  • @SampritB I am sorry to say,Sir,that that is beside the point. As I wasn't saying no one should ride bicycles,I was saying that when they do-even if I don't-I can still be harmed. It's not all about the safty of the cyclist.

People are still going to ride bikes, whether we want them to or not anyhow. It's just safer for THEM if they wear saftey equipment.Which doesn't neccessarily protect me-someone who could be hit by a bicycle.Or in the case of the metaphor, perhaps the child that is being formed?

  • You're cute.

  • Great video, I love it and agree.

BUT..... You said one thing that bothers me. "One hundred percent of bicycle injuries can be easily avoided by never getting on a bike." That is not true. If I'm walking and a bicyclist runs into me, I'm still harmed. That is technically considered a bicycle injury, is it not?

Sorry, like I said, that was bothering me, lol.

  • @JaylaCucu If nobody rode bikes how could you be hit by one?

  • i had no idea that the sexual education in the us had not changed at all! even at my big-on-traditions catholic high-school, they taught us decent sex-ed......but i live in montreal

  • This is one of your best videos ever! You are so spot on regarding sexual eduction. My shcool taught it like it was an evil practice that would kill you and land you in hell..

  • I'm not sure if all adolescents partake in sexual activity out of an act of love, I believe that it is a sexual urge that needs gratification. I was taught abstinence due to my religion; making love should be an act between husband and wife. I think partaking in sexual activities should be a decision that one should make in a mature frame of mind. If people are willing to make that decision to have sex, they're willing to be accountable for the consequences of their actions.

  • you should be a freakin lawyer!!

  • So many jump cuts. AH.

  • Ummmmmm condoms and birth control does not protect against STD's...

  • This actually helped me alot when I was writing a paper on sexual education. So thanks for that.

  • You're acting as if all teen sex is an expression of love. But its not. Its an expression of sexual urges. To call that "love" is dishonest. Basically agree with the rest of the video.

  • Question: were you ever in Speech, Debate and Drama when you were in highschool?

  • @theGreenPrincess16 i was notttt. but i have always been really into politics. =]

    rawrawr

  • @BananaNeil

well you would have been kickass at debate ;)

  • Great .........

  • oh god it was difficult keeping up with you! you talk way to fast... or im just stupid..

  • Damn! You are one smart kid!!

  • A small, twisted part of me wanted Canada to have abstinence-only education.. only so I could fight against it. Also, am I the only one that thinks they should quit showing us the photos of infected genitals? Are we so dumb that we need to witness something horrific before we can learn not to do something stupid? It kinda debases sex to see it gone wrong.

  • How old are you? REALLY !! You look soooo much younger than you talk.

  • If that is the case Slim, I am looking forward to reading your paper.

  • u used big words... haha jk i totally understand and agree with u.

  • this is dumb because in my school they taught about condoms and birth control and showed us how to put condoms on and told us how birth control works and good birth control thats got higher success rates and they taught everything you needed to know yet guys still got herpes and girls were getting pregnant up the wazoo and it was a class everyone took as a freshman anyway who doesnt look things up online

  • im glad my sex education never talked about abstinence :D

or at least barely mentioned it :P

    (go canada!)

  • I agree with your position and take it a step further. Conservatives (abstinence only fools) complain about the educational system brainwashing children. The fact is abstinence only is just that. When you take geometry, the teacher does not say a circle is 360 degrees, but it would be better and easier for you if we just call it 300. In science they do not teach that gravity is a suggestion.

Presenting the facts should be the goal with sex, drugs, alcohol, and anything else.

  • i am from central europe and the only sex education i've ever received was in 3rd grade (elementary) on how a woman becomes pregnant. i really had no idea what the teacher was talking about.

  • @TheETAVIRP <3 wellll thank you =]

lol, i did put a lott of effort into it and things.

    rawr

  • Politics != science. Politics = uninformed beliefs about reality. That's why parents have the ultimate responsibility for protecting their child's welfare. Unfortunately, the cycle tends to be perpetual - young, uninformed pregnancy comes from young, uniformed people, who then produce more young, uniformed offspring, who produce more young, uniformed offspring. And, yikes, these people get to vote for their politicians!

  • The amount of jump-cuts in this makes me anxious.

Anyways, I really could not agree with you more.

We had a week dedicated to sex ed in my freshman health class.

And I don't remember ever talking about sex.

  • i am in love with the way you said goodmorning children(: it was all inosent nd such. lol

  • okay who was your secret crush in HS? oh wait you can't say cause then it woudln't be a secret. lol. OKay who are you embrassed to say you had a poster of on your wall?

    take care.

    Carlos

  • Well said. rawr.

  • LOVE it. Brilliant.

  • sex is an selfish endeavor. people utilize it to manipulate the people they have it with. the problem is, when someone is young, their desire prevents them from seeing the manipulation that is transpiring, for the man or the woman, or whatever coupling commences. i am in no way a no sex advocate, but avoiding certain situations can go a long way to waiting for the proper moment when you realize, i didn't miss out, and neither did she( or he ).

  • we got put condoms on bananas at my school, when the teacher said "and what do we do now?" a girl said "stick it in!" Don't forget to pinch the tip ya'll.

  • You are so great. I totally agree!

  • Neil, this is an amazingly good video...your argument is so well-thought out and presented. As a former teacher, I think your proposed comprehensive approach towards educating teens on this subject is right on the money. Unfortunately, that kind of approach, which is uplifting and NOT demoralizing, is too often in short supply. So, great job...and I would have given your paper an "A"! :)

  • i completely agree. i remember how ashamed i felt then, even the education here needs to change. private schools here dont even get any education about sex.

  • i actually really enjoyed this video. usually with you serious videos im usually liek whatever he makes a valid point but i enjoyed this video as i would any other video of yours. well done but next time can you talk a little slower?

  • You're a lion and this video proves it.

  • As the US is a fairly repressed society when it comes to the expression of human sexuality, it's no surprise that trying to cause shame and guilt about sex in teenagers (and society as a whole), is fully in keeping with the American value system. Sad but true.

    Another great video, BananaNeil!

  • Isn't "abstinence-only education" oxymoronic? At the very least is moronic. You get an A+... from me anyway.

  • @FranticGra haha, i hope thats the way my professor grades =]

  • @EqualAndFree hahahahahah =]

I think we should start a new campaign "GOD HATES CYCLISTS!"

there could be t-shirts and everthigng!

  • I agree!! There is SO MUCH that needs to be changed in sex ed in schools today! I went to a private christian school and didn't even have a sex ed class. Though we did have a very open science teacher who gave us a chance to ask her questions (even a few ridiculous ones) about sex, and she gave us very honest, helpful answers. I definitely think another big part about sex ed that gets left out is the emotional and relationship part of sex. That can screw a kid up as much as a STI or pregnancy!

  • This whole video confused me. But that's probably cause i've never been this tired.

I enjoyed looking at your face expressions tho hehe.. <3

  • You make too many cuts in the video.

It became less and less about the subject and more about watching you hop from one place to another 0_0

  • You couldn't be more right.

  • I definitely agree with you're argument but did anyone else notice he kept saying sti's and not std's?? simple mistake but it was just bugging me

  • @EqualAndFree I'd take a step further and suggest that society needs institutions to prepare parents and families do the work of raising up children and students holistically. Education doesn't just happen between 6AM and 3PM. Parent's are responsible to teach and train their kids - and yeah, there will be differences in the ways parent's raise their kids, and I won't agree with the way you do it, etc - but I think that's how we're designed - to be constant learners in families

  • @EqualAndFree I wasn't making the argument for abstinence only education. Sorry for not being clearer. What I will make the argument for though, is that the educaiton system is woefully under-prepared to do total person education - including sexual eduction, moral, religious/spiritual, ethical, philosophical - and until we recognize this then while we may prevent the teen preggers, we're still not going to deal with, as Neil suggests, creating whole healthy people

  • I grew up in the abstienence only group with no really other education. I regret it. Never was told about stds, never told about pregnancy any of those things I ended up with hpv. I could have gotten alot worse and be dead now. I never knew I had to find out things myself i felt dirty about sex for a long time b.c of this I believe that the same ppl who are pushing this are pushing waiting to marry till your done with college which is past this crazy hormone age ..blah brilliant people brilliant

  • You are very smart, just sayin. I learned what I know from the internet. fuck school, they just said, heres the penis it goes in vagina, don't do it.

  • Haha sex it's like riding a bike... If you fall off it's gonna hurt somewhere

  • Fantasitc vlog Neal!!! Well said and very affective. I can't praise you enough for using your popularity on here to educate your younger viewers...and more so for promoting tolerance and decency and the right for love equality for all people.

  • Nicely done. I completely agree if alot of teens and even preteens were educated on basically every aspect of sex the rate of teen prego and sti's would be way low. Btw you are sooo f-ing cute!!!!

  • Very well done Neil. What did you get for a grade?

  • fantastic! I couldn't agree more. as an Australian I received comprehensive sex education in year 7. Contreception and STD awareness were a big part of the class. Honestly I think it should be pretty clear by now that teens are going to have sex eventually anyway regardless of how much they drum abstinence only principles into them. Sex is going to happen so the least they can do is let us know the facts from reliable sources who don't tell us we're dirty and immoral.

  • I think you've stated your case very well. And I agree - abstinence-only is a farce. On the other hand, I wouldn't be *so* quick to embrace the FDA's statistics either, since it has its own shady history.

  • I agree with everything that you have just said. Completely. Especially the point you made about not ignoring the need to educate students about both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. America needs to wake up and have safe sex practices taught in ALL health classes in EVERY school.

And I just have to say: Neil for President.

  • agreed

  • Alot of big words and confusioness but good points.

  • Not only is your intelligence out of the question, but also many well and expensive dressed and highly paid lawyers could not reach such a master demonstration of what a qualified reasoning around real facts of life you have given. Sounds to me like some basic wisdom spoke through you while it remains hidden from clarity behind the unreasoning of others. Best point.

  • quickly skimming the video title i could have sworn it said fisting abstinence. WOW IM NOT CLEAN IN THE MIND :)

  • I completely agree with you on this, Neil.

I mean, I had a pretty good sex education at my school and you don't see me just going out having wild, crazy sex with a whole bunch of guys. And even if I DID decide to, I would know what to do. Abstinence-only education seems like more of an un-education, if that makes any sense. It's really just making it so that the same people who would've had sex anyway are just going to go about the situation the wrong way. Which is completely counterproductive.

  • Of course I subscribed because of your pretty face. And because you're funny. Now it seems you're not just another pretty face. You've actually got something to say. Something intelligent. And you say it well. Very well.

I so do hope someone is listening.

PS: don't stop making funny videos.

  • @Euryponx awee, well i do what i cann =]

  • I agree, abinstinence only education is very close minded. Shaming does more harm than good. Great arguments you have here.

  • I did a paper on this last year. Have you heard of O.W.L. its a sex education program my church does that is completely comprehensive like you mentioned... UNITARIANS FTW!!!!!!

  • @doubleMdoubleL lol. yeahhh, some body else mentioned thattt.

I wrote about a program called youth first.. that seemed like it was something similar.

  • Why can't they just prepare students rather than scare them?

I think some sexual education curriculum prepares the students on what to do..

When I was in High School, it was more to scare us... and to be honest, they neglected certain information. When it came to having sexual relations with someone (well the first time it happened), I ended up being anxious and uncomfortable about the experience.

  • @theaussieninja yes yes yes, exactlyyy what i went through. =]

  • @BananaNeil do you feel just as anxious and uncomfortable about having sex too?

  • i have so much to say about this but im on my way out the door to see jaybrannan in hollywood i will make a video response as soon as i have time tomorrow be prepared for an ear full

  • @marilyndarlingshow i'm excitedddd to see it. =]

    lol

  • @nikkiskippy98 haha, exactlyyy.

that is amazing that she dressed in a banana, that made me laugh soo much =]

but when i first started reading your comment, i thought you said "i had really awesome sex with a teacher" hahahaha

  • @BananaNeil

I seriously read "i had really awesome sex with a teacher" too lol.

  • Is having sex always done out of LOVE? How often is it just about 2 horny, non-committed kids doing it, wrecklessly or not, simply because they can? Sex among teens happens for many reasons, and realistically, as so much has to do with peer pressure, i'd submit that it's not done as often as one might hope as an expression of pure love. (i do like your vids Neil) Your numbers may hold up, but teens have a lot to learn, and many live wrecklessly. It's usually not love that motivates teen sex.

  • @silvershots3 I wouldn't disagree. but regardless of what they are taught, its going to happen. so lets teach them to protect them selves.

  • I do not agree completely Neill: I have nothing against sexual education, unless it teaches also non-contraceptive methods. THAT means being unbiased.

I also do not agree with some of yours arguments, but there´s no point of pointing them out, since you never want to discuss them.

  • @Tarhiel ignorance kills.it isn't bliss.

  • @borisgoodenough1988 True, true...

  • @Tarhiel its not that i would never want to discuss them. feel free to let me know what you believe. thats why youtube is soooo great.. lots of people from different backgrounds are all here collaborating together.

but comprehensive education by definition is fully inclusive education, about abstinence and contraception. i just want kids to have education about contraception, because it wouldddd help.

  • @BananaNeil If that´s the case, I have no problem with that.

  • i'd give you an A+ if i were your teacher. but maybe i'm a little biased. :)

  • @justlikeally haha, ohhh just a little. =]

    I did come out with a 97%

    so yay me!

  • @BananaNeil oh good job!! very nice. :)

  • Sex education in the USA sounds fucked up. In Sweden we learn all of the things you said (like relationships, sexual abuse, openness, how to enjoy intimacy and so on) from about maybe the age of 12 and up.

  • @TheOrangeDream yeahhh, i actually ended up cutting out the bit of my paper that talked about how sweden has an incredible comprehensive program andddd the lowest birth rates in the world.

  • @BananaNeil Oh, really? We have? I didn't know this! Thanks for sharing. :)

  • @TheOrangeDream yes yes yes, well... you also have fairly high abortion rates. and that was why i ended up cutting it out. lol.

but not to say that is a bad thing by any means. i would much rather see teen girls get abortions than have kids they can't take care of. so, go sweeden!

  • @BananaNeil Haha, right. xD

Well, there's pros and cons to both sides. :)

  • Comment removed

  • You made a great point, love your videos. Peace

  • @choro1981 i'm sooo glad you like them <3

  • great video. we have comprehensive education in our school, we learn all of the things that you said we SHOULD learn (like sex, contraception, abuse, sti's, etc.) and I really do think that it makes a difference. way to get the word out there!

  • @OMGitsLucy814 thattt is whatttt i do =]

    rawr

  • PREACH ON. Abstinence-only sex-ed is horribly wrong.

  • @JollyGreen303 agreeeeed =]

  • word.

Abstinence only education is a giant crock of bull.

    Neil for world ruler. =D

  • @WTFROSE hahahah. YES! =]

  • Neil = very smart young man.... this vid should be part of every jr hi program

  • @douge29 haha, well thank you, i'm glad you liked it.

    rawrawr

  • Neil, YOu are my favorite person in the world i feel like i could be your brother My feeling is that you come from a supporitive, loving family because you are one of the most intellegent, loving supportive person I have seen in a long time i feel that whoever you choose as a partner , they will have won the relationship jackpot Stay well

  • @LMalizia aweee <3

    well thank you.

i suppose my family did a pretty good job, but i think a lot of it was that my parents always wanted me to believe what i wanted no matter what it was. and i wish more parents did that.

  • You did such a great job on this video and the paper; I am so proud. Know that I agree with all the points that you make. We, as a society, can no longer continue on our current course. There is nothing I enjoy more than watching one of the hottest, intelligent guys on YouTube passionately argue his viewpoints. :D Rawr!

  • @thegreatcomposer haha, thank you so much. i'm sooo glad you enjoyed this video. <3

    =]

    rawrawrawr

  • I dreamed about you the other day.

We were watching Oprah on TV.

And I realized you only came to steal my puppy...

    Are you creeped out yet?

  • @icecreamcakeandpiex hahaha, that is amazingggg =]

i'm soo glad you were thinking about me in your sleep.. ?

  • @EqualAndFree I think though, that there's an order of magnitude difference, which is one weakness in Neil's argument. He doesn't address the pyschosomatic affects of sexuality that make it an issue of greater import then that of bike riding - the physical danger in bike riding included.

  • Where I come from abstinence-only education has never been taught (at least not to my knowledge) so I naturally think it's stupid. I think STD aren't very common here and I've never heard about teen pregnancy being much of a problem. So I think this is working for us.

But I have heard that we might be expecting an epidemic in STDs because the price of contracaptives is so riddikulusly high.

  • @LucyTree yeahhh, that is a huge problem. one of the things i talk about in my paper is that we need to make contraception more available to students. =]

  • Slim I was agreeing with most of what you said up until you called someone an idiot. Even though I'm pretty sure the FDA is the one telling the truth about this, I'm also pretty sure they lie about most other stuff. What different needs do gay students have that are being ignored???

    .

You get a FIVE star thumbs up for your door hinge.

  • @tripthe1 haha, i would recomend you actually read the paper.

there is a link in the description.

I dont call him an idiot in the paper, and i also talk about gay kids and stuffs =]

  • At my school, which I love, they hired a nutritionist my year freshman year to teach sex -ed, and there was one comment that that stuck with me. "Women don't even feel it when they have sex. So what's the point?" This is coming from a married woman. I feel a bit bad for laughing.

The year before I did take a "sex-ed" course called OWL (Our Whole Lives). It is given at many levels and to all age groups, and covers a large number of topics besides sex. Look into it. I feel you'll enjoy it.

    RAWR

  • @RAWRimathesaurus hahahaha, thats terrrible. =]

i wrote about a program like that, called Youth First

if you want, you can see what i wrote, there is a link in the description.

    rawrawr

  • As usual, you say the things I think.

  • @Maddoxhardcore that is what i am here for my love. =]

  • It's the religious-right bunch pushing this stuff on the rest of us. So much for separation of church and state. I call them the "Christian Taliban."

  • @ProFriend i talkkkk a lot about that in my paper, you should read it =]

    Linkss in the descriptionn.

  • @BananaNeil I've skimmed your paper - out of curiousity, what sort of grade did it receive, and what sort of comments did the teacher make?

  • Well stated. While abstinence is a sure fire way of avoiding pregnancy and in some cases STD's (depending on one's definition of abstinence - i.e. the "I did not ave sex with that woman argument), for most people it is totally unrealistic). Have to wonder if the proponents of ab-only have totally forgotten what it is like to be young and hormonal. Better to teach "respect and respnsibility" education - both in terms of self and others.

  • @timtim66 sara goff's article really talks about this concept.

I was trying to fit it in my paper, but was unable to find a place. =]

  • sex doesn't equal bike riding .... or at least I hope it doesn't because I should buy my bike dinner

  • Very valid points, I only hope that you got an A+

  • @jiraya350 i hopee i get one too. =]

i wont find out for a few more days.

    rawr

  • I agree wholeheartedly.

  • @HelloTwist welll, i'm gladd =]

    rawr

  • Those who insist upon abstinence only live in an alternate reality that is quite separate from the world in which we live. Unfortunately they live, sleep and eat their religion which encourages them to become very well politically organized. As to the discrepancy among failure rates for condoms perhaps the 20% figure came from studies involving those who didn't know how to use them properly for the very reason that were denied comprehensive sex ed in school. Just sayin'

  • @Peter777t yeahhhh, thats exactly what i thought about the 20%

in fact, i remember reading the statistic with an asterisk and at the bottom of the page it said that it includes kids who don't know how to use them properaly.

soooo anoying, you would think they would try to teach people how to use them properly. lol.

  • i ride a tricycle...does that count? Sounds like you had a very good term paper and i hope you got an A on it.

  • @wildmanwesva i think tricycles are a lot like second base. its a lot safer, but not nearly as much fun. =]

  • if bible-thumpers only understood and accepted REALITY as you very plainly and eloquently put it

  • @borisgoodenough1988 veryyyy true =]

  • Neil!

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?

  • @dresskid sex ed =]

    whatttt are you talking about?

  • ohh if my classes were like this.

    <3

  • @ingriddynamite hahaha i'm thinking i might do some math teaching at a college when ever i get my PhD thing, you should come take the courses, ehh?

  • @BananaNeil Dr. Neil has a nice ring to it; if you ever offer an on-line course in Vector Calculus I'm in =]

  • That was great! You are a very smart guy! That must come from being a lion, eh?

Abstinence only education floors me. It seems to me that this type of thinking is by people who are far removed from the reality of being a teenager. Or even the reality of being a sexual person no matter what the age.

In fact the whole idea of abstinence until marriage puzzles me. Shouldn't a couple be sexually compatible as well as emotionally and spiritually compatible?

    Anyway...great video.

  • @brentbraniff you should read sara goff's paper.

i got the title wrong in the video. its actually called

"advocates of abstinence-only education programs are hypocrites"

I think... lol. you should read it any ways =]

  • its so easy to watch u because u are a great talker, and attractive :)

  • @ConsiderMeGuru wellll, i do waht i cannn =]

even for upwards of six minutes. haha

  • A VIDEO FROM BANANANEIL??!? Today is a good day.

  • @Bobalicos111 haha, wellll saturday will be a good day too =]

    rawrawrawr

  • @BananaNeil Hell. Yes. ;-)

  • Catholic school just says dont have sex lol

  • @xDr4kxKILLERx "Catholic school just says dont have sex lol"

That's the reason, why children thought it wasn't sex, but a religious exercise, when they were raped by priests in Germany. They were told they only would go to heaven, if they stricly follow the orders of the priest and keep quiet about the 'exercise'. :(

  • @ab0kanal sorry for that but i am not Catholic but i am christan

  • @xDr4kxKILLERx No need to say sorry. My comment wasn't directed to you actually. You just happend to give me the key word "catholic school", which made me remember the fact I mentioned (it was in the media here a few weeks ago). :)

  • @ab0kanal ok i got it now

  • you're so sexy. its a serious video I know, but I was drooling the whole time :P

  • @cardwellave hahaha, was me talking about sex helping that cause at all?

  • I wish half the adults were half as wise as you are. This includes the entire previous administration.

  • @watertower12 haha, meee tooo =]

    rawrwarawr <3

  • nice video Neil :-)

  • @palace486 I'm a lion. =]

  • Are you making videos about sex because Laci is doing them :P

  • @kjth2003 lol. that was nottt the motivationnnn. but i actually wrote this paper because she made a video about it a longgg time ago =]

  • what if your hit by somone on a bike?

you said it would be against their human rights, ok the group that were abs' schooled only could sue the people who did that study then lol, unethical study.

the abstinence education arguements have gone on for ages, but i dont know of any schools nor have i met anyone who was educated that way to my knowledge, so its a bit ... eh??

  • @tobiosnmakky welllllll I was educated that way. O_o

and i'm nottt sure how unethical the study was. you can read the report if you wantttt, my biblography at the bottom of my paper (link in description) should point you in the right direciton.

  • i agree with you good vid. so neil its my birthday day you should do a bolg tv or you should txt me or something for my bday it would make my day

  • @dwr0615 awee, sorry i got this commet latee!

    happpyyyy lateee birthdayyyy =]

  • Great vid, long but informative!

BTW, how did you do on your paper?

  • @kwk1 nottt sure yet, i should get grades back this friday =]

  • i really liked this neil well done dude...... and i am a kangaroo boing boing boing!!!!!!!

  • @paulytheaussie veryyy interesting. do kangaroos make sounds other than boing boing boing? O_o

regardless, i would agree. you are defiantly a kangaroo.

  • @BananaNeil kangaroos kinda make a tisk tisk tisk noise when they want to but its not a very loud noise for the most part there mute but going boing boing boing sounds so like fun lol ide love you to do a kangaroo impersination in one of your vids lol
