can be a very dangerous sport. and Btw they've already made helmets that look like western hats

  • ive got what it takes ive fell off 3 times

  • Fat lady at 1:23 drove her horse into the ground

  • wow my horse could never do this. aside that fact that hes a chicken, and as english as english gets, and can't turn for his life, he would have some serious issues galloping into that chute. hes such a wimp.

  • Going racing tomarow I hope nothing happens like this to me

  • At 2:00 When This Happens It Allways scare be SO Bad !!! D:

  • 2:33- been there, done that.

  • @olivianordwalldrake agreed they should make helmets that look like cowgirl hats

  • Us cowgirls are tough. We can handle anything.

  • true dat

  • @jaaylove101 even a snake?

  • Gypsyhorsewest: you obviously don't know anything about horses have you even ridin western or ridin the barrel pattern? Because you are being a jerk and h feel bad for ur horses having to listen to u ramble on and on

  • cont ..... and man's wish to be noticed, while taking advantage of an animal. This utube is on barrel racing. That is the topic focus. Your name "stophorseabuseimmadi" seems contradictory to what you are about??? at least in this discussion. You appear to want to protect the barrel racing.

  • people who abuse or approve abuses on animals usually throw the discussion toward another target., which you have done. I have been involved with horses and the sports of horses for years. There are no excuses, ever, in deliberate methods that are all about winning. and ego.

  • Ummmm this is why western riders should really wear helmets. I feel all riders should wear helmets, unless you are just too stupid to have anything to protect!

  • tell me how you know a horse loves being yanked in the mouth; being spurred to the point of abuse; having damage to their knees and other body parts. Just how do they tell you?????

  • @Gypsyhorseswest Let me guess, you haven't seen the sides of dressage horses, eventing(jumping) horses, they actually have really bad open sores from the spurs, they keep the rein's so tight the horse cant move his head, do you think that is comfy to the horse? Every horse sport is going to almost make a horse get hurt. Get over it and stop blaming one sport.

  • Foolish to portray supposed good horsemanship is barrel racing where you rip the horses mouth up; ignore the dangers of what you are doing to the legs; and set the horse up for disaster. Horses would not choose to do this on their own. They would choose to run, yes.

  • @Gypsyhorseswest probably most of these horses on here had some sort of issue and didn't want to do anything that day.i saw on tv one horse got a tooth problem and bucked her rider off because it hurt when the bit hit her teeth or something, but a lot of horses like to barrel race.my grandpa had a horse a long time ago named tuesday that loved it. in fact on day when my grandpa was running him at a race something happened to the saddle and it fell off and tuesday ran the rest of the pattern.

  • @Gypsyhorseswest You hit the nail on the head. Kicking the crap out of your horse is NOT good horsemanship. It's just not. And of course it's justified so you can get a good time and win a cheap belt buckle.

    Sad.

  • wow. I have dont one barrel race my entire 5+ years of riding and that was pretty much all the western i've done with maybe one other time of riding wester. BUT now i'm gonna get soem private lessons in barrel racing so i can compete and do it right, anyone got some first-timer tips?

  • It wasn't just the bit, you'll notice a few of them digging their spurs into their horse just before they fall. Wouldn't you stumble or buck too if something was stinging your sides over.. and over and over again? Lol x3 IJS

  • can none of these people just grab thesaddle horn or the mane instead of swinging on the bit-no wonder so many of the poor horses go up and over.not a good example of barrel racing or any kind of riding(:-(((

  • I love the horse at 1:30 who keeps goin by himself!

  • everyone in this video needs to get off their ponies mouths! Give them their head for pete's sake

  • Wow, great video. And the song fits right to it! I LOVE HORSEBACKRIDIN' <3

  • 0:10 Barrel Racing: You're Doing It Wrong.

  • @olivianordwalldrake Most people in western riding, do not wear helmets. I have had multiple horse injury's and a helmet wouldn't have effected me at all. In most instances the helmet wouldn't break your fall anyways. I know it's always safest to wear one, considering 'just in case'. But in my opinion. If god wants you to die doing what your doing, your gonna die. There really is no beating death.

  • @LittleMissBarrelRace 0:42 When helmets are useful. God would at least hope his people had the common sense to take care of themselves properly. What happened to "Treat your body like a temple" <-- Which is a basic summary of 1 Corinthians 6:19-20?

  • @C00kieM0nster07 Yeah... I don't read the bible. Sorry! lol

  • @LittleMissBarrelRace lol, thought you did when you stated when you stated "if God wanted you to die then it's your time to go" or something like that. lol, my bad xD I was confuzzled, so I asked. ^-^

  • @C00kieM0nster07 Oh, I was just stating that there is no cheating death.. lol

  • o goodness i feel srry for those horses!

  • This video is a great example of what happends when people who dont no how to ride buy expencive FAST horses. for real every one on this video should be ashamed

  • @LoveChrissy96 I agree 100%! Very nicely said (:

  • This is pretty funny actually...No i dont want to see any horse get hurt, but rider error is HUGE in this video. However, I have seen disaster strike in all diciplines...they are horses, not robots, its not fi, its when you get hurt. Riding comes withn assumed risks, and even the best riders can have something like this happen. It only takes "1 mississippi."

  • well, it's like making "profi" video about skiing with people who have no experience, or who are skiing with snowshoes.. I've seen just two men in this video, who seemed to work with their horse proper, but just fell because of their poor riding skill.. All the others are just normal people who got accidentally on a horse.. I'd rather shoot myself in my knee, than say that this video is showing a truth about barrel racing.. (sorry for my english, it's almost as poor as these mens riding skill..)

  • I know i'm not a barrel racer type of person, when i was 16 I was looking to buy a horse just a horse to ride! my neighbour picked up this appolosa horse that i'm guessing was trained to be a barrel racer cause man that horse took off from a stand to a full run and i ended up sitting behind the saddle! lol My neighbour same thing and he's a cowboy 56yrs old! My neighbours remark was holy shit!! lol

  • my horse completly stops just if my foot comes out the stirup

  • hey dream be nice I would love to see people like you barrel race its not that easy. I jump and may think that is hard but barrel racing is harder than jumping.

  • @CrazyPonyKiki This isn't barrel racing dear. These people have no idea what they are doing. It's not just running as fast as you can around a barrel. If you do that you get a badly trained horse that drops his should and falls over and when he's not falling he's bucking you off or smacking you in the head with his own.

If this is barrel racing then no it's really east. Just get a psycho horse that can't even walk into the arena properly and hold on to the horn. Really simple.

  • Good grief. Stop spurring the horse to death, cranking on its mouth and learn to ride! And while you're at it, get some proper footing in those arenas! I don't even ride in this discipline and I'm embarrassed to watch this. How about leaving the barrel racing to the people who can do it right while you go take some proper riding lessons?

  • im amazed some people stayed on

  • I just prefer to stay on the horse haha. nah crap happens, thats why you practice, get your tack in racing condition, take care of the horse ....simple stuff. been racing for a while, and usually, either A) its a colt thats just over stimulated, or b) tack malfunction....

  • Most of this is the riders fault because they aren't rating soon enough, and all the ones who fell off where throwing off their horses balence because they were sitting way to far forward and not in the center gravity of their horse. Yes, some were accidents, because the horses missed a step, or the footing was obviously bad. But alot was bad horsemanship, and preperation.

  • I like this vid- So what? accidents happen. There is no reason to call these people 'idiots" or "dumbasses". I have been riding since I was two and i have fallen so many times and Its only made me a stronger and better rider. All of u that have posted critical comments arent good sports about this.Only a real barrel racer falls.

  • most of the clips in this video are showing some of the dumbasses who dont know what there doing like at 00:46 the chick wont holding on and threw her self off. an the dude after that took to wide of a turn and took the horse into the wall. ive been around rodeos and horses my whole life an never seen this poor of horsemanship... some times the horse will over step but not that often or in a young untrained horse.

  • Ok I have rode horses all my life and barrel race sometimes the horse screws up and misfoots. Falls happen the person is hurt more than the horse! Thats why the horse get up and run away. The horse misses the person after they fall off cause they love them!!! I am sure none of you have ever rode a horse either!!

  • @akbarrelqueen i agree with what you said but sometiems the horse just hides what they are hurt because that's what they need to do in the wild to survive but then they could be totally fien too (:

  • Harsh bits in hideous hands should be a crime.

  • @haleymdavenport yes actually I have ridden a horse. In fact, I have ridden many horses and own three right now. I know how to ride, something you probably dont know anything about, apparently. I have ridden my entire life, english western you name it now Im doing barrels so dont you tell me I dont know how to ride a horse.

  • its partially the riders cuz they are making their horses too hot for barrels and the reason they are slipping is the ground so grow up cuz i bet if you had a crazy horse like that you couldnt ride any better than them so back off it happens to everyone

  • i feel bad for the horses. if i was a horse i would wanna get rid of my owner too if they were trying to ride me like that
