I don't really think Kasumi's an airheaded, I think she acts like that because of the fact that she took all the responsabilities of the mother. She's smart and sweet, but she is always thinking about her father and sisters (even in ranma, genma and happosai) , that's why she just cooks and clean.

You can watch the OVAs, but personally I hate all anime thatisnt in the manga. :/
