Neat coloring well all I have to say is I hope you provide your sloth with a jungle gym, or something to climb and hang from. Sloths are by nature designed to be in trees they're arbreal.
Apparently in the wild they have an area they use as a toilet...never thought of them as suitable 'pets' though. But then people keep stinky little ferrets with fangs - sloths are much more house friendly.
Wow i thought this sloth had on baby PJ's b4 i read everyone's comments...i dont see how this pattern would be effective in the wild, but then again tigers make it work...This Sloth gets 5 stars
Ugh! That was painful to watch. He's sooo cute but after like, 3 minutes I was ready to scream & was hoping he'd just picked up and put wherever it was he wanted to go. :)
:( My problem is that in California it's illegal to keep a sloth, but ironically if you have the space, and the money for a license and upkeep you can buy a dangerous animal such as a lion, tiger, or chimpanzee.
.I guess our laws are screwy and hypocritical. Recently California tried to pass a soda tax, but I've never heard such a thing being proposed for alcohol and firearms though we have so many DUI's and also people getting killed by guns.
The markings on her are amazing. I'm presuming that you are looking after her temporarily, rather than that you own her as a pet. I find it hard to believe anyone would keep a sloth as a pet (assuming they could get hold of one), as they grow really large, right?
A sloth, in the wild, mostly sleeps and dangles about. The have little energy as they eat the least nutritious food in the world. They do not run, jump, and play - living indoors does not inhbit their lifestyle. It protects them from predators and cars and offers them companionship and a much more fufilling diet. Cats and dogs need room to run and have a much stronger desire to be outside and around their own kind. Keeping a sloth is much less cruel.
Oh yes this is so cruel to give a sloth a home with food and protection. Well, jeez, you better let it back out into the wild, I bet it misses almost getting hit by cars all the time.
how the hell is it cruel? Its natural habbitat is in a tree....this real looks like hes living in a tree you idiot. Just because foxes cross roads and arnt the top predator, doesnt mean we should keep them in captivity.
Actually, your right but because she was injured she would not be able to survive out in the wild until she is rehabilitated.
If a kid gets in a car accident should we just let him out of the hospital to fend for himself or should we help him?
All of the animals in this sanctuary have been rescued. I'm sure they let her outside frequently. You people act like these people are keeping them as pets or something! They are helping them!
Lucia is extremely adorable. I'm glad she's happy in her indoor/outdoor lifestyle, but understand why anyone would object to all these animals not having their natural habitats to live in. Glad Lucia is safe and happy.
Please tell me that this isn't being kept as a pet. I worked for over a month looking after injured and baby sloths, and the only "happy" in-door sloth I ever met had a hanging basket and indoor garden to herself.
@scotchbox well i believe we should keep them as pets or in wildlife nature watchers because they cant really care for themselves hunters will think its something else they cant protect themselves and they have a very hard time crossign a road these ened to be well kept for with animal experts i believe so...

With that beautiful coat she's probably lucky to be protected. She couldn't camouflage very well and would be at risk from predators.

@Malapterus Sloths are not slow because of an energy-deficient diet. You think feeding them sport drinks and chocolate bars will speed them up?
