What do you mean "tragic" deaths? Do you mean like violent death? Tragic death to me means people you really liked/felt sorry for. I didn't feel sorry or bad that Michael's step dad was killed. But the rest were pretty sad, Omar, Bodie, D'Angelo, Wallace.
It only took until the first entry on this list for me to have a problem. You consider the death of Michael's stepfather tragic? The dude molested Michael. He deserves whatever he gets
Think it's more the way he went out, not even a dog deserves a death like that.. hence why even Snoop cringed when she looked at the savagery of the beating.
I thought Snoops death was more tragic then the stepfathers. Any way I hate seeing Bodie and Stringer get gotten. D's and Wallace hurt too. Omar's death suck because he got gotten by a fucking little kid.
@KnightsSportsLeader Yeah Wallace and D'angelo are my two favorite characters because they wanted to get out, they were smart. The thing about the wire is that everyone is pretty much likable, I even liked stringer for awhile..
I think Wallace was the only one that was "tragic." Everybody else was knowingly involved in the drug trade, Wallace was just a kid trying to do the right thing.
OMG the chokin one reminds mii of my friend we was in the basement and all of a sudden his best friend strangled him OMG that really got to mii R.I.P T.R and i hope ole boy stay in jail mne
Last clip: Bodie says He is a Pawn to McNulty. He attacks only diagonally like pawns do! Then Michael attacks like a Knight in the end... That's some awesome writing.
Bodie's death hurt. Ill never forget it. I was sad the rest of the night. LOL. Prop Joe's death fucked me up too. The seen was so cold and eerie feeling. Best series of all time
The hardest one for me to watch was Wallace .. I cnt even re watch it . The kid had so much heart. I also couldn't watch Butchie and Bodie had me in tears too.. And the brutal beating I cldnt watch either .. tht one got me seeing the blood anfd stuff. Even snoop was like wooaahh
@queenieimpossible For me it's harder to watch the investigation scene of D'Angelo after Wallace's death.. "Wallace said he out the game.. we even laughed about him returning to school, being 16 n all".."I want what Wallace wanted. Start anew" "I wanna breathe like normal folk". and the jail scene "Where Wallace at? String! look at me! Where's Wallace?!" F***ed up shit. :(
@ttarkus yeah . i wish d'angelo put more effort into helping wallace , stringer was wicked. i hated seeing dangelo drop if he was going to roll back on them he wouldve done it from time. all Dee wanted was to be isolated from them so he tried to shut them out but stringer took that for weakness smh
Seriously wtf Devar doing on this list? He is one of the few characters that invokes no sense of sympathy. I mean, the man molested his son. At least with Bodie, you hate him for killing Wallace but you gain a certain level of empathy for him as you see just how messed up his world is and how society consistently fails people in vulnerable positions like his and the other corner boys.
Putting Devar in a list of tragic deaths is as nonsensical as putting in Marlo had he died.

@SuperMatttyD 100%? Do you pay attention when watching The Wire? It's not Michael! When talking to Marlo Chris notes that Michael used to work for Bodie so it should not be Michael who drops him. You also get a quick glimpse at Bodie's shooter's face before he fires at point blank range. The shooter looks too darkskinned to be O-Dog and it probably wasn't Monk too. Someone other random shooter I suppose.
@SuperMatttyD michael was supposed to kill bodie then chris told marlo his first kill should be someone he doesn't know. it wasn't michael, it was some other kid.
i just dont understand this show i am a 21 year old woman no kids but why did chris beat up that old man like that thats wrong and homeboy in the background just lookin this is like my second time lookin at this show! and ttarkus thanx 4 postin!
@TheBabygirlcrystal Chris beat that man up because he was a child molester, and chris new the kid he had molested. Chris himself had been molested by his father, so it was personal.
@bigballsbiggerdick No, it was O-Dog. Marlo's guy, just a little character in the show. I also thought first "Was that Michael??" but later read it was O.
@bigballsbiggerdick 1: Marlo gives the order to Chris "Use your pup, get him started", but Chris balks "Nah, Michael worked for Bodie, it'd be better if it was someone he ain't know"
2: Chris tells Michael " You look 'em in the eye. No matter who he is or what he's done, you look him right in the eye"
indicates that it wasn't Michael, the killer didn't even have eye-contact with B. But excluding Michael, the killer couldve been anyone. Many sites just state it was O-Dog.
@bigballsbiggerdick and you maybe could see it's not Michael's face but not from this video (poor quality). Chris also trained O to shoot so he was capable of this killing.
@bigballsbiggerdick nope. marlo suggested that michael do bodie - but then chris said for his first time "maybe it not be somebody that he know." so it was O dog.
loved bodie as #1. over the course of four seasons, we grew from thinking he was a piece of shit hopper with no redeeming qualities to thinking he was a genuine human being (with no redeeming qualities). he died the same way his brother probably did. and the same way preston braodus carried his brother, bodie will probably be carried by the true survivor of the series, malik 'poot' carr.
@thatguydbell Yeah. On the first season I hated him for what he did to Wallace But from 2nd Season the character just developed so much to the fourth, my favourite along with Omar. Bodie's death was a big setback. Can we see one of the most liked characters thru the whole series in any other show dying so coldly without bigger aftermaths? Nothing comes to my mind except a few from Sopranos. Thats The Wire, realism.watching Prison Break for example something like that isnt possible
@unclefreddie70 I know what tragic means. This is "the most tragic" which means they're necessarily not very tragic at all, but just which are closest. Imo most of them are but dunno 'bout you.
i rem how upset i was @ how omar went out! after all the things he did on the show, a kid? really? but maybe that was mr simon way of showing change of times....
@cvdover Yeah I agree with you it went against the norm, it took balls for the writers to do that. The reason I bring it up is because I always play out different scenarios in head about Omar taking out Chris and Marlo, and it brings a smile to my face.
@tacosaucemafia I thought that's how Omar woulda went out but it's not realistic to have an epic gunfight like movies and The Wire is all about realism, the way Omar went out pissed me the fuck so bad, but it was the most realistic way
I still to this day have not gotten over Omar's death, I have to admit I cried like a mofo when that shit happened. Even worse it was that piece of shit kenard.
This list is awful, you could easily come up with a better list of tragic deaths. Michael's stepfather molested him for christsake. How about actual tragic deaths of victims? Bodie, D'Angelo, Wallace, Omar, Frank, Sherrod, Prop Joe, Butchie, and Brandon is the best list I can think of quickly.
@johowe7771 None of those I would consider "tragic". They all had it coming. Like Omar says "it's all in the game, yo". When you're part of that lifestyle you have to deal with the consequences of your actions and all those characters did things that led to consequences that needed to be paid.
Wallace and D'Angelo would by far the worst because they did not deserve what happened to them. Especially D'angelo he already took the years he wasnt going to say anything, its just that hes the one out of all of them who had a conscious and Stringer Bell got him killed anyway him and Wallace. At the end of it all Stringer Bell got killed and Bodie got killed off the show they both where doing their dirt so karma came back around on them.
@Nelly0523 Yea but you have to look at it from perspectives of the guy who got each of them killed. Wallace actually did snitch and was going to testify eventually, and D'Angelo was on the edge of being turned and if he woulda started yapping, the entire Barksdale organization was going down. Avon's sentence woulda been increased, prolly to life, Stringer woulda been in there as well. From Stringer's prospective, he had to take care of D.
I. HATED. MARLO!!! that dude was responsible for for some of the most tragic killings. Bodie, Prop Joe, Butchie, Lil Kevin. smh. Hated him!! Maybe that's why the show was so freakin good.
This list is ridiculous. A "tragic" death is one undeserved...at least in my eyes. Half of the people on this list either wanted or deserved to die. Not saying they deserved it, but they were in the game, so what do you expect. If anything, the tragic deaths are the civilians from 'The Wire'.
@mainlyy Yeah, but who would want a see that list? Obviously I put the characters we got familiar with, not some dude who appears for 1 minute in the show. But you're right though, some other word, not "tragic" would fit better.
Omar was by far my favorite character, but I don't see his death as that tragic. I loved him on the screen, but him NOT getting killed would have been more tragic to the story, with the kid who Bunk saw pretending to be "Omar" shooting him. It all goes full circle.
I think I felt worse for Chris mentally reliving whatever traumatic event it was that brought him to take out Michael's father like that, than I did for Michael's father. Seriously, fuck that guy
only ones tragic on this list was bodie, dangelo, and wallace. the rest had it coming and knew what they was in. those 3 i named where different cause they had good hearts
U fools must be trippin..... the most tragic was the first one.... Michael killing his stepfather was the most gruesome to me than gun popping off...... look all the the blood and the anger and ferocity in those punches were lethal... i mean wtf.... the stepfather had to done something really horrible to deserve that DAMMMMN......
@HillValley85 Yea man, I get why Bodie's and Wallace's deaths can be considered to be more tragic, but to me Omar was by far the series' best character and to me his death, though expected, hit me the hardest. I became very emotionally invested in Omar's feud with Marlo/Chris/Snoop, and I really, reaaaallly wanted him to kill at least Chris and Marlo. Seeing those two motherfuckers survive him was kind of disappointing, though it didn't make the show any worse.
Bodie's death is definitely the most tragic, Out of all the fictional characters deaths I've seen, his death is the one that actually made me lose sleep.
@dejonal I actually lost sleep after the season 4 finale as well. The whole episode was just too much. I don't think any other episode of any other series will ever make me lose sleep like that one did.
@dawgpacker I mean, he did some pretty fucked up shit, and also we all knew he was going to die a couple of scenes before he actually died. I loved Stringer, but his death wasn't really shocking to speak of.
@DeanMurray08 I agree about Bode's death scene. I was no mo good. But the one that still gets me, the one I still hav 2 fast forward through b/c it hurts so much, is Wallace death. To hear him PLEAD for his life, to be killed by your own friends...wow. Michael B Jordan ripped that scene up. *sniff*
@soundjive Very true! I like when Cheese was saying to the cops "yall some cold motherfuckers" when they were making fun him crying over his dog. lol.
I have to agree. Putting Michael's pedophile step-father in here is a disgrace. Honestly, considering the lives that these characters led, I have a hard time calling ANY of these deaths "tragic". The only one that truly disturbed me was the death of Wallace. I felt so bad for that kid. The genius of shows like The Wire, The Shield, Sons of Anarchy and shows like them is that they make you care about what happens to characters that really aren't good people. Still, Wallace didn't have to die.
Chris fucked up when he spit i was amazed that the same guy who sad "I get to a job a hour early sometime two" would do something stupid like spit on the guy he just killed
Everybody saying micheal's dad was a pedo when he wasn't. micheal made that up to get his dad out the crib. he manipulated chris.

4. Bodie- This one made me the saddest. But atleast he went out like a soldier and wouldn't let them run him off his corner to those vacant houses!
5. Omar- He gets taken out by a little punk so abruptly.

This list is ridiculous. A "tragic" death is one undeserved...at least in my eyes. Half of the people on this list either wanted or deserved to die. Not saying they deserved it, but they were in the game, so what do you expect. If anything, the tragic deaths are the civilians from 'The Wire'.
mainlyy 2 months ago
@mainlyy Yeah, but who would want a see that list? Obviously I put the characters we got familiar with, not some dude who appears for 1 minute in the show. But you're right though, some other word, not "tragic" would fit better.
ttarkus 2 months ago
Omar was by far my favorite character, but I don't see his death as that tragic. I loved him on the screen, but him NOT getting killed would have been more tragic to the story, with the kid who Bunk saw pretending to be "Omar" shooting him. It all goes full circle.
Bodie #1
48MrJeffrey 2 months ago
1. Omar 2. Wallace 3. Bodie 4. Stringer 5. Frank 6. Sherrod 7. Snoop 8. Brandon 9.Butchie 10. Johhny Weeks
listerfiend21 2 months ago
I think I felt worse for Chris mentally reliving whatever traumatic event it was that brought him to take out Michael's father like that, than I did for Michael's father. Seriously, fuck that guy

My bad. Wallace should be at the top and Mike's dad should be nowhere on here.
chewbacca1010 3 months ago 14
@chewbacca1010 Actually Wallace is number 2.
ttarkus 3 months ago
@ttarkus I think it should be 1, to be honest.

@chewbacca1010 Chewbacca from imdb?
darkshad109 2 months ago
@darkshad109 Dunno man, I have a different name for IMDb, but I do post on "the Wire" board once in a while.
chewbacca1010 2 months ago
Wallace isn't here, and Micheal's father is? So the pedo getting killed is somehow more tragic then a nice street kid?
This list is nonsense.
chewbacca1010 3 months ago
@chewbacca1010 Wallace is number 2.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
Wallace should be one.

U fools must be trippin..... the most tragic was the first one.... Michael killing his stepfather was the most gruesome to me than gun popping off...... look all the the blood and the anger and ferocity in those punches were lethal... i mean wtf.... the stepfather had to done something really horrible to deserve that DAMMMMN......
ajaykeer23939 3 months ago
Omar. Should have been number 1 , easily.
Was kinda expecting it but stunned at the same time.
moonmonkey999 3 months ago
I'll be honest. After Omar got killed, watching the final two episodes were hard to get through.
HillValley85 3 months ago
@HillValley85 Yea man, I get why Bodie's and Wallace's deaths can be considered to be more tragic, but to me Omar was by far the series' best character and to me his death, though expected, hit me the hardest. I became very emotionally invested in Omar's feud with Marlo/Chris/Snoop, and I really, reaaaallly wanted him to kill at least Chris and Marlo. Seeing those two motherfuckers survive him was kind of disappointing, though it didn't make the show any worse.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
Bodie's death is definitely the most tragic, Out of all the fictional characters deaths I've seen, his death is the one that actually made me lose sleep.
dejonal 3 months ago
@dejonal I actually lost sleep after the season 4 finale as well. The whole episode was just too much. I don't think any other episode of any other series will ever make me lose sleep like that one did.

dawgpacker 3 months ago
@dawgpacker I mean, he did some pretty fucked up shit, and also we all knew he was going to die a couple of scenes before he actually died. I loved Stringer, but his death wasn't really shocking to speak of.
AlvinHDavernport 3 months ago
Frank Sobotka's death was the most tragic in my opinion. It was just a straight up greek tragedy.
OcelotDAD 3 months ago
bug's dad getting killed wasn't tragic at all, it was just disturbing as fuck

stk32018 3 months ago
@DeanMurray08 I agree about Bode's death scene. I was no mo good. But the one that still gets me, the one I still hav 2 fast forward through b/c it hurts so much, is Wallace death. To hear him PLEAD for his life, to be killed by your own friends...wow. Michael B Jordan ripped that scene up. *sniff*

cheese killing his dog is more tragic than bug's dad getting killed
soundjive 3 months ago 8
@soundjive Oh shit I forgot the dog completely.. might think that as the most tragic 'cause dogs don't do wrong, they have no moral...
ttarkus 3 months ago
@ttarkus i was kidding but in all seriousness i reckon rashard doing the hot shot is probably more tragic, but it's still a good list man
soundjive 3 months ago
@soundjive Very true! I like when Cheese was saying to the cops "yall some cold motherfuckers" when they were making fun him crying over his dog. lol.

course no one cares about michaels step dad dying..but i think the way he was killed was tragic. thats the only scene that actually disturbed me.
Why isn't Snoop in this!?
lilethio11 4 months ago
I have to agree. Putting Michael's pedophile step-father in here is a disgrace. Honestly, considering the lives that these characters led, I have a hard time calling ANY of these deaths "tragic". The only one that truly disturbed me was the death of Wallace. I felt so bad for that kid. The genius of shows like The Wire, The Shield, Sons of Anarchy and shows like them is that they make you care about what happens to characters that really aren't good people. Still, Wallace didn't have to die.
Grizzam721 4 months ago
@Grizzam721: His death should have been #1.
Grizzam721 4 months ago
Ok I just saw #10 you can bump that to #1 dangg.. (Haven't even watched the rest.)
