@lealowo he wasnt a cheat. theres a reasonable explanation for all of his incidents and no driver goes througha career without any. his are just made to look worse because hes the most succesful driver of all time.
@nitrox150 The triple element wings were tried by a number of teams to the best of my knowledge throughout the early 90's. Of course, like every great innovation, the FIA subsequently banned them on safety grounds.
@AirCrashMayday Insider politics and big money meant he couldn't keep him, big teams rule over the smaller teams in F1 when it comes to the best drivers.
His smiling wrinkle was already there when he was young :]. He would have won the world championship straight away in his debut season if he joined the front running teams.
as usually, some senna´s fans are getting mad here with all their blind support to senna.
hakkinen beated senna in his first race in mclaren, in qualifying and also in the race. and in the following race, hakkinen was only 0,1 sec behind senna in qualifying, when hakkinen had not yet a big experience...
senna was not so extremely fast as some blind fans would like him to be.
and schumacher is better than hakkinen , so... schumacher would have destroyed senna with the same car...
Hakkinen outqualifies Senna (who is known as the fastest qualifying driver in F1 history) once and this makes him a better driver? Wow, please don't even talk about blind support.
Hunt 2727 If my memory is correct, Mika crashed out in his first race for Mclaren which was I think estoril in 93. Also if my memory serves me right, Mika was their test driver that yr. Senna was unmotivated in 93.
Actually Häkkinen was the first candidate to pair up Alain Prost at Williams 1993 but the current Lotus chief Peter Collins disrupted the deal so Mika could only get a test drivers' seat from McLaren. Hill had even less experience and still finished 3rd in the championship so what would have happened if Mika would have drive the Williams '93... Maybe we could have had the Mika-Michael rivarly earlier in the 90's...
I admire Prost as a great driver the same I admire Senna.
But I think in 1993 Prost returned slower than he used to be. Hakkinen could have beated Prost if Mika had driven a Williams in 93, I´m not 100% sure but maybe... Prost and Senna were Gods, but no more than Schumacher. After 1993, both Prost and Senna would have been beated easyer and easyer by Schumacher, and maybe even by Hakkinen the same Nigel Mansell was beated in 1994 and 1995.
I'm a stupid Schumi fanboy - though that sounds a bit fruity - and I don't think Button will ever miraculously become what Schumacher was.
The comparison is between a man who had an almost superhuman mixture of car control, resilience, intelligence, political nous, will, force of personality and ability to take a dog of a car and develop it into something world beating; and Jenson Button, who, while a good driver, has none of these qualities I've mentioned to anywhere near the same degree.
d if you made proper research you will find that Gerhard Berger was one of the very quickest drivers.Probably not many of you know that when they were team mates at Ferrari in 1989 Berger out-qualified Mansell 8-7!!! Berger was also closer in relation to Senna than Prost was.I bet you didn't know that either!also according to Barrichello Schumacher did not want Berger as his team mate because he was scared of him.
Indeed one of the best looking cars on the grid that year. Great, great upload. I have uploaded qualifying from Imola 94 if anyone's interested. Nice job :-)
I don't quite get the arguement going on here, but fwiw the Jordan 191 is one of my favourites, for the following reasons:
1/ The colours and design ... visual
2/ It moved Jordan up to fifth in the rankings after the first season - unprecedented for a newcomer team
Jordan hung on where many others - like Stewart and Arrows - couldn't survive. So yes, performance was shitty through much of the 1990's, but as an outfit I have nothing but admiration for them.
I didnt say it was the best car I said it was an excellent car and rated as the 2nd best handling car of all. Even shitty deCesaris nearly won a race in it - so Schumi's 7th in quali isnt fantastic - good but nothing special.
yeah, not too good for his first qualie, race. And oh, by the way, his next year 92, he beat ALL the ex and soon to be champs. In one year. Of course, when Senna was in the Honda/McLaren, it wasn't the best car
I agree - it is a good achievement. But not sensational. (DeCesaris was over the hil and Schu had a lot of experience already in high power sports cars. If he'd come straight from low powered F3 cars it would be sensational.
None the less - yes it was a very good achievement.
Schumi comes in around 5 to 10 of all time according to most experts, including me. Senna Prost Fangio Clark were all clearly better. And probably Villeneuve Mansell Stewart Lauda were too. (Schui just did more races than any of them and FAR more often had the best car - so you should ignore his meaningless stats like all experts do.)
No - it was described as "the best handling car bar the Williams" by some journalists based on what they'd been told by non-Williams drivers who followed behind the Jordan and all the other cars. %th in the point swas just because it was their 1st season and they were still learning the game - but the car was awesome - i repeat that DeCesaris almost WON the race that Schui quali'd 7th in - and DeCesaris won SERO - 0 - races in 208 attempts. The Jordan was a front running car at times - eg Spa 91
so all the experts are wrong, but you are right huh? You want to talk about Senna and what a dirty driver he could be? What is your point? That Schumacher always had the best ride so he cruised to his victories? That he had no hand in developement? Ask Ross Braun. Wether you like him or not, you have to say that Schumacher is one of the best ever. So what's your beef? Cuz' he's German? Don't like Gerry's eh mate?
1. I am of part German decent - I dont give a fig about race or nationalism - just fair play, and Schuki has privileges and advantages no other driver in history had. - the best car FAR more often than anyone else, and team-orders on top of that preventing even his team-mates challenging him - pissweak!
Re. development - go ask his own brother who said, just in 2007 "The truth is the drivers have very little to do with the cars development." Engineers DO! Its just a myth among ignorant noobs!
Do you know that Senna insisted that he got Prost's set up? Or is that a bit of history that you tend to overlook? And what team orders, other than the occasional win by Rubens? Who else? Johnny Herbert? nah. Eddie fucking Irvine ( who Michael helped set up his car-fact)? There have been countless interviews with Ross Braun, Jon Todt, etc. who have said they have never seen more of a hands on driver, who debriefs, gives technical feedback, with his teamn than Schumi.
That jordan was so good - his team-mate DeCesaris nearly won the race in it! In the next race DeCesaris was again in the top 6. And DeCesaris was SHIT!. So the Jordan was probably the best car in F1! (Other drivers who folowed it said it handled better than all other cars except the brilliant Williams)
Just another British idiot I suppose. I mean, you don't have to like Schumacher (I'm German myself and I can't stand him), but denying he was an absolutely outstanding driver will just prove one thing: that you dont have a clue concerning F1.
Senna Prost Fangio Clark were all clearly better. And probably Villeneuve Mansell Stewart Lauda were too. (Schui just did more races than any of them and FAR more often had the best car - so you should ignore his meaningless stats like all experts do.)
I also think so! And the way Michael drove it in qualifying is amazing! He was near a second faster than De Cesaris, for whom it was his 160th GP start!!!
Heh, kinda funny to hear Schumi talk before he got a lot better at English. Compare this to, say, one of the press conferences he does now. BIG difference!

Yes, extreme Senna fanatics are annoying (ALL "blind" fans are!) , but I dont think Schumacher would trash Senna if they were in the same car!
I think the end result would be fairly equal over time!
Who would be best, and in which season, would be decided which car would suits them best that particular year!
They were both super talented and committed to an almost extreme degree, but had different driving styles!
Just the way they used the throttle was completely different!

The only time Schui had an inferior car to Senna was the last 6 races of 91!
In 92 Senna's McLaren was the worst he ever had.
In 93, Schumi had the factory Ford and Senna the customer Ford.
In 94, the Williams was a shitbucket until the second half of the year (after Senna was gone).
And still in all this time - 41 GP, (a full quarter of Senna's career) - Schui couldn't get a single pole while Senna got 9!
