  • Is that Thurston Moore speaking at the start?

  • @jofaol Indeed he is!

  • @jofaol yes.

  • The guy just answers his own question at the beginning, it's just one guy talking. Kinda ruined that part for me when I realized that.

  • Just found about this band and very glad. Cheers for the upload.

  • Is that Thurston Moore?

  • @nobodythe7th

sounds like thurston to me, too...he has used the phrase "youth culture" repeatedly over the years....

  • Youth is destroying youth culture. Amazing track though

  • @XeeGen yeah and there's a lot of old rich dudes who want to help us destroy ourselves...but yes good song

  • @XeeGen Ultimately, We control the music industry and people tend to forget that.

  • Who is the guy speaking in the beginning of the song?

  • @Unianimals @apleseed91 - it's thurston moore from sonic youth i think

im glad some people had some intellectual debate about politics without swearing or trolling or calling each other twelve...

speaks volumes of the song i suppose :)

  • This song... it makes me feel all bubbly inside. 8D <3

  • @Anonykip444

Capitalism is merely the system where means of production is owned privately and operated for a profit. The effects of capitalism are at times detrimental such as cronyism but when you look at the in practice effects of a mercantalist system or a socialist system you'll see that capitalism is at present the best we've got.

What the quote at the beginning probably refers to the sell out process and how youth culture becomes lost when it becomes an endeavour of big business.

  • YAY! sonic youth 1991 the year punk broke reference! but i don't like the new danc-y radio dept... i suppose every new indie band has to do that. like tokyo police club. those canadian bastards. at least Broken Social Scene is doing alright.

  • @unit731christ agreed this music sucks.

  • Loving this. Would be 100 times cooler if they had a drummer though.

  • this song should not be only 3 and a half minutes. it should be eternal, at least.

  • i listen to this song and feel the Happiness and it all good

  • love this tune makes me want to move

  • I'm yet to find a bad radio dept. song

  • SASQUATCH!!!!

  • COACHELLAAAAAAAAAAA

  • "Bogus capitalist process"? I mean come on: grow up

  • One m0:00re Time!!!!!!!!!!

  • now, this is ......music .....

  • Great song, but the beginning is retarded. Please subtract that portion of it, and I can give the song a solid thumbs up. Thanks!

  • @14534 are you fucking kidding? explain to me how it was retarded...

  • @perryrocks666 its just typical prepubescent anti-system rhetoric that appeals to the kids in high school with anarchy 'A's on their door whose parents are usually investment bankers or something. Its just an immature aspect of it. Other than that, awesome song

  • @14534 Okay, first off, semantics, prepubescent kids aren't in high school, you're a few years off. Secondly, capitalizing on youth culture is bullshit, we don't need to be inundating kids with materialistic desires, let them experience something that hasn't been bastardized by some business' bottom line.

  • @Anonykip444 actually the high schoolers have become prepubescent as their maturity levels have receded. Capitalism pervades all aspects of society: sports, politics, industry, religion, etc. Its high time teenagers grew up and accepted this. Instead, they're stuck in their rebellious stage and end up being losers in life. I guess the hope of the world now rests with women (who have a much higher maturity level than these dunces) and with China (hardworking people). Not selfish teen idiots

  • @14534 That is an incredible generalization about the American youth, I'd like to see where you got that information from. Capitalism is most definitely not taught in major religions, the tenets in mainstream religions preach polar opposites of capitalism, such as looking out for your fellow man and not being consumed by possessions. It's very true, however, that constant rebellion isn't an effective method for success. You seem to be confused, yes women do mature faster than men, but that

  • @Anonykip444 doesn’t mean that their maturation plateaus at a higher point, to assert so is completely asinine. Here is where your logic takes a huge nosedive, China has a communist government, they are very far removed from capitalism; they essentially whore out their population to western nations for cheap labor and inexpensive goods, a staple of capitalism. So not only are we ruining our future generations by placing an inordinate importance on monetary success and material goals, we’re also

  • @Anonykip444 exploiting millions of people in numerous countries.

  • 8 people only like music thats on the charts

  • This song is so fucking beautiful! <3

  • I know it's silly but I'm so proud over the fact that the guys behind The Radio Dept. are Swedish (I'm Swedish myself). It's just awesome. Go Sweden! :D

  • The Radio Dept. - Heaven's On Fire (Song Lyrics)

    Formerly known as 'Spring Time'

    Thurston Moore (sample)

"People see rock and roll as, as youth culture, and when youth culture becomes monopolised by big business, what are the youth to do? Do you, do you have any idea?

I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture."

"When I look at you, heaven's on fire

I wish I didn't know you better, but it's pointless

One look at you, and heaven's on fire

  • When I look at you, I reach for a piano wire

Fighting to keep it together, but it's pointless

One look at you and heaven's on fire,

    Heaven's on fire

  • It seems like everyone is on your side We're outnumbered by those who take no pride In constantly moving against the tide Charlatans just out of reach and out of time I'm a little like you, Ugly on the inside But while I dive into the gritty You just stand by When I look at you Heaven's on fire Heaven's on fire
  • It seems like everyone is on your side

We're outnumbered by those who take no pride

In constantly moving against the tide

Charlatans just out of reach and out of time"

  • let's get some lyrics goin on fookers

  • I love every song they make

  • Fuck yeah...thurston moore at the beginning!

  • lol they want to destroy the bogus capitalist process, yet they want you to buy the album. lol irony.

  • wow i feel this song

  • I was bought here from Fred Flare's Boombox ♥

  • This song makes me smile :D

  • "Some people see rock & roll as youth culture,

and when youth culture becomes monopolized by big business,

What are the youth to do? Do you have any idea?

I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture." amen.

  • Justin Beiber sucks. That is all.

  • @XxLost0elementXx Be tolerant, there is more people who thinks otherwise about our shoegazing

  • @shoasa95 haha, wut

  • such a sweet song, imagining i meeting his eyes when he's singing this song on stage

  • such a sweet song, imagining i meeting his eyes through this song on stage

  • any versions out there without the stupid political bullsh*t in the beginning?

  • @jhoffa69 the monologue is there in the beginning to give the song personality and make its meaning a bit more superficial. the song/monologue go hand-in-hand

  • @jhoffa69 no there aren't...but if it REALLY bugs you that much, just get the original song, then with some audio editing cut out the intro, easy as pie!

  • @jhoffa69 you are the one who is stupid here, respect the artist idea, they put it there for a reason and if you are not good enough to care and think don't blame on others who do.

  • @jhoffa69 it has nothing to do with politics idiot. Just because they say the word "capatalist" doesn't mean anything. It means he wants them to stop their way of mainstream music and such.

  • damn..i used to believe good music was dying..
