You'd probably find that the Koala label is most likely a budget, re-issue label. Its great to find stuff like that in nice condition because it adds to the exotic nature of your collection. I'm sure I don't have anything on the Koala label but I'll keep an eye out for it.
@MrPlatypus9 Thanks! You're the only one who posted anything about it, so... I still know nothing! It just seemed strange to me when I found it, you know?
@seqouiaflame In a quick web search I found a few people talking about Koala and that seemed to be what some of them thought. They indicated that Koala was in Tennessee and there were some opinions about some of their re-issues. They may also have issued some new recordings. Its not all completely clear to me.
We sadly lost Johnny Maestro a year or two ago. But, yes, he was a king of both Doo Wop and Bubblegum 60s. He was both the lead singer of The Crests (16 Candles) and the Brooklyn Bridge (The Worst That Could Happen). Great find man! Some super groovy jazz, too. Another fine production as always! ~ mphsVinylJim & the Mrs
Hey Seqouia, fantastic video!! Especially those Environments vinyl. Please when you get a chance gimme a shout. I'd love to ask you some questions about them. Bless
@TheZeekgeek1 Thanks my man! Sometimes I will buy something just because it looks interesting. Sometimes it is killer, sometimes it is shit! Buddah is definitely a safe bet In my book. Be adventurous yourself zeek!
killer shirt man. I can't believe you found that Getz/Byrd lp at the Goodwill. I should have gone crate digging today instead of cleaning the house. Cleaning sucks. I never buy Benny Goodman but I would have bought that one because of the obvious quality. You are crazy adventurous with what you pick up but you stumble onto some great stuff. I love Eddie Palmieri! Latin Jazz is the shit, son. I love Buddah Records. I usually buy whatever I find on Buddah. You could definitely rock those pants.
@TheZeekgeek1 Buddah is killer. The fact that Brooklyn Bridge was on the label...wow. We sadly lost Johnny Maestro a year or two ago. But, yes, he was a king of both Doo Wop and Bubblegum 60s. love that samba music, you can't go wrong. wow, love benny goodman! my mouth fell open when you showed the les brown album; i know nothing about the label but music is the bomb. love that shit!! i had that yellowjackets, great stuff. david, you didn't know, we dug stripped pants back in those days. i don't know why. i even had some! great video.
Actually that 'milestones' record you have is from 58, so even older than that getz lp. I find it interesting how well you get to know people's collections based on these videos, aha. Great finds, love your videos.
That's a good Getz one...Samba is fantastic. Eddie! Fuck it man...I'm going out right now to get you some more JAZZ! Excellent finds. I dig the pants.
