- McCain lied about his voting record in support of our Vets. He voted 9 times out of 12 against increading our Vets health benefits. McCain also opposed the New GI Bill granting our returning war Vets a 4 years paid college education.
- McCain lied in Pittsburgh, when he said it was the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineup names he used to name the members of his squadron, while he was interrogated in Vietnam. In McCain's own book, it was the Green Bay Packers
- McCain told the story about being in India with his wife Cindy, where mother Teresa came to her and placed a sick little girl in her arms and pleading with Cindy to please adopt her. Again McCain lied. The McCains never met with Mother Teresa. They were in fact in Bangladesh ... while Mother Teresa was in Calcutta.
- The story about the Vietcong guard in Hanoi, that supposedly drew a cross with his foot in the sand, on X-mas day ... that never happened. McCain stole the idea from Russian author Solzhenitsyn, who was prisoner in a gulag in Siberia. That Russian guard drew the cross in the snow.
While in reality, McCain was inside the limousine in his motorcade, with his campaign advisors ... where he (McCain) could have easily been fed by cell phone, Text-Messaging, etc all the questions, ... giving McCain close to a full hour to rehearse all his answers and be very well prepared in advance. McCain had knowingly & openly lied to that Reverend, to the church audience and to the American public on National TV.
Under scrutiny McCain's repeated lies are surfacing. He told some very moving stories during his interview at the Saddlebag church. Now his stories are being all debunked, exposing him as the liar, that he is.
- First McCain told the Reverend, that he was in deed in a "cone of silence" and couldn't hear anything from that green room in the back, while Obama was being interrogated during the hourlong interview.

Never heard Obama say he is getting rid of NAFTA. Heard him say it needs to be regulated with fees or taxed to fund the creation of American jobs and to encourage businesses to employ Americans. When has raising taxes ever in the history of the galaxy ever not been passed all the way down back to the consumer? -Never! McCain attacks, by contrast, are almost all aimed at character. Obama's a celebrity, he's like Britney, he's a lightweight, he's a hypocrite and so on. They throw in some policy stuff for good measure -- he's gonna raise your taxes, he's to blame for high gas prices. But the gist of the GOP strategy is to turn the other guy into a person that most Americans just wouldn't want to have as president.

Look at Obama's attacks above. Basically, they're about McCain's policy positions. They're pretty good and effective, and attacks like them might prove to be enough this year, given the state of the economy and world and general lack of enthusiasm for McCain that's afoot. But they don't go right at the guy. The only character attack above is directed at someone who is now a former McCain adviser.

Obama wants to raise captiol gains tax, hurting everyone in that business. Not to mention he wants to raise income taxes up to 60%. So, if you do the math, we would only get 40 cents out of the dollar you make, depending on your income bracket.

Please explain why the Windfall Profits Tax (WPT) that was once going to fund Green Energy is now funding the $1,000 tax rebate. Before you say it can do both, recall in the Primary Obama said it wouldn't even cover $28 per motorist.

You can't claim that a tax rebate will stimulate the economy, but lower taxes will not. Especially since a tax rebate is basically just a multi-step way to get a tax break. If you say a tax rebate will "prime the pump", you've just admitted the Republicans are correct on lower taxes.
You also can't claim a gas tax holiday (which doesn't hit *big oil's* pockets) will raise gas prices, and then claim a Windfall Profits Tax won't raise prices even though it does hit Big Oil's pockets.

Thus, the campaign must focus on making people understsand that McCain is "Not as safe as he seems" or "The safe choice? Oh, really?" tax rebaits, where does the money come from? I don't know where Obama's tax refund is going to come from so I'm going to look into it. Busj's tax rebate came from China, isn't the USA already in debt? And myself and several neighbors got a letter saying our checks were on the way but never got those checks. Biden is a great VP choice. As to perceived weaknesses with regards to voting for the war or being an insider - just underline that Obama is a unifier who will work with all kinds of people. A lot of people voted for the war because they believed that a US president wouldn't mislead them. You can't hold that against them - especially since Biden has openly said since that it was a mistake. McCain will likely choose Carly Fiorina to try and get someone who looks a bit like Sen. The recent faith forum highlights the problem: Obama - honest speaker, honest conversation. McCain - pushing all the pre-calculated buttons and soundbites. The Obama camp should develop a parallel strategy for reaching non political junkies and non supporters with the messages in this video. People that begin sentences with "I heard that..." A narrow message repeated over and over again; some tough foreign policy talk (call Mbeki an appeaser) and make them see McCain as a soundbite machine.
This video sounds misleading. Deese says the tax SHARE of the economy will lower, which sounds like a slick way to avoid saying taxes will increase under Obama. Also, the Heritage foundation he references is against the Obama tax plan, so his reference is slick talk but misleading. And the $1000 rebate is a tax on oil companies that will be passed on to us and will encourage more overseas investment. Overall video is misleading like too many Nobama interviews. Increased taxes on capital gains will only decrease the amount of money the government takes in. The dems said cutting the capital gains tax would decrease the money to government, just the opposite happened.

3. Why not make that next rebate $2000 and pay for eight months of gas price increases or $3000 and pay for a full year? You can buy a lot more votes with $3000 than you can with $1000.

It is great that Obama said that McCain's Rove strategy insults the intelligence of Americans, but there is a kind of "battered wife syndrome" for many Americans that must be addressed - the idea that the devil you know (the security of fear) seems safer than the uncertainty of hope.

They throw in some policy stuff for good measure -- he's gonna raise your taxes, he's to blame for high gas prices. But the gist of the GOP strategy is to turn the other guy into a person that most Americans just wouldn't want to have as president.

I think the recent bad poll numbers suggest that many voters want to "punish" Obama for being popular on his world trip and for taking a vacation - ie, seeming to ignore bread and butter issues. Yet, he certainly deserved a vacation and his world trip was actually almost flawlessly executed. Now the time has come for the super-charged return. Please explain why the Windfall Profits Tax (WPT) that was once going to fund Green Energy is now funding the $1,000 tax rebate. Before you say it can do both, recall in the Primary Obama said it wouldn't even cover $28 per motorist.

You can't claim that a tax rebate will stimulate the economy, but lower taxes will not. Especially since a tax rebate is basically just a multi-step way to get a tax break. If you say a tax rebate will "prime the pump", you've just admitted the Republicans are correct on lower taxes.
You also can't claim a gas tax holiday (which doesn't hit *big oil's* pockets) will raise gas prices, and then claim a Windfall Profits Tax won't raise prices even though it does hit Big Oil's pockets.

You're right, gas tax holiday is not costing big oil. My bad. A better plan is to have big oil pay the taxes so what the taxes are used for don't suffer! Our country is trillions in debt. Our infrastructure is falling apart. Gas tax holiday does more harm than good because it'll just defer taxes for needed repairs. The rebate is limited to 1k. Lowering taxes allows high incomes to be too greatly rewarded and negate the objective of the limit. Not the same results.

Obama's plan WOULD raise prices at the pump. The 1k rebate he is proposing comes from taxing the oil companies for being successful and profitable. Those companies turn around and pass that tax increase off to the consumer with higher prices. That 1k rebate might sound good and maybe it would offset the pain for 4 months, but what about the remaining 8 months in the yr? McCain isn't lying people. Biden is a great VP choice. As to perceived weaknesses with regards to voting for the war or being an insider - just underline that Obama is a unifier who will work with all kinds of people. A lot of people voted for the war because they believed that a US president wouldn't mislead them. You can't hold that against them - especially since Biden has openly said since that it was a mistake. McCain will likely choose Carly Fiorina to try and get someone who looks a bit like Sen. The recent faith forum highlights the problem: Obama - honest speaker, honest conversation. McCain - pushing all the pre-calculated buttons and soundbites. The Obama camp should develop a parallel strategy for reaching non political junkies and non supporters with the messages in this video. People that begin sentences with "I heard that..." A narrow message repeated over and over again; some tough foreign policy talk (call Mbeki an appeaser) and make them see McCain as a soundbite machine.

This video sounds misleading. Deese says the tax SHARE of the economy will lower, which sounds like a slick way to avoid saying taxes will increase under Obama. Also, the Heritage foundation he references is against the Obama tax plan, so his reference is slick talk but misleading. And the $1000 rebate is a tax on oil companies that will be passed on to us and will encourage more overseas investment. Overall video is misleading like too many Nobama interviews. I prefer the McCain straight talk

Obama wants to raise the cpaital gains tax, which, it is proven, will earn the goverment more if the LOWER it. He admitts to this, and still says he will higher it. Look it up. McCain's campaign is correct. He will not lower taxes(for all we know they could go up) and the economy would be bad. The Obama campaign is just trying to say that the McCain campaign is wrong and to make Obama look good. Everyone should know better by now. Obama would not make a good president. It's not because of his race, it's who he is and what his ideas are.

Now the Clinton administration was "the longest period of uninterrupted economic expansion in American history with 40,000 jobs created".

So what happens when you take the money away from buisness to give it to people who didn't earn it? You hurt the buiseness sector that employs 60% of all Americans. The reason that we had growth during the clinton years is becouse huge companys were taking the place of small buisness putting manny Americans out of a job.

I agree with everyone else -- this should be the TV ad. Just honest straight talk... way more effective than the usual political commercial.
Obama has always said that he's against "politics-as-usual"... so why use the same kind of advertising as John McCain? Listen to us and use this instead.

Increased taxes on capital gains will only decrease the amount of money the government takes in. The dems said cutting the capital gains tax would decrease the money to government, just the opposite happened.
The best and greatest countries in the world are capitalists and not socialist.
Free health care makes two health care system. The government ran system and a privately ran system. Socialist health care does not work, please see cuba, russia, england and Canada.

1. You didn't answer the first question. You just said we have heard it before. We have and it was true before.
2. Those 101 million families that John McCain "completely leaves out" don't pay any taxes now.
3. Why not make that next rebate $2000 and pay for eight months of gas price increases or $3000 and pay for a full year? You can buy a lot more votes with $3000 than you can with $1000.
