Tony "The Ant" Spilotro was the guy Santoro was based on. He was like 5'2'' or something. It's in Pileggi's book "Casino"--which is not as entertaining a read as "Wiseguy" (aka Goodfellas)--but is still worth checking out if you haven't already....
