0-10 miles = vaporized by heat flash, 10-40 miles = ripped apart by concussion, 40-80 miles = burns, blindness, radiation exposure.
Detonated in upper atmosphere, the resulting emp blast could fry every electronic device on a whole continent...

No one can ever give an "educated" answer as to why we didn't drop bombs "Around" japan's city's first, give them a couple warnings before we killed 100,000 Men, Women, and Children. @newm123 So the innocent rapes and killings of innocent civilians in China and the Philippines is justifiable? The way the Japanese handled POWs - the bataan death march etc. Also; Millions and Millions would have been killed, on both sides, if their was to be an invasion of the main island, which had been planned to take place after the bombs were dropped. It's a sad thing these types of things happen. But if there wasn't a war in the first place, none of this would have occurred.

@mattgotsskill Actually, to make them more powerful is pointless, as the Tsar Bomba is the most powerful bomb tested, and any more powerful than that will lead to the blast only going into space, and therefore be a waste of resources and money

@saraalikesyou: The DOE released a bunch of old films for civil use. 103 of them saw the light of day in 1993 before the money for the program ran out. Everything was from before 1970.
