It seems from the video footage I have seen, there was no "Official" leadership for the protest. It seems like just a mob protest.

I find this footage distressing. Well-meaning people are getting hurt. I am deeply, personally, and adamantly opposed to the war and this government's international policies. What I want to say is that there are much more effective and honest ways to express that opposition. For example, writing articles, voting, making financial contributions to lobbyists and setting a personal example of empathy, compassion and acceptance.

I completely agree with you. Protests are not the way to get what you want. All you are doing is trying to force love and peace upon people, and that pisses them off. Expressing yourself through good communication with the people around you in your daily lives is how you can influence everyone. It is the dominoe effect. Take your dream for peace, help people around you understand it, and leave the rest to them. If you speak, people will listen.
